  1. I wanted to say 2 things. First, I'm still disgusted at the prices and the auctions on ticketmaster for The Police. How much fuckin' money does Andy Summers need?

2nd...THANK YOU ANDRE (and timmyb/marco) as I'm going to see the Police with my brother. I was hesitant about jumping in, but realized I had no choice with a top tier ticket. FUCK THE POLICE for the price, but I'll recover and I'll be happy.

You're welcome, I'm happy I could help you and your brother get tickets to see the Police.

  2. I will be in Europe for the Toronto date, actually on that day I hope to be in Rome seeing Genesis, which means I will likely be making a trip up to Ottawa to see what was easily one of the best gigs I have witnessed in 2006.

Waters Bringing 'Dark Side' Back To North America

    February 14, 2007, 1:10 PM ET

    Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Roger Waters will follow up his fall North American tour performing "Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety with a spring run, kicking off May 18 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Pink Floyd principal will be backed by a six-piece band, which includes his son Harry on Hammond organ, and three vocalists.

Waters first tested the "Dark Side" concept with a European tour last summer, then visited North America in the fall. Sans Waters, Pink Floyd performed "Dark Side of the Moon" in full for the first time during its 1994 tour in support of "The Division Bell." With Waters back in the fold, the band performed the "Dark Side" tracks "Breathe" and "Money" as part of its four-song set at Live 8 in 2005.

Before the North American dates, Waters and company are on the road across the world through May 14 in Dublin. The band next plays Hong Kong tomorrow (Feb. 15).

Here are Roger Waters' North American tour dates:

May 18: West Palm Beach, Fla. (Sound Advice Amphitheatre)

May 19: Tampa, Fla. (Ford Amphitheatre)

    May 22: Atlanta (Philips Arena)

May 24: East Rutherford, N.J. (Continental Airlines Arena)

May 30: New York (Madison Square Garden)

    June 1: Philadelphia (Wachovia Center)

June 4: Ottawa, Ontario (Scotiabank Place)

June 6: Quebec City, Quebec (Colisee Arena)

    June 9: Chicago (United Center)

June 13: Los Angeles (Hollywood Bowl)

June 15: Irvine, Calif. (Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre)

    June 19: Oakland, Calif. (Coliseum)

    June 21: Vancouver (GM Place)

    June 23: Calgary, Alberta (Saddledome)

June 24: Edmonton, Alberta (Rexall Place)

June 27: Winnipeg, Manitoba (MTS Centre)

June 29: Omaha, Neb. (Civic Center)

June 30: St. Paul, Minn. (Xcel Energy Center)

    July 2: Milwaukee (Marcus Amphitheatre/Summerfest)

    July 9: Boston (FleetCenter)

    July 13: Hartford, Conn. (Meadows)

    July 14: Toronto (Roger's Center)

  3. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank MarcO and TimmyB. I owe each of you a blowjob.

You're welcome and the blowjob is not necessary, unless you're getting someone else to give me head, that might change my mind.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank MarcO for getting us the tickets today while I was busy at work.

    I love you,

    Tim

  4. I have always wondered if any major artist would ever tackle this idea? Hats off to Ozzy Ozzbourne for doing it first. It is historic.

Ozzfest Offering Free Tickets For 2007 Tour

    February 06, 2007, 2:55 PM ET

    Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Tickets to the 2007 edition of Ozzfest will be free, organizers said today (Feb. 6). The 25-date tour will begin July 7 in Los Angeles; details have yet to be announced regarding distribution of tickets. The event, which will be headlined by Ozzy Osbourne, will be underwritten by a host of sponsorship deals.

"For the last few years, ticket prices have steadily climbed as artists demand more and more money for summer tours," says tour creator Sharon Osbourne. "We certainly want everybody to make money; however, we also want the kids to be able to afford to come out and have an incredible experience. If we continued with the traditional touring festival model, we would have no choice but to raise ticket prices again this year."

Ozzfest will visit such cities as San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, N.M., Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, Mo., St Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Pa., New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Conn., Charlotte, N.C., Atlanta, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Nashville. Besides Osbourne, the rest of the lineup is still coming together.

The artist will be performing material intended for his first studio album since 2001, due later this year. Osbourne only played a handful of Ozzfest shows last year, giving way to mainstage acts such as System Of A Down, Disturbed and Hatebreed.

  5. I remember years ago Bruce Willis was on David Letterman well after Die Hard 3, 'Die Hard with a Vengance' had been released.

During the interview Bruce said to Dave that not too long before the interview he had nearly drowned and while he didn't know if he was going to live or die (hard), he said a prayer to God that if God would save him he would never make another Die Hard. The crowd laughed as he obviously did not die (hard) that day.

I just have to say this to Bruce Willis, it is not a good idea to lie to God like that.

  6. I'd like to see them do the Gram Parsons cover of Drug Store Truck Driving Man that Jay Farrar did on the Return To Sin City DVD! Dang, I've gotta put that DVD on right now!

I would enjoy seeing Son Volt perform "Drug Store Truck Driving Man" as well, unfortunately I will be unable to attend this show as I will be seeing one of Gram Parson's old bandmates Chris Hillman on the same night at Hugh's Room.

I was hoping that the Son Volt show would go late and that I could possibly catch the end of their set after Hillman, but that looks not to be the case if they are said to be going on at 8:30pm.

Chris Hillman has not performed in Toronto in years and the Byrds are my all-time favorite American band. Also the fact that Jay Farrar is far younger than Hillman makes this a none decision.

Unfortunately in the late nineties on two separate occasions I missed Son Volt in Toronto both times to see Neil Young's Bridge School Concerts at the Shoreline in Mountain View, California. Again an easy decision to make, though unfortunately I never saw Son Volt's original lineup due to those conflicts. At least on this time around I have already have seen Son Volt's latest lineup.

  7. I didnt single them out, I simply responded to the first post. I am sorry I dont want them to headline roo. I like Pearl Jam, and I would most definately see them at roo, but I won't drive 15 hours to see them so I would rather someone else headline, but if they were playing roo the only spot that would make sense would be for them to headline...nor would I drive that long to see Trey, or Ben Harper...who also both theoretically could headline (and have...Harper headlined didnt he?) Even though I like both those guys and definately want to see them live they just aren't draws for me. If that offends you I am sorry...but its the truth.

Ben Harper has never headlined a night at bonnaroo.

  8. my boys The Frontier Index are opening for the Autumn Defense TimmyB. I hope you'll arrive early to see them. Perhaps even write a bit for the site? I'd be curious to hear what virgin ears think of them.

Unless I'm delayed by work or school or extenuating circumstances, I'm usually early, so I will likely check out the Frontier Index.

  9. If Sufjan Stevens was playing in Toronto on March 24, I would have been at the gig.

Since this was an honest mistake and my hopes were quickly crushed, I'll be attending the Autumn Defense gig at the Horseshoe on Saturday March 24.

The Autumn Defense are the duo of John Stirratt and Patrick Sansone. Stirratt being an original member of Wilco and Sansone who is now also a member of Wilco.

This is what the Autumn Defense myspace page says about the band:

Sounds Like: Bread, Cat Stevens, early Bee Gees, Colin Blunstone, Nick Drake, Simon and Garfunkel, Love, CSN&Y, Byrds, 70s Soft-Rock

I would agree with those influences. I saw the Autumn Defense back in 2004 at the Horseshoe and they even covered the Byrds at the gig.

  10. Pretty close deranger, my watch said the gig was 1 hour and 19 minutes.

Oshawa will have a Stephen Colbert Day as Spirit edge Generals in Saginaw

    By Roger Lajoie

It looks like March 20 will be Stephen Colbert Day in Oshawa.

Ryan O’Marra scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and added another in the third as the Saginaw Spirit edged the Oshawa Generals 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night in Saginaw.

The loss drops Oshawa’s record to 23-18-1-4, but the Generals are still in fourth place in the East Division standings heading into Sunday’s game. The Generals host the Peterborough Petes Sunday at 6:05 p.m. at the General Motors Centre.

One of the sidelights of Friday’s game was a bet between Oshawa Mayor John Gray and Colbert, who host The Colbert Report on The Comedy Network. The bet was if the Generals won, Colbert would wear a Generals jersey on his show, if the Spirit won, March 20 would be declared Stephen Colbert Day in Oshawa.

The TV talk show host wins the bet, as O’Marra’s goals broke a 3-3 tie and helped the Spirit snap a three-game losing streak.

The teams traded goals in the first two periods, with the Spirit three times taking a one-goal lead with the Generals responding, before O’Marra fired the go-ahead goal at 12:47 of the second period.

O’Marra made it 5-3 with his goal at 1:44 of the third period to give the Spirit some insurance, with goalie Marc-Andre Perron making several big saves to keep the Generals from getting back into the game.

John Tavares continued his torrid scoring for the Generals with two goals and an assist, giving him a league leading 52 goals and 98 points. Tavares had seven points in the Generals 9-6 win at Windsor Thursday night.

Brett Parnham and Cal Clutterbuck scored the other goals for the Generals, while Dale Mitchell added a pair of assists. Loic Lacasse was in goal for the Generals.

Ryan Berard, Ryan McDonough and Tomas Zaborsky scored the other goals for the Spirit. Mitch Maunu, Nigel Williams and Tyler Haskins all had two assists for Saginaw.

The Colbert bet attracted a lot of attention to the game, with SUN-TV doing a segment on The Grill Room on the wager at 11 p.m. Friday and fans of the show having some fun with the wager at www.colbertnation.com and at http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml.

'PAGE MCCONNELL' IN STORES APRIL 17

We're excited to announce that Legacy Recordings will release Page McConnell, the much anticipated debut solo album from the keyboardist/songwriter, on April 17.

Page composed nine new pieces for this first solo album, which introduces fascinating new musical facets and lyrical concerns from an ever-evolving artist. Page McConnell combines the signature heartfelt vocals, memorable musical hooks, and complex animated improvisations that made his contributions to Phish so vital.

McConnell says of the album, "I started working on it about two years ago, not with an end goal in mind, but for the joy of the process. As the project evolved, I realized the songs held together as a body of work with some recurring themes, especially that of new beginnings. The last few years have been a time of great personal and professional transition, and I think that's reflected in the album."

Page worked closely throughout with engineer and co-producer Jared Slomoff, drummer Jon Fishman and guitarist Adam Zimmon. Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio make significant contributions. The album also features legendary drummer Jim Keltner (John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones) about whom Page says, "He's great -- the real deal. As soon as he walked in the studio we started tracking. Of course I was aware of his musicianship from the studio work he's done, but what I realized playing with him was just how far he could stretch things out. He was inspired, and inspiring to me."

Page McConnell was recorded in Vermont and Brooklyn between January 2005 and June 2006 and was mixed by Bryce Goggin, who first worked with Page in 1999 as producer on Phish's Farmhouse. Stay tuned to Phish.com and PageMcConnell.com for more information as we get closer to the album's release date.

  13. Sloan will be performing a FREE gig at Winter City 2007 at Nathan Phillips Square this Saturday January 27, 2007 at 7pm.

I hope to see some of you there.

I absolutely love their latest effort 'Never Hear the End of It,' and I'm looking forward to hearing songs like "Who Taught You To Live Like That," "Fading Into Obscurity," "I Understand," "Ill Placed Trust" and "Last Time in Love" live.

    Tim

  14. hey AD you and TimmyB should hang out. you know...and not have any fun together.

I'm all about having fun, especially at concerts that I will actually be attending.

If I'm wrong I'll be paying whatever price to get me at a reunited Led Zeppelin concert and I will be sure to say you were right phorbesie.

But I'm not going to hold my breath. Robert Plant doesn't want to tour as Led Zeppelin agan. When Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were being interviewed for their greatest hits albums a couple of years ago they said they were open to the idea, but not Plant. And the same conversation happened when Led Zeppelin went into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Robert Plant could change his mind, but I doubt it. I love Led Zeppelin and I also love most of what they have done since.

I'll look forward to the next Strange Sensation album and even more so to the T Bone Burnett and Alison Krauss project that Plant says he has on the horizon. That will be fun.
