Islanders being sneaky about getting above the cap floor...

I do not see a lot of redeeming qualities in Dan Mangan's act. His lyrics and singing are awful. Some of the arrangements are decent but other than that I cannot begin to understand his appeal to such a wide audience.

Esau wins!

Good point about his playing time Sean. He has trouble standing / leaning / moving for long periods so he takes frequent breaks. His band is top-notch though.

I really like the album.
You can stream it at NPR if you go the legal route.

BB King confirmed for July 14.

Of note - that second quote says they need 400+ attending shows for this to work. The capacity of the venue is 400. Whoever is running the space (or is in charge if their Facebook page) doesn't seem to have their facts straight. Also - is selling out each and every show right off the bat even the least bit realistic? Hell no. Gotta build this over time.
Some other questionable stuff: There isn't any sound gear in the club currently. Would have to be rented for each show. New events to be promoted by Embrace, from Toronto. Not necessarily bad to have a non-local promoter, but hopefully they get to know the market here quickly or it's not gonna work.
Perhaps if the "new" owners didn't ruin the place already this process would be easier to re-start.

Did the Guardian confirm that story? Earlier today I read that the only source was the mayor, who reported the Timbuktu story from Bamako. Hoping story isn't true.

Tokyo Ska! Hope this means they're play some other North American dates near me. But I doubt it'll happen.

Yes, I saw that back and forth and was quite entertained. Coyne is consistent and clear, which I really appreciate whether I agree with him or not on other issues.

I'm sad that Freak By Night hasn't chimed in with his thoughts on wind chill yet this year.

Not sure if you saw this editorial Esau, but it sums up everything fairly well - defund it all!

2 nights in Toronto will never happen.

" sole canadian date " - wtf ?
-
I'm guessing they'll be on tour. It's summer festival season and they have a new album out.

Absolutely. I saw Change Of Heart there (speaking of sweaty rock shows) and they regularly host all kinds of bands now. Jon / Pierre at Kelp Records do the bookings I think.

Check out Third Man Records.
The Belcourt Theatre (original home of the Opry) is a great little movie theatre that sells great beer if you're looking for a relaxing night. Similar to the Princess in Waterloo or the Mayfair in Ottawa.
I know a great and cheap place to stay if you're looking for accommodations.

You could delete the iTunes library files and create a new library.
Strange problem!

Lots of discussion / probable or possible causes for the exclamation points under that search. Might find something useful there.

So what was the problem?
I started using iTunes in 2003, both on PC and Mac, and have had minor problems here and there but for the most part find it very easy to use, great for organizing, looks great, sounds good, connects to devices in my house well, and the smart playlists are pretty powerful.
But it's not for everyone.

Pretty sure the list he gave in the interview isn't exhaustive - it's to show that they will have all kinds. I've definitely seen some great rock and roll shows at the real Whalesbone so it's not a genre they're adverse to.
Unless you were being facetious.
