  1. Looks like a great show, I wish I was there. But I decided to pass on Montreal when I realized I would be seeing the Black Crowes in the opening spot for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers this summer. Plus bonnaroo is a big time bonus, I think they should be headlining over Widespread Panic for one of the nights.

I haven't seen this reunion tour yet but I have to 100% agree with you AD on your statement of the "Greatest rock and roll band on earth" I saw this exact lineup (minus different bassists) in 1996 through 1997 and they were by far and away the best live rock and roll band then and I don't see why they would have lost a step in the time that has passed. If anything they might be better as Chris Robinson and hopefully Marc Ford aren't strung out on drugs anymore.

If we do get "No Speak No Slave" in Toronto, I'll think of you AD. Though I would have rather have had "Descending" which we will not get now as they did it in Montreal. Though I did get "Pimper's Paradise" in 1997 at the Molson Amphitheatre.

This will be my first Black Crowes gig since they reunited this year and I can't wait!

I'm so glad the Steve Gorman is a latecomer to this reunion and I hope this classic lineup gets in the studio soon!

In the meantime it's going to be great at the Kool Haus tomorrow as well as bonnaroo and Darien Lake with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers!

If it's not pouring rain tomorrow, I'll be lined up early for this gig so I hope to see you all there.

  3. It's been a while since I have posted here with any regularity as my computer was not working for the last couple of months.

I actually had it fixed for a while but didn't bother to pick it up as I found I was getting a lot of things done, like cleaning my place, reading books and exercising. And now that I have it back I hope I don't stop doing these things.

If I do I might have to break my computer purposely.

    Wilco Ready to Dance

Band to hit the studio after summer tour

Wilco will head back into the studio in August to begin recording the follow-up to 2004's A Ghost Is Born. "For some reason, we've been digging a lot of dance music recently, like Fela Kuti," says Wilco singer Jeff Tweedy, "so look out!"

First, the band will kick off a summer tour on May 28th in Washington. Fellow rockers My Morning Jacket and hip-hoppers the Roots will pop up along the way. "I read an interview where [Roots drummer] ?uestlove said he really likes A Ghost Is Born," Tweedy says of the pairing.

Filmmaker Sam Jones, who directed the acclaimed 2002 Wilco documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, captured the band live during its recent four-night stand at Chicago's Vic Theatre. A live DVD is due later this year.

    Wilco tour dates:

5/28: George, WA, Sasquatch! Festival at the Gorge

    6/11: Berkeley, CA, Greek Theatre

6/14: Los Angeles, Greek Theatre (with the Roots)

6/16: Telluride, CO, Telluride Bluegrass Festival

6/17: Morrison, CO, Red Rocks (with the Roots)

  5. Happy 55th Birthday Stevie,

May you have many, many more in health and happiness. And may you tour for your upcoming album as I would love to see you live!

1950 - Stevie Wonder (Steveland Morris) is born in Saginaw, Mich. He is blind at birth. One of the most successful recording artists in history, his biggest solo single is "I Just Called to Say I Love You," which stays at No. 1 for three weeks in 1984.

Wonder Unveils Video, New Album Release Date

Stevie Wonder unveiled the first music video to feature video description technology for blind and visually impaired music fans yesterday (May 9) in Los Angeles. As previously reported, the standard and description-enhanced clip (narrated by Busta Rhymes) for "So What the Fuss" will be premiered tomorrow via Yahoo! Music.

"The whole point is that there are 10 million people who are blind or have low-vision and are not able to enjoy the experience of seeing music videos," said Wonder. "Why shouldn't we be able to experience that? I don't want this to be the last video description video; this is far bigger than me. We need to do everything to make the playing field of technology fair."

Joining Wonder were Motown president Sylvia Rhone, "Fuss" video director Paul Hunter and Linda Idoni, West Coast director of operations for the Media Access Group of WGBH. The Boston public television station pioneered the video description technology in 1990 and wrote the "Fuss" narration.

Attendees, who included members of the media and students from the Foundation for the Junior Blind, donned black blindfolds emblazoned with the title of Wonder's forthcoming album, "A Time 2 Love," to fully experience the Rhymes-narrated version. The video is set in an apartment and its surrounding neighborhood.

Talking about his new album, Wonder said the long-awaited/much delayed project is now slated for a June 14 release. The album is comprised of 16 tracks, with two bonus cuts earmarked for release in foreign markets. According to Wonder, these 18 tracks are three shy of the total number of songs on his groundbreaking double-album, "Songs in the Key of Life."

Among the album's additional selections are the title cut (co-written by labelmate India.Arie) "From the Bottom of My Heart" and "Positivity." Wonder also noted that another song he originally wrote a while back for Luther Vandross, "My Love Is on Fire," will appear on "A Time 2 Love" as well as on the Vandross tribute album being assembled by BMG North America chairman/CEO Clive Davis.

Though he declined to reveal the name of the second single, Wonder said the video for it would also feature the video description technology. As for rampant rumors that he will stage a concert this summer in New York, Wonder would say only that he "hopes to be there soon" after he delivers the album to Motown and his wife delivers a new child, due May 13 (Wonder's own birth date).

  6. Happy 72nd Birthday Willie,

May you have many more in health and happiness.

I look forward to seeing you again for the 8th time in Cleveland (w/ Bob Dylan) on June 26, and I hope I get to see you this year again at Farm Aid (w/ Neil Young) in the fall.

1933 - Country singer Willie Nelson is born in Abbott, Texas. More than a dozen of his songs hit No. 1 on Billboard's country singles chart. Two reach No. 5 on the pop chart: "Always on My Mind" and "To All the Girls I've Love Before," a duet with Julio Iglesias.

Ryan Adams Readies Two CDs, Hits Road

As tipped here last month, singer/songwriter Ryan Adams will release three separate albums in 2005. The first, the double-disc "Cold Roses," is credited to Ryan Adams and the Cardinals and is due Tuesday (May 3) via Lost Highway. The band consists of guitarists J.P. Bowersock and Cindy Cashdollar, drummer Brad Pemberton and bassist Catherine Popper; Rachael Yamagata contributes vocals and piano to three tunes.

Adams has firmed up plans for the next two projects, details of which he revealed to Billboard.com earlier this week at the Jammy Awards in New York. On Aug. 9, Lost Highway will unveil "Jacksonville City Nights," which was formerly titled "September." Says Adams of the set, "It's very, very honkytonk."

The last album, "29," is due Nov. 2. "It's myself and people like J.P. Bowersock in one room together," Adams says. "They're all story songs; it will be nine songs long."

Adams utilized the Jammys stage to unveil a new song, "Beautiful Sorta," from "Cold Roses," as well as team with the Dead's Phil Lesh for a sprawling cover of that band's "Wharf Rat."

The artist began a North American tour last night (April 27) in Northampton, Mass., and has dates on tap through May 21 in Washington, D.C.

I enjoyed this show more then the ClassicAlbumsLive show of Grateful Dead material at the Phoenix as the band seemed less tense and more laid back.

I believe that had a lot to do with the vibe the band got from the PJC crowd.

Great playing and great crowd response.

  11. I coincidently was just talking about how much I missed Blues Traveler yesterday. I have seen Traveler seven times but not since 1999 actually that a solo John Popper show, I mean 1998.

They have not been back to Toronto since they headlined their final HORDE Tour at the Molson Amphitheatre in 1998.

I would certainly make it to that gig.

  12. I might have to make my way up to Ottawa to see this gig. Though I think I'm going to wait to see if their is a Toronto date first.

I saw Mark Knopfler's last tour at Massey Hall and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. To me it's well worth the $120 and then some.

  13. ARTIST ADDITIONS ROUND 5

We are pleased to announce the following additions to the Bonnaroo 2005 lineup:

    Bob Weir and RatDog

    Signal Path

    Heartless Bastards

    Josh Ritter

Tickets for the 2005 Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival are on sale now through Bonnaroo.com.

Complete festival information is also available at Bonnaroo.com, which will be continually updated.

  14. The Montreal tickets are $45 after all taxes and service charges, plus they're playing at the Metropolis... Seems like a waaay better deal to me than $57 for the Kool Haus

    Agreed about Marc Ford

    AD

I was debating on going to Montreal as well, but now that I'm seeing the Crowes at bonnaroo and with Tom Petty (hopefully a couple of times) I'm going to pass on the Montreal gig.

I thought it was funny that ticketmaster had the sameday random wristband policy in effect for the Black Crowes gig at the Kool Haus.

The Crowes gig is General Admission and wasn't going to sell out if less than five minutes so it was completely usless to hand out tickets for a draw. Silly ticketmaster.

Also TheGoodRev, it was nice to meet you in line today, it's hard to believe that we hadn't meet before isn't it?

  15. For all of you Parrothead's out there, Jimmy's coming back to Toronto for the first time in nearly a decade.

I've never seen Buffett and might go, it just depends on if I get back from bonnaroo in time and what kind of shape I'm in?
