  1. [color:purple]extra for me?

    kidding ... good work TimmyB.

Even with a $50 membership fee split between 4 tix it's still a pretty good deal. My CC's are just wayyyyy too hot right now :(

I was on the floor for the last tour and it was a complete blast (I hadn't seen them since the Unforgettable Fire tour in '85!!!!)

1985!? That's amazing, I only wish I was going to gigs at 10 or 11.

That's why I paid U2 $30 USD each of the past 5 years so I would have no issues getting great seats for their next tour. I do the same for Eric Clapton.

You'll be able to get tickets on the general on sale, it's the Rogers Centre for goodness sack.

    Peace,

    Tim

  2. Yes because I have been a paying member to U2.com for five years, but unfortunately you may only use up to four tickets for the password and I'm saving my ticket for a second Toronto show or a gig elsewhere like Detroit.

    Peace,

    Tim

  3. I just scored three on the General Admission Floor.

I'm so excited to finally be on GA the floor for U2.

And the tickets before service charges were only $57 for GA, which is a sweet price to see the biggest band on the planet of the past thirty years.

    Peace,

    Tim

  4. Thanks KanadaKev,

    And Hey Velvet,

I can't believe I was in Hampton, VA in March with you and that I'm going New York City in April to see Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr play together at Radio City Music Hall and then I'll be back in NYC to see Pete Seeger's 90th Birthday Concert at the Gardens.

It's going to be a historic two month period of concerts for me.

I just hope I will be able to work a month straight in April to pay for all these trips.

    Peace,

    Tim

  5. www.neilyoung.com

On Neil Young's official website there is a link for a pre-order for the Archives Vol. 1 in three different formats with prices and everything. I guess it is finally happening, I did not believe I would see this set until after the geart Mr. Young left this earth behind and his family would release the set.

    Peace,

    Tim

  6. I just picked up my tickets to see this amazing Tribute/Birthday concert for one of the greatest people to ever walk this earth, Pete Seeger.

    Peace,

Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, John Mellencamp and Emmylou Harris are among the dozens of musicians who will celebrate American folk music legend Pete Seeger's 90th birthday with a gala concert at Madison Square Garden on May 3.

Other artists scheduled to appear include Steve Earle, Joan Baez, Juanes, Richie Havens, Kris Kirstofferson, Tom Morello, Billy Bragg, Michael Franti and Ben Harper.

American Express pre-sale tickets for the event will be available starting Mar. 23 and general public on-sale begins March 30. More information can be found at www.Seeger90.com.

As reported earlier, the Madison Square Garden birthday concert is part of a series of 90th birthday events benefiting Clearwater, including a solo acoustic concert by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy in March and the annual Clearwater Festival in June.

  7. I just saw the lineup for Gratefulfest. I would guess that Rothbury's line up will hurt Gratefulfest #10's ticket sales. Far more people around the Great Lakes and beyond will likely go and pay to see the Dead for a night along with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, the Black Crowes, Gov't Mule and many more than see the Dark Star Orchestra for three nights.

It's the choice between 4 original (I count Mickey Hart) members of the Grateful Dead and seeing a Grateful Dead cover band. I enjoyed seeing DSO last year on Thursday night at bonnaroo but I would never pick them over the actual Dead.

And looking at the cost Rothbury is an extra $150 to see Dylan, Nelson, Crowes, etc, etc. I travel to Michigan on occasion just to see Dylan for well sometimes close to $100 USD. Plus all I know who went to Rothbury said it's one of the best festivals they ever attended last year.

    Tim

  8. The Rothbury Festival is now on sale.

I just picked up my tickets for it. I would have liked to have gone to the first one, alas I already had plans that I could not get out of so I'm glad to be going this year, especially with Bob Dylan, the Dead and the Black Crowes on the bill not to mention Willie Nelson, Gov't Mule, Guster, Ralph Stanley and Zappa Plays Zappa.

    Peace,

    Tim

  9. I have seen Eric Clapton do all those songs (minus "Little Wing") with Derek Trucks in two shows in 2006 and 2007 other than "Dreams" so I would have been most excited about the Allmans Brothers Band classic with Slowhand with "Layla" being a close second.

    Peace,

    Tim

  10. I originally was going to see Fleetwood Mac next Thursday, but I have class that day and since I was able to go this past Tuesday without missing work or school I jumped on it.

That said Danielle is still going next week and needs to find someone to go with her and I enjoyed the show so much that I want to go again, but I really shouldn't.

    Peace,

    Tim

  11. Damn I wish I was at this gig.

In the end I didn't want to pay scalper prices for the ticket that didn't guarantee that Eric Clapton was going to be on the bill. And by the time it was completely confirmed I then had too much on the go to be able to go.

    Tim

  12. After seeing several parts of Fleetwood Mac separately over the years, I thought it was time to see them all together, well at least four fifths of the Rumours line up together as Christine McVie retired after the Dance Tour in the late nineteen nineties. So on Saint Patrick’s Day 2009 I walked into the Air Canada Centre to see Brits Mick Fleetwood, John McVie with their sometime Yankee band mates Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

I was disappointed to miss the last time Christine came out on the road with Fleetwood Mac and I had regretted missing their return without her in 2003, especially after I saw Lindsey and Stevie separately perform solo gigs in 2007. Lindsey Buckingham one of the most unheralded stars in the history of rock and roll, blew me away at the Danforth Music Hall a couple of years ago. He is the complete package, a fantastic guitarist, with material that is uniquely his and he performs with passion. In the same year I saw Stevie on my birthday where I witnessed that sultry voice that still had the crowd hang on every word like few others can. So in 2009 a part of the Fleetwood Mac Unleashed: Hits Tour 2009 I was sure to get a ticket.

And the hits tour was just that full of their hits that focussed mainly on the first three albums with Lindsey and Stevie in the mid seventies, ‘Fleetwood Mac,’ ‘Rumours’ and ‘Tusk.’ The most songs came from ‘Rumours’ which has to date sold over 30 million units worldwide. To replace Christine on keyboards they had Brett Tuggle and three background singers with Neale Haywood on rhythm guitar who were out with Fleetwood Mac in 2003-2004.

Opening with two songs by Lindsey “Monday Morning†which opened their 1975 debut, as in the debut of the tenth line up of the Mac, followed by “The Chain†they had the crowd eating out of their hands and then they blew the roof off of the ACC with Stevie’s chart topping “Dreams.†Switching between Lindsey and Stevie songs throughout the night, including solo songs Lindsey’s “Go Insane†and Stevie’s “Stand Back†they decided to tip their Stevie Nicks top hat to Christine by singing her hit “Say You Love Me†they also played another former Mac member song that of Peter Green’s “Oh Well.â€

With the show focussing six songs from ‘Fleetwood Mac’ and eight from ‘Rumours’ it was great to see four from the more obscure yet brilliant ‘Tusk,’ with hits singles “Sara†and title track which has to be one of the most unique hit singles ever released and though the ACC gig did not have the USC Trojan Marching Band, the song had a powerful crescendo that ended with a passionate scream from Lindsey as the song ended. They also performed from it Stevie’s “Storms†for the first time and Lindsey’s “I Know I’m Not Wrong.â€

The set ended with “Go Your Own Way†with Lindsey doing his best Bruce Springsteen impression by going up to the front of the stage and having the crowd put their hands on his guitar. The encore consisted of “World Turning,†“Don’t Stop†and the Nicks song “Silver Springs†which is one of the best songs ever to be originally off of a hit album.

Throughout the night it was still something to see Stevie and Lindsey look at each other while they performed songs that they had written for each other in love and in heartbreak. And they played on that to the crowd as they have done for over thirty years by holding hands while they came out on stage and by at one point having Stevie singing into Lindsey’s mic as he laid his head on her shoulder. Heartbreak now sells in the tabloids today but there was a time when it sold records, over thirty million and counting.

    Peace,

    Tim

  13. On night two at the Phish Hampton Coliseum run I saw David Fricke behind the lighting board on the floor. I have always been a fan of David's writing and it was great to see one of the main writers for Rolling Stone out on the floor watching the gig and that's exactly what he did and he never left for the entire show.

Throughout the concert I would sometimes catch a glance of David taking in the return of Phish and I was able to tell that David was not only a journalist reporting for RS, but a phan of the music that was coming from the stage in Hampton Coliseum.

It was especially great to see the opening song of the second set, the Velvet Underground's "Rock and Roll" where David could be seen moving a little more to the music and singing along with ever word of the classic song.

A man after my own heart, I wish there were more like David Fricke.

    Peace,

    Tim
