My parents gave me a weird name (Alexia--and I bet 90% of people who know me don't know my full name) and it really gets annoying when almost everyone fucks it up. I don't think it's even that hard to pronounce but apparently I'm wrong or people are fucking retarded. Even if my parents had gone for the more traditional Alexis or Alexandra it would have made life a bit less annoying. I go by Lex and I still get hassled over that. I often hear "that's a boy's name" or other asinine comments. There's a lady at work who calls me Alexie which is a Russian dude's name. Seriously, go for a normal name.

So at this exact second I'm dicking around at a job I hate and wondering how I can make an exit. I just got a call from the library I really want to work at and I'm hired. (Woo Hoo!) I think the people who feel they are entitled to part of what I earn are also shitting on Vonnegut's and Marley's philosophies. You have an obligation to contribute to the world, not leach off it. I almost hurled on my shoes when I read the Green platform and that made me sad. You're probably wondering what induced my retching. It was the idea of a guarunteed basic income that is unsupervised. The way I interpreted this is that people can be sure of receiving a subsistence level income which covers their rent and food but not actually have to report to any agency or try to get off the dole! Fully able bodied adults can choose to not participate in the workforce and instead leach off the taxpayers for life and not have to worry about a thing. I recently watched Johnny Got His Gun. It's the movie that Metalica used for their 'One' video. It's really something.

Besides that... I've been exploring the world of mumblecore. Slow paced 20-something low budget films with slight plots and messy hair. Addictive though. The Puffy Chair, Quiet City, Team Picture... there's lots of them out there.

I didn't know this was a movie! It's a book too and holy shit it made me ball like such a little girl. Absolutely heart wrenching...could easily create many a pacifist.

The Boston Aquarium is really neat if you like that sort of thing. So was whale watching. Take a day trip to Salem, it's neat!! I loved Boston. I remember sitting at an intersecton in Boston and seeing fourteen Saabs! I love the old style Saabs, super cool cars.

If it was a place it would be capitalized, but I can understand the confusion. I think that bacon is a state of mind, and since what you perceive is what exists for you, I guess Bacon is my happy place.
