Good to see you on your birthday Greg,
May you have many, many more in health and happiness!
-
Clint Eastwood is just about the coolest man on the planet.
Agreed, Eastwood and Paul Newman are the two coolest living actors on the planet.
-
The Beatles broke up.
-
If Philly has a similar lineup to the 1985 concert, ie. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Crosby, Stills & Nash and this time having the members of the Rolling Stones perform together I think I'll be attempting a trip to the city of brotherly love.
-
Rachael and I are going to see the Hamilton show and I got a single for Toronto.
-
Happy Birthday Bruce,
May you have many more in health and happiness.
BTW I can't believe that Bruce Cockburn is sixty years old! He looks great for his age, it must be all that bike riding.

My gf just heard about Zooma being cancelled and thought out loud about grabbing a Big Summer Classic as a sort of consolation ticket.
I wonder how many others will think similarly?
Possibly quite a few. But not me.
-
what were the ticketmaster charges for each ticket on this one?
The stones tix each had about $20 in TM fees. I can't imagine buying 4 tix and not getting the fees refunded. I smell a great place for a Class Action suit.
The money fans get back include the service charges which as you stated could exceed $20.
The money we do not get back is the handling fee of $1 or $2.
-
What a TOTAL rip-off.
What are you referring to? The Rolling Stones being a rip-off?
Personally this will be my eighth Stones concert and I have loved each and every one. They put on a great rock and roll show and the songs, my goodness the songs!
I have only paid the top ticket price twice and have ended up in the first ten rows both times for the eight shows.
But the light show and fireworks and video screens make it great for all even if you are far back in the nose bleed seats.

At least the Big Summer Classic is selling well. It seems that their eyes weren't bigger than their mouths.
I hope that makes some people happy, I know that Cyberhippie is!

Update: Organizers Pull Plug On Zooma Tour
By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. and Ray Waddell, Nashville
The inaugural Zooma tour, which was to be headlined by Trey Anastasio and Ben Harper, has been canceled. Sources say ticket sales were badly underperforming in some markets, but organizers would say only that "due to unforeseen circumstances, it has become clear that it would not be possible to provide [an exceptional] experience at the level initially envisioned."
"Rather than go forward with a tour that falls short of what was conceived, everyone involved has mutually agreed that it is best to cancel the tour altogether," the statement continues.
Zooma was scheduled to run from June 13 to July 31 and feature a high-profile cast of supporting acts, including the Black Keys, Galactic, Gomez, Medeski Martin & Wood and Jurassic 5.
Fans who purchased tickets through Anastasio or Harper's Web sites, as well by Ticketmaster's phone or online outlets, will receive automatic refunds. Tickets obtained via other locations will be refunded at point of purchase.
Anastasio's Web site says the former Phish guitarist is already plotting a new summer tour itinerary. It is also hosting a clip of Anastasio's new band from its first studio session in Nashville earlier this year.
Zooma was the second major jam-band tour to be announced for this summer. As previously reported, the String Cheese Incident will headline the BIG Summer Classic 2005, which will launch with shows July 2-3 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo.
Big Summer Classic producers say their tour is still on and selling well. "We're kickin' ass," String Cheese Incident manager Mike Luba tells Billboard.com. "We're projecting that almost everywhere will sell out. But we're playing 10,000 seaters, not 20,000 seaters. We feel like or cost is fair to the promoters, and the ticket prices are fair to the kids."
-
Rumour has it that the average ticket sales for this tour was 1800.
TimmyB - I am sorry that Rachael is so disappointed, I know she was looking forward to seeing BH.
Thanks Marc,
She is going to be disappointed like if I had tickets to see Neil Young and it got cancelled due to a lack of ticket sales. Think about it.
It just goes to show you that touring festivals don't often work in this era of concert going. Especially hippie related touring festivals.
The Furthur was never too successful.
The H.O.R.D.E. had a couple of good years but stopped in 1998, which ironcially enough was when Blues Travelers popularity started diminishing and Bobby Sheehan passed on, may he rest in peace.
And last years Lollapalooza with the String Cheese Incident headlining one of the shows ended up killing one of the most successful multi-act tours in history.
Now the Zooma tour never even has one gig.
-
May you rest in peace Domenic Troiano,
Ironically the only time I saw you was at a tribute to Ronnie Hawkins who was at the time about to die with terminal cancer. Hawkins ends up recovering against all odds and now you die from cancer instead.
Today I will definitely be putting on some ol' Troiano era Guess Who and maybe some ol' Troiano era James Gang on LP's, if I can find the records.
-
Did you ever get tickets?
I got mine for the Roger Centre in line. I debated seeing the Stones in Ottawa as well, but held off. Which might be a mistake as it looks like it's nearly sold out.
-
That sucks! Rachael is going to be even more pissed than me as Ben Harper is her favorite artist.
-
Best Jack and Jill party ever?
As long as there is a lot of gambling, I'll say yes.
-
First I listened to some Bob Dylan shows I've seen live before I went to bed last night after midnight.
Then after I woke up, because of Esau, I listened to 'Shot of Love' as it has "Every Grain of Sand" on it. Then I listened to the first two discs from Bob Dylan Audio Book "Chronicles Volume One" read by Sean Penn.
I went down to get the mail and low and behold there is my tickets to see Dylan with Willie Nelson at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio the day after my birthday on June 26th!
I think later I'll put on "Masked and Anonymous" and/or "MTV Unplugged."
I wonder what else I could do to celebrate the birthday of the greatest songwriter of all time?
-
Happy 36th Birthday Rich,
May you have many more in health and happiness.
And thanks again for bringing Marc Ford back under the wing of the Black Crowes.
The Crowes Kool Haus gig was fantastic and I look forward to seeing you guys again at bonnaroo and in Darien Lake with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
-
Are you sure? I looked at bobdylan.com and it was a bit confusing on the subject. Of course, Dylan alone is more than enough, but I've never seen Willie...
Check the Tour section of www.bobdylan.com and it states that these Canadian dates are without a supporting act.
-
yes, thanks timmyb, i read that too.
but, go to TM and find the kitchener show or the hamilton show.
Patience my young Padawan.
-
I've already seen Bob Dylan in Detroit and Buffalo with Merle Haggard and Amos Lee and will be seeing Dylan in Cleveland with Willie Nelson and the Greencards so I don't think I'll be flying out to the west to see Dylan this year.
Though if I ever do I'll let you know.
As for the show you'll be attending, Dylan is doing that show with no supporting acts.
-
Hey Greg,
Are you thinking about going to any of these gigs?
-
Hey Greg,
"Every Grain of Sand" is easily in my top five of favorite Bob Dylan songs.
Remember when we got it at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1998? I nearly feel out of my chair.
-
Happy 64th Birthday Bob,
May you have many, many more in health and happiness!
The twenty-four shows of yours that I have attended this past decade have been some of the most special moments of my life.
And in the next decade I look forward to hopefully seeing twice as many more times.
I thank the Comander and Chief in this world and the world that we don't see that He gave you to the world.
