  1. That would have be an awesome night of music to experience. The videos certainly seem to indicate that it was an upbeat and appreciative crowd.

I'm surprised that Bruce didn't show up. He acknowledged and then paid tribute to Levons passing earlier this year when he played a pretty solid version of 'The Weight'. He even called him by his real name "Lavon" which I found both strange and incredibly thoughtful.

    "Keep it Goin"

  2. I know some of you have bought a few of those overseas knock off jerseys, what site do you recommend?

I've seen very good and shitty versions and want something that looks good.

It will be a Bills jersey Booche, so it will look shitty enough without the lettering being too narrow or the color not being quite right.

I've been holding out hope that Flutie would come back and save us, but its time for a new one.

  3. I'm not surprised. When I called to cancel my NFL Game Pass yesterday the guy on the other end didn't even fight. I asked him how many calls they were getting and he said the phones had been lit up all day- all cancellations- and that they had been issued a special order when he arrived at work to just process cancellations and not attempt any kind of retention.

    Money talks.

Bring back the sport we know and love!

  4. Wow. I remember the long wait to receive my dandy set of XLII's in the mail for this show and being utterly disappointed by the muddy (at best) sound.

I was transported back to The Palace on that crazy weekend this afternoon. From the snow storm that almost prevented us from getting to Cleveland, to the hardcore paper we found in the lots just before this one started- it was an epic trip; certainly not one for the faint of heart or mind.

  5. Lingerie League cast offs aside, I bet Bryan Bulaga isn't issuing a statement on the touchception debacle. The last play doesn't mean a damn thing if he provided any kind of protection for Mr Discount Double check.

    8 sacks in a half!

  6. Tasty yes' date=' but also one of the most widely circulated JGB shows. I think GDP is a getting a little bit lazy. [/quote']

    That aint GDP releasing it.

The link for that JGB show leads to the official Jerry Garcia Site. Who is doing this release? It sure doesn't seem like a Rhino package.

Edit: if you can find a picture of a rhinos package, have at er.

  7. Notes from Moncton

There are many effects in the arsenal of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, all of which they can call up at will. Longtime fans know that feeling of becoming addicted all over again. For newcomers, instant fandom is nothing short of a force of nature, and tonight at Magnetic Hill in Moncton, that force was brought front and center. Opening the set to a swell of applause, Bruce called out, “Are you ready for the function in Moncton?†On display during the opening series of songs was the range and power of the E Street Horns and the E Street Singers, helping “Working on the Highway†and “Wrecking Ball†to fill the open air venue. Bruce made no secret about being blown away by this audience right from the top, calling out, “You’re pretty lively here in Moncton.â€

After a rumbling “Death to My Hometown,†Bruce confessed to the crowd, “I’m fascinated by Magnetic Hill.†Likening the Hill affectionately to his old lovers lane Gravity Hill, he told the audience that both were places where, “you park your car at the bottom and it slooowly creeps its way to the top… Here’s to gravity.†Then, never having played Moncton before, Bruce asked who had never seen him perform. From the stage, it sounded like about 80 per cent of the audience had never been to a Bruce show. “Well, I see we have our work cut out for us.†From that moment on, Bruce and E Street were dead set on making fans out of everybody there.

Moments later, the stage erupted into “Spirit in the Night†followed by a by-request “Pay Me My Money Down,†(via an impressive foam dollar sign with battery powered Christmas lights) a first for the Wrecking Ball Tour. The Seeger Sessions favorite featured not one but two Charlie Giordano accordion solos and the E Street Horns coming forward to burst pipes. A sign reading “I Love Soozie and Darlington County†brought a spirited shout from Bruce, and the song itself, and of course, some incredible violin soloing from Soozie. “The Rising†saw Nils give us steel guitar the way it was meant to be, and Max played drums like a warrior on “Glory Days.†“Dancing in the Dark†and “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out†saw Bruce overwhelmed by the crowd, but not ready to leave. With a cry of “One more for Moncton!†Bruce brought up opening artists The Trews and Tom Cochrane for a devastating “Twist and Shout.†As the show ended, Bruce exclaimed “Moncton! We’re coming back! Unbelievable!†After the show, he told a reporter that the Moncton crowd was a “Sweet, sweet audience… many of who had never seen the E Street Band, and you would never know it.â€

  8. Yup. He was talking about the 'pilgrimage' or sorts he took to New Jersey to see all of the places that appear in Bruce's songs.

There is a wonderful 5 piece article on cbc covering some of the highlights of that trip and leading up to Petes first on stage appearance with Bruce earlier this year:

    NOTES ON TORONTO

Arms over each others shoulders, Bruce and Nils walked in front of the E Street Band to the stage at Rogers Centre in Toronto, headlong into a solid wall of cheers and applause. As Charlie Giordano hit the strains of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game†and the Band members stepped on stage, the overwhelming cheering continued. Hearing and making that powerful noise made the connection that inevitably happens at a Bruce show: for the rest of the night, Toronto was going to follow Bruce wherever he went.

Last night, “Candy’s Room†and “Incident on 57th Street†were the two extremes, the songs that took us the farthest in two directions. “Candy’s Room†came on like an explosion, while a classic solo “Incident on 57th Street†at the piano was a crash course in mass hypnosis. During “Thundercrack,†Bruce led a young Toronto girl in a refrain of “All night… all night…†getting progressively quieter each time around, until they were barely audible. The audience followed them perfectly until you could almost hear yourself think. Just as gradually the sound came back up, a little bit louder each time, and when the band released us from the trance, the cheers landed on the stage like a thundercrack.

The overpowering combination of Curt Ramm and Nils closing out a loving rendition of “Jack of All Trades†left us primed for a hard-rocking back to back “Murder Inc.†and “Prove it All Night.†We saw Bruce, Steve and Nils working in their “master guitarist†roles, with Bruce and Steve in a ferocious guitar battle during “Murder Inc.†and Nils as anchor with a volatile solo during “Prove it All Night.â€

The other vital dimension of the show at Rogers Centre was raw sex appeal, with multiple solos from the E Street Horns, powerful vocals from the E Street Singers, and the spontaneity that comes with Bruce ditching the setlist halfway through the first song. When Bruce called out for all the red headed women in the audience, a frenzied and distinctly feminine cry was heard from the stadium and Bruce shot back, “Well stay away from me!†before leading an even louder cheer for Patti.

As Bruce came off the stage after three hours and 37 minutes, he said to his team, “That was the greatest audience we have ever had in Toronto.†Long time tour members heartily agreed.

  10. It seems some time slots opened up for the draft, so now we can go at 8:45.

    Is that ok with everyone?

Also send this to one friend each who you know will play, and we can fill this up. No point in each of us being able to choose from a good batch of WR3 every week on the waiver wire.

  11. So fucking IN.

Edit to add: Ben Rayner is a fucking douche. Grabbing quotes from Metric and PS I love you to support the notion that Bruce shows are too long? They would have to cover DSOTM AND Born to Run along with their own catalog to even think about going over 3 hours. And everyone would still leave.
