  1. Aberg, Aberg, Aberg. Wah, Wah, Wah. smile2.gif

Loosen the tie dude. School is of little importance when weighed against a good jam, a good night, good phriends and a good band. Life is short and school doesn't mean as much as you think it does. After all you can't be fired! If us old farts can do it so MUST you!

Don't be a weenie. Everybody's doing it. Common, I know you want to.....

  2. How was DJ Logic?

It was like he wasn't even there! I have the same opinion of him that I did after the MMW/Scofield show in Montreal. He didn't really stand out at all, it would have sounded pretty much the same whether he was there or not.

So does that make him good or bad? I dunno. If he stood out, then everyone would be saying how he ruined everything. If he didn't stand out then it can be said that he's talentless. Perhaps the beauty of DJ Logic is that he blends in with the sound. I certainly wouldn't base a decision to see a show or not, on his attendance.

I do wonder what a DJ Logic solo show is like though?

Wicka dee whaa, wicka, wicka whaa...

  3. I just got in from this weekend's tour. Harpua, I don't have the setlist for you, but I know you're going to be jealous when you see it. It was an awsome show (their first full show of the year) with some new tunes, lots of ol' favorites, some great vibes and lots of dancing heads. They were totally on (as always). After exessive partying the previous night at Ratdog, BNB brought me from a hung-over, no-energy light-weight to a dancing machine!

Speaking of Ratdog...I had a blast in Royal Oak. It was good to meet Schwa, Ace and Back Bacon. And I hear it was the first time EVER that Bobbie took to the drum kit! I am so glad to have witnessed history. I totally loved the show.

Did anyone catch Merl Sanders afterwards?

    Must...get...sleep.........

  4. Hey Low Roller. I walk the streets of Center-ville on a daily basis and see all kinds of "Apartment for Rent" signs. I would suggest touring up and down the side streets in search of these signs. That's how I got rid of my old apartment and found my new honey-of-an-apartment.

I also know of someone looking for a roommate, he's a bit of a wad but the place is smokin'.

  5. Good one! Here's my contribution to the laugh pool:

An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of

    years.

He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.

The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really

pleased that you can hear again."

The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three

    times!" grin.gif" border="0

  6. The tickets for Ratdog are general admission, so my advise would be to show up early. I have never been to Royal Oak before, but our party has decided to get a room on this side of the border in Windsor so we don't need to take EVERYTHING across the border.

I got strip searched once. I'm a bit cautious about these things now.

Look for the flag!!! See you there.

As I watched the band set up, I found myself getting really excited, as they had almost everthing necessary for a really kick-ass show. A tabla, an upright bass, keys, electric guitar....A LAPTOP....and A PROJECTOR.

The band set up in a semi circle position, all members remained seated (even the upright bass/laptop player which I found a bit odd at first, until I realized he wasn't going to play the bass in a traditional way at all, but would strike it as a form of percussion). Projected on a white sheet were images of nature. Elk, birds, waterfalls, with a single-frame, subliminal-like woman image thrown in a couple times. I found the images distracted from the FEELING of the music. I can feel for myself thank you very much, I don't need you to SHOW me that this is peaceful, nature inspired music.

The music was trippy, I'll give it that. It was improvised, I'll give it that. It had a very nice drone to it that was probably capable of inducing a trance-like feeling, I'll give it that. But it never really climaxed, it never built into anything too exciting. I kept waiting for some beat to accompany the drone, but it never came. The band was certainly in a zone of some sort, but there was no energy and not one member stood out as having visible, stand-alone talent. I'm sorry but I guess I'm just the kind a girl that needs a kick-ass guitar solo, a steady beat, or a superstar keyboard player. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the likes of Dave Lauzon, Remember Shakti, and Page McConnell respectively.

Next time, I won't flee from the pack. I hope you all enjoyed the Pocket Dwellers.
