  1. BradM, you make me laugh. Cardboard cutouts...God! I have a feeling I had better take Monday off, this is going to be fun.

Now, you know I love you all, but it is my experience that Skanktuarians can be more talk than action sometimes. We have 5 days to coordinate the much-needed props. I will see what I can do to create Sanc $$$. If someone with graphic talents wants to e-mail me something that they want printed on different coloured paper, and cut to money size, I can do it. Good point moe.ron, I will volunteer to stay and clean up the funny money. But I will not, I repeat WILL NOT clean up the mess left on the floor, as we all loss our shit from nero's set. I think we should be able to get New Years party favors for pretty cheap at this time of year. I will check my local party supply store. Also, we can cut and paste our avators into Paint no? Print them out and wear them as name tags? Just ideas peeps, let me know what I can do to add to the festivities.

POWER IN NUMBERS YO!!! WE ROCK!

  2. That was my first time seeing either band. Stairwell K is a hidden treasure. I really enjoyed their sound, and the back of the singer's head (I think he's a bit stage shy, but what a great vocal delivery). The only thing that bothered me a bit, was that they would get into this amazing funky, groove (like REALLY funky), and then end the jam. I could easily have been taken away with their grooves, if they nurtured them, and extended them. I would see them again though, but their music is much like the female orgasm, it feels really good, but it never reaches the trance of climax.

Homestyle was interesting as well. It's rare to see three saxes in one band, combined with (what should I call this guy? I don't know if this is right or not but here goes) a sampling dude? This dude (IMO) didn't add very much to the sound, although I believe he was experincing some technical difficulties. I felt that the sound lacked heart, it's like they weren't enjoying themselves at all (although I can relate to how alienated one feels on the Bayou stage). I found that my need to dance was sort of forced. I much prefer it when the music compels me to move. Perhaps I was still gripped by BNB the previous night, and I probably was more tired and intoxicated than usual. Thanks B for putting the show on. We missed all of you that were in Montreal for BNB. I hope you all had fun (no doubt).

  3. First of all, I am thrilled to have another nero show to go to. Fuckin' A+!!! Second, Velvet, way to take initiative on this. That room sounds too good, and carries too many memories to be dismissed so quickly. I am happy that dude may come to realize the power of the Sanctuary.

People PLEASE bring everyone you know to this show. I suggest we all get Sanctuary stickers to wear on our foreheads or something so he doesn't think it is all a coinsidence.

    Velvet, thank you. wink.gif" border="0

  4. I woke up around 2:00, still smiling and in the Burt trance. I got out of bed, and wouldn't you know it, my body was STILL dancing!

What a great show. Every time I opened my eyes, there was a smiling face. A bar filled with love and the grip of BNB.

I really, really wanted a Down with Disease though. It is going to take me a few days to come down from that show.

    Thanks for the Burt.

  5. I'm not going to DMB either. Last time I saw them at the Corel Centre, the comatose audience pissed me off. I think the Corel Centre sucks for anything but hockey (Oh, I won tickets for tonight's game! Three rows behing the visitor bench. I guess it's karma's way of apologizing for ruining my private party with the New Deal. I do however, wish it was for Leafs game).

I am saving all my 4/20 energy for our home boys. Go on...make me dance nero. MAKE ME DANCE!!! God love ya!

  6. Mike, BNB left me with some amazing memories, from the first time I saw you play Zaphods in Ottawa, and I was left wanting so much more...the Church at Berkly in Toronto, where the old wooden floors joined the audience in one mutual, sweaty, bouncy, wave...I remember feeling total bliss, dancing in a trance in Kingston... You were a perfect finish to a weekend tour a few weeks ago in London... Not to mention FRONTIER TOWN!!! Holy shit, did that rock my world!!! That may very well have been the highlight of my summer 2001. The news of the disbandment saddens me. You play together so well, though I have no doubt that idividually, you are all remarkable talents and will be supported in whatever endeavors you persue. Best of luck to you all. I will mourn this for a while. frown.gif" border="0

Thanks for the memories, you helped bring a lot of wonderful people together. For that you should be more than proud. frown.gif" border="0

  7. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to see them in London a few weeks ago and will see them one last time on Friday, before they part ways and leave us in a funkyless shoe society.

Sad, sad day. Let's get pissed!

  8. I was so happy yesterday after winning the contest, I could hardly keep from wiggling in my desk chair all afternoon. I couldn't concentrate on work at the realization that I would be at a private party with NEW DEAL!!! I made up my mind to take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and roll with it. Brad and I headed off for Montreal around 6:00 hoping to make it for the 8:00 admission. WRONG!!!! It took an hour and a half to get a quarter of the way there. The highway wasn't ploughed, we were only able to do 50-60 kms maximum. So we stopped at Tim Hortons, got a coffee and turned around. Wahhhhhhhhhh!!! Even when I win, I lose. I am still fighting the tears of utter disappointment. (sigh)

Well, thanks for trying B. Oh and thanks also for sticking to the plan of telling everyone what a fabulous time we had! wink.gif" border="0

  9. If I'm ordering it's Georgie's or Ricardo's specialty pizza (seafood, mmm). But, there's nothing like my homemade pizza. I cook an onion, beef strips and spinach together, then put that on a crust with sauce and cheese. GOOD GOD DAMN! That's heaven pholks.

    Gotta go eat now........

  10. What a timely thread. I (being a newly appointed computer owner/geek) have been downloading a bunch of movies this weekend. My first, must-haves were four Cohen brothers movies, Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Untouchables and A Clockwork Orange.

Then I went for stuff I have yet to view. Vanilla Sky, I am Sam and Blow. I also grabbed the third season of the Sopranos and about 15 episodes of the Family Guy, but I guess they don't qualify as a movies. Good still.

I'm not really sure when I'll have time to watch all of this, but the point is that I have it. I love my computer!!!

  11. I ended up purchasing this beauty from Dave's Used Bikes on Catherine at Percy Street. They even have a web page .

Great guys there. Along with the bike, rack, helmet and lock, I got practical street advise, advise against theft, advise on how to deal with "asshole cops laying bogus charges on cyclists" and many stickers including "One less car", "Death penalty for bike theives", and my personal favorite "Cyclists pump harder!"

How much for such a sweet package? $120.00 grin.gif" border="0

Thank you. Thank you very much!
