I wonder what it means for Duty-Free liquid items such as booze?

The reviews here echo my parent's sentiments from last night. "Van the Man" (as my dad so affectionately refers to him) is one of my father's favourite artists - he actually saw him play solo acoustic in a cafe in San Francisco in the early 70's...and totally walked in randomly to the cafe as well...
Needless to say, he was really dissapointed - he would have rather just sat at home and turned on one of his CD's.

I wonder if the priest has to confess to another priest every time he enters the strip club in order to walk to his confession booth.
Either that or he walks in with a blindfold.

Funny you should mention this, Bradm...
My supervisor at work wrote a letter to the editor in The Globe on this matter:

Moses Mayes (feat. Phatt al of God Made Me Funky)
Ha! That's amazing...Wasn't Phatt Al playing with the group "Len" (ala 'Steal My Sunshine')?

damn, i can't believe i missed this.
I saw Russel Peters do stand-up at Yuk-Yuk's like 9 or 10 years ago. I never thought comics were that funny, but Peters made me laugh so hard that night I cried. He's a brilliant comic and I really hope he continues to gain momentum. I heard somewhere, at some time, that he's going to star in a sitcom or something...

tell her to keep it onthe QT
I'm guessing the "QT" is similar to the "DL"?

Anyone planning on seeing Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby?

We'll be playing The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto this Saturday, August the 5th in support of the Dunes CD Release party.
We start the rockin' around 10pm.
I love the 'shoe...haven't played there in a couple years but by far one of the best sounding venues in all the city.
peace

I've been a 1-cup-per-day drinker for years now.
There was actually a time where I was hitting the 5-cup a day mark. I love coffee - the aroma, the beans, everything about it. I didn't really realize how much it was messing around with my body - my stomach was in shambles (I drink it black...cause once you go black, you never go back), couldn't sleep through the night, and was getting constant withdrawal headaches.
It wasn't until I went to Ecuador that I totally detoxed. One would think that in a country that has coffee as their biggest export the entire country would be hooked on the bean, but nope: they drink instant (and I absolutely LOATHE instant coffee so i stayed pretty far away from it). Coffee is a luxery item, made and exported mainly for westerners (this is another topic all together).
Either way, I'm back to about 1 cup a day now...it's an easy habit (like other stimulants and addictive substances) to get back into.

our's is working...
http://www.myspace.com/vanderpark
(no that wasn't a shameless effort to visit our page...but feel free to do so! )
i've had problems before ("maintenance issues" i think was the reason) but nothing like that. apparantly people had been hacking into others' profiles and messening around with their info so they've upped security measures or something. I dunno.

how does one party like it's 2006?
I believe partying like 'it's 1999' was creatively suggested through song, but i don't think i still know how to do that 7 years later...

I'm really stoaked for this bill -
Sushiboy has been really kickin' it these days, and has a killer new demo (plus i dig their t-shirts), and the boys in Skyhook never cease to amaze me: the talent in this band is unparallelled. The guitarist, Mikael, used to play in a band called Azuris Aurum. I'm not sure if anyone ever got to see them, but they were a real treat for the ears. Sophisticated compositions, amazing chops all around...these guys really push it, and the groove is intense.

While it's definitely biased, The Case For Israel by Alan Dershowitz might be a good read.
Aloha,
Brad
I'd recommend Dershowitz's follow-up, "A Case for Peace" - it is not as entirely as biased as its predecessor, yet the flavour is definetly a lot more politically moderate.

So what time is vanderpark palying??
I believe we're on around 11:30ish, probably closer to midnight...we'll do our best to go on post-maceo (i'd love to see that cat myself). But for those who come early, local openers Twelve 34 are a good time.
see ya tonight!
