  1. Charging for sure. Unfortunate outcome. That helmet came off way to easy. I heard some commentary on the comparison of hemlet technology in the NFL vs the NHL. Night and day. They come off way to easy and some NHLers are wearing antiquated brain buckets. I see kids in my son's league with garbage helmets on too. They need to be fitted/adjusted properly. The secondary concussions that happen from loosly fitted helmets are equally as bad.

  3. I still haven't watched ... and am in no rush now Last night I watched "V for Vendetta" instead of "V" and really liked it. Interesting flick with some timely story content. It came out in 2005? Would get a wider audience now i'm sure. Whoa ... what's freaky too is that today is the 5th of November!
  4. Derek Trucks Band Announces Hiatus Derek Trucks Band will take a break from touring in 2010. A note from the band reads, "After 16 years of relentless touring, a fantastic 2009 that featured the release of Already Free and a World Tour that brought the band to more than a dozen countries on four continents, The Derek Trucks Band is taking a hiatus in 2010. There are still a number of DTB dates scheduled throughout November and December of 2009." While off the road, the Derek Trucks Band will release a live CD culling highlights from the band's Already Free Tour. The release will be the band's first live album since 2004's Live At Georgia Theatre . With the Allman Brothers Band scaling back its tour schedule in 2010 as well, Trucks is expected to focus on a new group with his wife Susan Tedeschi (which like their Soul Stew Revival may well include members of the DTB), among other projects.

  9. An idea of what Astral Weeks sounded like last night:
  10. Another great show by Glen Hansard and The Frames (along with Margeta ) Jay, good to bump into you and Erin in the bar preshow Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Highlight by FAR was Hansard fucking OWNING Van Morrison's ASTRAL WEEKS. Talk about tearing it up up and making it his own. I think i'm still holding my jaw up from that one. I enjoyed the new material and the different feel of it all. The songs seem much 'heavier' and not so happy/lovey. The spark that was once there between Glen and Margeta is obviously not as magical as when they were in the throes of love. However, they still make for a great duo and their voices fit so well together. I can see the next appearance being simply Glen and The Frames though. Hey Jaimoe, there were $20 tix outside preshow. A decent wrap up of the show from the Toronto Sun. http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment/columnists/jane_stevenson/2009/11/04/11626641-sun.html

  14. Very interesting read. Fascinating socio-economic look at the state of the USA and the world in the cyclical patterns of our humanity. Music is a powerful force and is doing very little in the current state of affairs as it has been able to do in the past. Ever since September 11, 2001 I have wondered where are all the protest songs? Seems that any out there were quickly squelched and the greed of the artists took over with the threat of losing their contracts. Any that are out there are very low on the radar kept away from the masses hearing them. When will the public start to listen? Something needs to trigger it. I think we're in for a change in the very near future. http://theburningplatform.com/economy/american-pie-1
