  1. I'm there!

Though I've slowed down on the number of DMB shows per year in the last few years, DMB has been one of my favorite bands for ages. Carter Beauford has been a big inspiration musically for me and is defenitly the backbone of that band.

I believe this is my 17th or 18th show...i'm pretty stoaked. See ya there!

PS: Roshawn Ross of the Soulive horns has been touring with DMB this year and plays on almost every song...check out the version of #41 off the live release "Weekend On the Rocks" - it's killer. The trumpet solo he unleashes is mind blowing.

  2. So here's an techno-ignorant question relating to iTunes and le iPod:

Right now I have a fair chunck of my music collection on my 18 Gig laptop. I have iTunes on there as well, which is the library my iPod "recognizes."

    Now here's the dilemma:

I have a ton of more music to add which won't fit on my remaining hard drive space. I also plan on getting a new computer in the future, with much much much more hardrive space than i have now. So here's the dilemma, and the question: how can I transfer my iTunes library from my present laptop, to the new hardrive?

  3. I was always blown away by how sexually probing and outright bi and homosexual all of their relationships were.

...in addition to their huge amounts of womanizing.

  4. Actually, it was written by Carolyn Cassady, ex-wife of Neal (best known as Dean in On the Road, and later as the driver of the 'Furthur' bus)

I know Dean was the pseudonym of Neal Cassidy in On The Road...is Camille (one of Dean's wives in the book) supposed to be Carolyn?

  5. nice review. I remember Kobayashi from my freshman year in Montreal, and i was so blown away then. They got me into the whole funk/jazz/groove scene in Montreal. Shain, did they happen to do Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia"? They do a great rendition of it, and I think they've pulled it out at every show I've seen them play over the years. The band brings up the tempo, gives it a funkier flare, and throws some cool DJ "scratches" during phrase breaks. Anyway, glad to see these guys getting some press in jambase. They deserve really high accolaides.

  6. yeah, I've seen the vid before, and this kid is really amazing.

He's entertaining to watch, but I wonder what he'd be like playing in band...laying down grooves, locking in with the rest of the group. I'd want to feature him all the time, give him crazy drum solos. Moby Dick at every show!

  7. There should be a guy there by the name of Thai (a Thai named Thai, it's probably not how you spell it but it's funnier that way). He has a canadian flag tatooed to his chest. Talk to him (he twirls fire at night).

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll defenitly keep them in mind, that's great stuff.

mattm - believe it or not, i've actually heard of this Thai Tai guy (rhyme intended).

  8. ...well, more specifically Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

I'm pretty stoaked, and I'll be heading there for about 3 months. I leave in about a week and a half.

Any travel tips? Any good stories about the region/any of the above mentioned countries?

    Peace, love, and pad thai,

    Booch

  9. bah that book was poorly written and I didn't like it.

it seemed liek a rip off of alot of carlos casteneda philosophy. read his stuff much more interesting and better written.

Yeah man, totally agree. I found it extremely flaky. Mind you, I haven't read it since highschool (about 6 years ago) so maybe I'll give it a second whirl.

  10. I was at the Jimmy Jazz watching, or listening, to some ridiculously hot amazonian singer songwriter demi-Ani chick Melissa Larkin play,

Though this doesn't ENTIRELY have to do with this thread, I just thought I'd mention the following based on this first part here - the talented Melissa Larkin plays every Thursday at Jimmy Jazz with another singer/songwriter from Toronto named Zack Sheppard. To be perfectlly honest, Zack is one of most talented musicians I have ever encountered. Aside from being a brilliant multi-instrumentalist, Zack's lyrics are deep and insightful, songs are beautifully composed, while singing each line, strumming each note with an incredible amount of soul. He can captivate an audience like no other. He's got the gift of an entertainer - some people just have that performance power. I was at a show of his in Toronto at The Free Times Cafe (and several since...i've sat in on a few tunes with him) where he performed his own rendition of Dylan's, "Don't Think Twice." The audience was spell-bound, completely entranced by the amazing arrangement. So if you're in Guelph, or happen to catch one of his Toronto dates, I'd highly recommend it. The songs on his myspace site are slightly more mellow then what he is normally accustomed to. Listen to "Beautiful Mystery".

Just thought I'd pass the info along.

    Enjoy.

  11. If you watch carefully in the part where Bart is skateboarding down the street, you can see some of the shows current and former characters as well - like Bleeding Gum's Murphy and Chief Wiggum.
