  1. Whalesbone is moving in and are continuing the tradition of live music, though at a slower pace.

"@TheWhalesbone: @leftydammit there will definately be an affiliation - the Elmdale will be similar but different"

"Nathalie Myles: Live Music will continue, this is not becoming a Whalesbone, the owners of the Whalesbone bought the business an they're adding a kitchen! The Elmdale will live on!!!!"

  2. I wonder if the promo company found a song from 20 years ago from a band they hadn't heard of and thought they could sneak it by without asking? Doesn't seem too plausible given google and all, but there are plenty of dumb people out there.

People have posted this news on the Hip's Facebook so they are aware of it now (in case it was done without their knowledge)

  3. I have internet through CIA.com. It's superfast DSL (or cable, your choice), there's no bandwidth limit nor throttling. It also comes with a free VoIP phone line with al the features you need, emails your voicemail to you, call waiting, call display, free long distance to most places in canada and 5 cents per minute to places that aren't free. International calls are cheap too but that's what Skype is for. Also comes with a calling card so you can get these rates from any phone. This plan runs me $50 / month plus $10 / month for renting the modem and VoIP adapter.

  4. Comedy Bang Bang

Earwolf Presents - (they did the Phish podcasts a while back that are hilarious - Harris Wittels attempts to get Scott Aukerman to like or at least not dislike Phish)

All Songs Considered - sometimes cheesy but sometimes really good

NPR Planet Money - it's about money and economics but not dry. short 15-20 minute episodes from all over the place. interesting stuff presented well.

    Wiretap

Stop Podcasting Yourself - comedy from Vancouver

    Memory Palace

    CBC Radio 3

  5. What are the repercussions?

I don't know' date=' but I'm sure he'll claim this is a symbol for frivolous lawsuits and will drum up an excuse, so as to avoid a gong show of a trial.[/quote']

It seems any Tom can get snared by these traps. I hope he can beat this rap, kick out the charges and get back rolling! Crash the courtroom and ride this out Mickey!

  6. City gyms (of which Plant Bath is one) are good value and offer plenty of services. You can choose your membership level and your membership is valid at multiple facilities. Some have pools, arenas, classes, squash, curling etc included in price.

There are two YMCA locations downtown, although the Queen St. location has a 'premium' designation or something like that.

    Goodlife is very overrated IMHO.
