Good discussion guys, kept it going. Seriously. If I took the time to get my thoughts down in words that would be understandable I would be neglecting my family too Well put. I agree with you. Adults should be able to choose their own medical path. Children need to be protected from danger though. This can be exemplified in the case that started all this, along with a doctor who makes irresponsible medical decisions for a child.

Booche, come on. When a guy states in public, numerous times, that he would NOT want to win a Cup with a team that he wasn't with from training camp, it should allow for a bit of questioning. The following season, if he joins an NHL team, he will have missed training camp and almost half a regular season! Don't get me wrong, I have always liked Sundin (well, maybe not when he was playing with Alfie and took the Gold Medal from Canada in that infamous shootout) and supported him through his tenure with the Leafs. I'd just rather not hear from a player who is sitting on the fence trying to decide what to do and has to keep his cards close in order not to screw up a possible deal.

Last I heard was that he was meeting with the Rangers last Friday. If he plays in the NHL this year and doesn't sign a multi-year contract, he can consider himself a "rental player" just like he said he didn't want to be (and he could have won a Cup with Detroit). Sundin just piss or get off the pot already.

The Yankees should sign him to a 10 year $500 million contract! Oh, if he had only "connected" with one of those shoes (or had been wearing Doc Martin's or stilletos )

Agreed. However, when it gets to the point where those beliefs are placing an innocent child's life at risk, we as a society must be there to protect that child. If people who believe that a "god" has a will to control one's health, then they should NEVER be making use of hospitals or synthetic drugs, or surgeons. They all impede with the "natural" course our bodies take and therefore are antigodswill I don't know how you make it legal, but maybe there should be an "age of consent" for these sorts of things, as there is for other things. Do you make it 16, 18, 21? But in the story posted here the child was 15 MONTHS old. How could they make that decision for themselves?

No problem, if it was written/signed/approved/etc by the person in question when they were of sound mind. Those are only in situations where a person is terminally ill.

Really? So when a CHILD is in danger medically, or from physical abuse, or from malnutrition, etc. just because their parent/guardian has a certain set of religious beliefs, there should be NO intervention?? I don't get it. I guess we stand back and let "God's will" take over?
