We caught SKB at Bearsville on Friday. This

place(a converted barn) is a must for live

music. If you get the chance go! Its the

studio where tons of great albums have been

recorded including Phish. They also let you

out at setbreak to party in the parking lot [smile]

As always a grate nite of music with Kimock.

A couple newer tunes in the rotation. Lots

of old nuggets(Tongue and Groove, Its Up To

You). Other major highlights Ice Cream Factory,

Moon People and Avalon. A joy to watch Rodney

Holmes on drums! The guy is a monster. Go see

SKB!

Saturday night, we headed off to see Bela Fleck

and Edgar Meyer play at the Massachusetts Museum

of Contemporary Art (MassMoCA) in North Adams.

Very much out of the way, very much out of the

ordinary. The art is a little odd, but the old

mill buildings are a site in and of themselves.

A 1000-seat theatre has been installed in one of

the buildings, and has surprisingly good

acoustics and great view lines from every seat.

This acoustic show was music on another level

Bela(bango) and Edgar(bass and piano) Everything

from Bach to Miles! Several songs from Belas Perpetual

Motion were played. This duo is truly is another

MUST see. Truly amazing stuff!

Friends we hooked up with had also caught the

Nero set in Boston on the Thursday. DaveB from

Boston said the crowd seemed to really get into it.

The Instant Live recording sounds great!

Cheers!

also caught a decent SKB show here in boston over the weekend. unfortunately, it was at a shitty venue (the Middle Least), and hampered the sound and the overall vibe a bit too (which appears to influence steve's playing sometimes). great first set of tunes (alot of my favs), but not all that exploratory. some new jams on tunes, but nothing out there. second set was also competent, but certainly not taking you for a ride. i like "One for Brother Mike" tho, and i think it's got lotsa potential for improv. new bandmembers, so i think they're just warming up.

i'm embarassed to say that i missed the nero show here in boston. i'm truly, very sorry. i'll take off my canadian flag from my wall now. as bryan adams said, "please forgive me".
