  1. Its summer and I need some things to watch while normal TV is on hiatus and sports are a joke. Perhaps you could also list a brief summary of what its about.....

I just finished 3 seasons of The League and thought it was outstanding. A half hour comedy focusing on 5 guys who play in a fantasy football league together.

Workaholics took me a lot longer. Typical stoner comedy featuring 3 co workers and the hilarity that ensues while they get through day after day at a mindless job, or mindlessly drinking and smoking pot.

I've already had my fill of Dexter and Breaking Bad so give me something new. I like comedies for these nights in a hotel room.

  2. This was a comment on Luke Doucets facebook page in response to him asking if anyone knew if the above report had any merit:

Shaun Shuell: Ya Luke . Know the Nasco rigger Izzy that puts up that rig @ Downsview every year . Very competent fellow and all the stories I've heardabout him saying it was too much are true . He refused to sign off on it (good for him) and LN brought in a yes man to sign off on it. And btw , never seen you around when it was time to fly the PA and/or lights , lol ;).

  3. It bothers me to no end that the irony of a Kenny Rogers appearance with Phish gained notoriety and acceptance far more than when one of the greatest songwriters of all time chose to sit in with them for 3 full songs, 3 years ago on the same stage.

    Springsteen'd. Or Bettywhite'd?

  4. This is interesting: (emphasis is mine)
As is traditional at the folk festival, side-stage concerts, workshops and family activities will take place during daytime hours. The big difference this year is that this portion of the program will be free. You won’t need a ticket to access the western half of the site, including the kids’ zone.

By opening that part of the park to the public, organizers are able to avoid over-fencing the area. A big problem last year was the fencing that ran along the bike path, which kept the path open but obstructed the flow of the site. Another benefit of this year’s open concept is to let people familiarize themselves with the workshop program.

“Maybe you’ll draw a bigger audience if you don’t ask people to pay for it,†says Monahan. “The whole barricading up and down of the bike path was just so much of a headache, so inconvenient for people. Why not encourage people to come out with their families and check it out? The model for this is to get people out to the park.â€

I understand the desire to get more people out, but unless there is some fencing on the eastern portion- then people buying their passes are only getting the Main Stage performances for their $99 or $129. Every other act plays on the "free side".

And Flip if you'd like to volunteer on my crew I would be happy to have you. Let me know I will note your name to the powers that be.

  5. Perspective on this festival vs itself in recent years is all that is needed. This lineup is a thousand times better than what was being offered a few years back. Instead of Tuvan throat singers we get Bon Iver.

    I'll take it!

  6. $1.00 from every ticket sold will go directly to benefit The Bridge School, which assists children with severe physical impairments and complex communication needs.

I wonder if this plus the tour means there will be no Bridge School Benefit this year?

  7. It came to my attention this week that the festival is preparing to host between 10,000 and 15,000 people on Saturday September 8 and on Monday September 10.

That would easily double the largest crowd that I have even seen at the fest in my 6 years.
