  1. I just wanted to give a big thanks to those who came out, and Vanderpark and Throwback for having Inglewood Jack open up. I think the show was great fun, and I really dug both Throwback's and Vanderpark's sets. I can't wait for Inglewood Jack to do it again!

    Thanks guys!

The show was awesome, we had such a wicked time - always fun in Ottawa. IJ, you guys were killer...totally dug the grooves. Though Marcus isn't registered on the board I'll speak on his behalf by saying that he had a ton of fun belting out Bille Jean...only to roll over on his ankle on the way off the stage! It's pretty swollen and red...he almost had to sit down to play on saturday night. I'm not sure how he stood during the set friday. He's a champ, he'll be fine.

This was a night of great tunes...lookin forward to more of it.

  2. Some really neat stuff goin on - I really like how it starts (i'm a fan of a shaker). Vocals are interesting, the phrasing is very reminiscent of Leo Kottke for me ("you wake up in the mornin' and you roll out of bed, you roll out of bed..."etc - it's a good thing!).

But i agree with smoothedshredder on the production comments...the keys feel a little heavy to me just before the two minute mark. It's very "wall-of-sound" esq, which can be cool if that's what you're going for.

Around 3:01, that full-band rhythmic breaks is an interesting compositional idea but, for me, it kinda collapses the momentum of the tune. The groove that takes the band out of the section at 3:14 is great - i'd like to hear more of that.

The drum filling/solo that happens around 3:45 has a lot of potential, but again it breaks the momentum (especially at the end, around 4:07). The sound of the drums themselves seem slightly flat (dense, not pitch) but i don't know if that is myspace, my computer speakers, or a combination of the two. I really like how the band comes out of that section at 4:09 to end the track - cool 70s rock/the doors groove...i'd like to hear more of that as well.

All in all a cool track, and i look forward to hearing the final cut...I hope "Bounce" is on there - i love that track!

    peace,

    booch

ps: you have a request for a new 'friend' on myspace :)

  3. Hello all,

We're settin' up for a two-city mini-tour with our good friends Throwback and are so stoaked to be playing with Inglewood Jack in Ottawa. We had the good fortune of sharing the stage with them at "That Place" on "That Day", and can't wait to do it up again.

    Here's the deets:

  4. I've recommended it the other "What are you reading?" topic, but On A Cold Road by (Rheostaics member) Dave Bidini is a great read, especially for music lovers, as it deals with the life of a touring musician in Canada.

I read that this past summer while we were on the road in the maritimes and just after our little feat run...lets just say it was very appropriate.

"A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy O'Toole was such a great read, and absolutely hillarious. Dima, I can lend it to you if you'd like.

  5. Year of the Dog - Chinese New Year

Famous Dog People: Chiang Chin-Kuo, Zhou En-Lai, Lee Teng-Hui, Benjamin Franklin, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Jacques Cousteau, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, Mother Teresa, Jane Goodall, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien

    Years of the Dog:

    1910 ~ 1922 ~ 1934 ~ 1946 ~ 1958 ~ 1970 ~ 1982 ~ 1994 ~ 2006 ~ 2018 ~ 2030

I'm a DOG and proud of it. And Futureman's a Dog too, right? Or, wait...is he from 2040? or 2050? I can't remember the year when Bela introduces him...maybe 2030?
