  1. OK,

Everyone who is in, mail me RIGHT NOW!!! at phan420@hotmail.com

I can set this one up if no one else wants to.

I will let you all know of the login info once I set it up at TSNMAX.ca

Are we in agreement that shows will go to the victor? If there are more than 7-8 of us, what about the last two people in the pool have to send to the second place finisher and the other 5 will send to the winner. Or do you want winner takes all?

    Sean

  2. Well Dain I certainly remember you. We were all one big sweaty mess but oh what a night. We all took in the show from behind Jeff which gave us an excellent vantage point to see all of the stage interaction. I was in a Mellow Mood t with a red hat on......

I drove down on Saturday anticipating the show would to quote the D "Rock my motha fuckin socks off". It did that and more......

From the "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" opener the band was on. They tore through a first set that included a few new tunes "Itchy Feet" comes immediately to mind. Lots of smiles from the band and from the crowd, and the night was off and running.

I can't really tell you I know all of the BNB song titles, but they did play the following:

Chevron, Funkin Shoes, Billy Jos Hootenany?, Waves, Down w/ the Sound, L, Stop 28, but what I missed out on was Speedbump. I just love that tune, and thought the lyrics would have suited the situation. Oh well can't win em all.....

The covers were freakin amazing. They rocked ROCKED ROCKED the house on I Want a New Drug, suprised the shit out of everyone (and delighted my girlfriend) by rocking out (first time?) on Sinead OConnors "Emperors New Clothes"- thanks to the band what a surprise!, but the icing on the cake was certainly....

Duh Duh, Du Du Du DUH

Duh Duh, DU Du Du DUH

    DOWN WITH DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost shit myself just watching the crowds reaction. It was flawless.

I loved all of the Burt shows I saw, not because they played what I wanted or the jams were satisfying, but because of what it represents to me: The Canadian Scene. The people that attended those shows were as much a part of the experience to me as the band. The smiling faces, offers of smoke, clinking beer bottles, chatting about "our scene", thinking about Frontier Town, and the camaraderie that all of you wonderful people bring to OUR shows. The band deserves to be thanked for helping to foster these feelings and providing us with an outlet for our grins and groovin- but I also think the fans around me at every show is what makes it truly special.

"see you on the flipside BNB"

    Peace

  3. This is from TSNmax. It starts on April 17. Money doesn't have to be involved but we can come up with a simple system to send some discs. How about everyone in sends one show to the winner?

Stanley's Dream Team allows fans to build their own team of NHL players (from teams taking part in the 2002 NHL Playoffs) and compete against each other to win prizes based on their team's performance.

    ROSTER COMPOSITION

Teams are comprised of fifteen (15) players: eight (8) forwards, two (2) power forwards, four (4) defensemen, and one (1) team's goaltending.

In order for a roster to be complete, all 15 roster slots must be filled. Players on your roster can be exchanged before every Round. Players that are added to your team's roster by 11:59pm PT on the day before the first game of the upcoming Round will accumulate statistics beginning with that Round. For example, if you exchange a player for Joe Sakic at 11: 59pm PT the night before Round 2 begins, he will begin accumulating statistics on your roster for games during Round 2. You will automatically be brought through this process when you first create your team.

NOTE: Every round you can exchange only 8 players on your roster. The maximum number of players that you can have per team changes per round. In round 1 the max is 4, in round 2 the max is 6, in the Conference Finals the max is 8 and in the FINALS the max is 10.

    SCORING SYSTEM

The statistical categories that count in Stanley's Dream Team are:

    Forwards, Power Forwards & Defensemen

    4 pts per goal (G)

    4 pts per assist (A)

    1 pt per plus/minus (+/-)

1 additional pts per game winning goal (GWG)

    Goaltending

    6 pts per win (W)

5 additional pts per Shutout (SHO)

Bonus points: 3 pts awarded for every player whose team wins its series and advances to the next round.

  4. OK, I am really tired right now.... But I wanted to start a thread about BNB. I just got back from one exhausting show in Halifax last night, and was also lucky enough to have caught the Saint John show.

I wanted to know what everyone else thought of their last Burt experience while I had the chance to take it all in and breathe a little.

"This has all been wonderful but now I'm on my way."

Thanks BNB for all of the good times!

  5. What are Sabbath- Paranoid, and Led Zeppelin II?

Sorry I was watching Jeopardy when I found this.

My two Desert Island Discs (you cheated AD, 2xLive is actually two cds- but it is the Rheos so I will allow it)......

John Scofield- A Go Go, I know its been played time and time again but it is SOOO solid.

Beatles- Abbey Road, no explanation required.

Peace AD, see you out East soon?

    Sean

  6. If anyone taped it, check out the girl in the front of the crowd after Phish finishes playing.

She is wearing jeans, white shirt WITH the red balloon. She looks a whole lot like the "whacked blonde nitrous fairy" in Bittersweet Motel (the scene at about 6:30 am when she dances inexplicably for around 160 seconds of screen time).

    Coincidence?

Also did anyone else catch the Simpsons tease as they concluded "Antelope". It was brief but it was there right before the "DOH" signal.

All in all a great episode. I was hoping to see the boys signatures on the Reefer-endum. They weren't on the petition........

  7. I can't believe they just released this one! All of the sources out there were contaminated with some serious wind on the mics in the second set, so I guess Trey thought this would be a good one to seed and kick up interest for the summer tour.

Anways, I am pumped. Hope you all enjoy this one. I will be hosting it on DConnect as soon as I complete the md5 checks.....You can listen to it on www.nugs.net for the time being.

    From Phish.com:

Carrying on a long tradition of officially-seeded trees, we are

pleased to announce the release of soundboard/audience

reference CD's from Trey's 7/18/01 Red Rocks show (with filler

from 7/17/01). We will seed CDR's to one tree through the

digiphish newsgroup and will also provide CDR's to etree and

    nugs.net for online distribution.

    Enjoy!

  8. moe.down, Sugarloaf Mountain, Base Lodge.

    3.22-23.02

It was oh so far north into Maine, that having just moved out to Saint John, NB from Ontario I was half way back home.

We arrived down in Carrabassett Valley around 6 o'clock, and had to get things moving in a hurry. Having travelled through a border, we were all "Travelin Light" and had to acquire some local produce. First of all this is one hell of a mountain! The sheer size blew me away and when we stepped out of the car, we were all reminded we were up pretty high. It was sooooo cold on Friday night, the wind was blowing and it was snowing. From my vantage point in the lodge I could see up the mountain at the snow machines at work! The band certainly found an amazing spot for this little event (There were approx. 500- 800 people in the place, with both nights totally sold out). THe band took the stage by 9 both nights, and pretty much played from 9-10:30, and 11:15-12:45, all four were much longer sets than usual.

Friday night got started pretty quickly and thanks to some Canadian duty free beer, slightly messy. The band simply stunned the crowd on Friday night, as the two and a half week layoff seemed to give them a ton of energy. I am a little unschooled in moe. and this was my third and fourth shows, and first since 1999. That being said, some of the older material is nearer to my heart.

    03/22/02 Sugar Loaf Ski Resort

Set 1: Seat of My Pants, Faker > Moth, None Fucked River*, new Chuck tune > Timmy Tucker

First set highlights included a sweet segue into Moth out of Faker which really seemed to set the tone, for the all out jamfest that was moe.down. The Timmy Tucker to close the first set stood out as there were several movements in the jam and a distinguishable Drum+Bass segment that was just freakin GROOVY.

Set 2: 32 Things, Okayalright, Captain America > Rise > Recreational Chemistry, E: Cornflake Girl*

    Comment: * debut

The second set got started wonderfully with 32 Things, but the real "meat" was at the end of set 2, which stands as the longest jam I have seen these guys play. Captain America had to clock in at over 25 minutes and melted into Rise. The following 30 minutes was indescribeable as I witnessed some of the most intense guitar soloing on stage since FZ. Chuck and Al tore back and forth at each other unleashing on the Rec Chem and closing the set off with a bang.

The encore was Tori Amos' 'Cornflake Girl' which was an outstanding cover (though I think it was more welcomed by me than some others in attendance).

Second night was tough to get myself up for. After heaving my way to breakfast, I spent the day horizontal and trying to get some energy for the night... moe. helped in that department.

    03/23/02 Sugar Loaf Ski Resort

Set 1: St. Augustyne, Bring it Back Home > Happy Hour Hero, Spine of a Dog > Buster

St. Augustyne opener? And then followed up by the best set, I have seen these guys play or have heard on tape or cd. The energy level was through the roof throughout Bring it Back Home> Happy Hour Hero was killer as Chuck brought out the Squakbox (made famous by Frampton)and they jammed out for a solid 15 minutes again touching on some Drum + Bass themes (or am I just dying for some more New Deal?). The Spine of a Dog> Buster contained the best segue of the weekend with full on steel drum tones by Al, and an amazing percussion interlude.

Set 2: Understand, Kids, Kyle, Conviction*, Lazarus -> Rebubula, E: The Weight

    Comment: * debut

I have to admit that the meat of the second set was beyond me. I have yet to hear alot of that material and was a little tired by that point. The jamming in Kids was superb as Al tooled around on keys, and rolling thunder continued on with the percussion. But Rebubula was just so good that the whole second set could have been Lazarus>Rebubula and everyone would have been happy. During the crazy bass lick that leads into the lyrics, I had a "moment" which doesn't happen so much anymore after hundreds of shows over the years. I just 'got' moe. full on. I could then understand why my friend who dragged me along told me "moe. is the best touring band right now." From the xylophones, to the percussion, to the crazy guitar riffs and time signatures and of course those catchy as hell choruses..... I just got it. Then the band encored with "The Weight" which I think I heard before Al even touched his guitar. It was just the right vibe and I had a feeling I would be seeing one of my new favorite bands playing something by one of my all timers. And it was worth it. They nailed the harmonies, and sealed the deal.

Thanks to all the cool New Brunswickers that made it down (there were so many of us, a security guard thought we had taken a bus trip), to the pholks at Judsons- the coolest motel on Earth!, and to JB and B-dog for dragging me along......

    I am a moe.ron

    Peace

  9. I'll be there with Bells on!

I just moved out to Saint John and all everybody talks about here, is how cool St. Andrews is. I hope it lives up to the reputation.

I partied with a few kids from St. Andrews this weekend at moe.down. Check out my other post for the details on that one.

    See you then.

    Sean

  10. I think we all owe you a thanks too Mike, and to the rest of the guys. The band gave us hundreds of memories, and brought together many people who can now say they are great friends. You have given us the "excuse" to hit the open road and explore our beautiful country and through it all you taught us all a little about ourselves. Kudos.

This scene that exists here in Canada is the best in the world and now one of our favorites, innovators and ironhorses is now gone. Everyone out there should get out and support the last run.

"When you get confused, just listen to the music play."

See y'all in Saint John -> Halifax

    Peace

  11. Wilson- duh duh, duh duh maybe Cavern>Wilson>Cavern from 7.13.94

Tube, Tube, Tube- maybe just make a Tube cd for him

Peace Scottie, everything here is a blast. We'll talk soon.

  12. Hey guys,

I am driving through Montreal Tuesday evening between 4-7pm. I am driving a 17ft Uhaul towing a car and want to avoid any nasty traffic situations. Where should I be driving if I am travelling from Cornwall, and out to Drummondville. I am trying to end up arriving there around 6-9.

Any help or local expertise would be appreciated.

    Peace

    Sean

  13. I got a kick out of the Canadian Olympic Basketball team joke! And the abuse of our accents....

All in all, I think we are being a little harsh. Keep in mind no one from the Simpsons camp was pumping this up as a Canadian episode, its just that with so little international recognition the Canadian media jumped all over this one.

I would rather watch the worst Simpsons episode than most of the other crap on TV. At least after 11 (?) years the show is still amusing. I can't say the same for Frasier or Friends.

And the Phish episode will probably be the same. Around 30 seconds to 1 minute of screen time for the boys. And again with so little mainstream recognition we are all hyping that one up too. At least we can all sit and listen to a little "Antelope" during prime time TV!

  14. I am moving out to the East Coast.....

But put it off one week, and you can check out The New Deal in Kitchener at the Lyric on Mar9!

They are one of the best Canadian exports that are touring right now. I mean who can argue with a band that has been picked to open for BOTH Herbie Hancock, and Pages new trio Vida Blue.

Come out to the East Coast in the summer time for Evolve Festival.

    Sean

  15. I can't figgin wait.

As I decided to move all I could think about was the lack of live music. Then nero goes and announces a tour of the East the week I get there.

I will definitely be hitting the Saint John show, as well as the Charlottetown show.

If anyone out there is going let me know at phan420@hotmail.com.....

If the boys from nero are reading this get ahold of me ASAP and we can plan some accomodations for you. I was also thinking if you need help with anything, I could fill any function (sell cd's, postering, operating the wheelchair ramp, or just a drinking competition) as I most certainly won't be working yet.

    Peace

    Sean

  16. Not to pick nits, but I think if you check I simply got the date wrong for that one show. I was in fact referring to 11.17.97 (the Ghost) not 11.14.97. 11.14.97 was THE Gumbo, 11.17.97 was Denver and the show I was wishing for......

I can't get ALL of the dates right ALL of the time. Ha Ha Ha (if you knew me and my friends this would be alot funnier- they are usually blown out of the water by my knack for being the Cliff Claven of the Phish setlist world).

Nice to see some shows I wanted to nab though. We should all take note that since they are being released it is a no no to digitally trade any of them any more.

We'll just have to wait and see if the French judge changes her mind about the "Live Phish Gold Medal".

    Peace

    Sean
