  1. It certainly will test the market in a unique way. I'm thinking it will be a quick sell... U2esque... but with 6, or 7 shows within 7 Hours of Toronto... you could find yourself getting very lucky, or not lucky at all... all-in-all membership has it's privlidges ;).

But as you can see from this thread, not everyone is going... so what do I know? BTW, I would think my definition of a Number 1 fan is someone who looks forward to the maturation of a band... and not someone desperately holding on to a moment in time they can never hold on to again... Perhaps you require McCready back on the juice inorder to hear what your looking for, but I prefer him in his current happy and healthy state. But once again, what do I know... I'm new here. :)

  2. Hmmm... Seems like the blackholes known as 'spaces' have been replaced by characters. Seems like Hawkings was wrong... energy can escape from Black Holes. I suspect that the message that was trying to be conveyed is that:

    It's all about a Groove.

Definately.. and all you Toronto Heads: Check out Chameleon Project with the Void on May 20th at the Gypsy...

Any special requests? I wanna hear Welcome back Kotter this time... but smash it in the head with King Tubby would ya! :)

  3. I live in Toronto... might be going to Ottawa sometime bewteen now and then. I'm always at some stage of a movement (every end is a new beginning), (lifes a journey, not a destination), (we are all flying in a seeminlgy perpetual orbit, around a flaming ball of nuclear explosion.) and so on and so forth. ;)

  4. Ah, Louis... is there anyone closer to a 30's or 40's Delta Buddah? I don't think so. Gone Fishin' with Bing comes to mind. Thanks Doctor. I'll tell you what it's not... it's not Alt-rock-country. So don't be expecting no Wilco covers... but if they come up, don't be upset.

And yes, the bands will be downstairs. Behold the wonderful new stage, and sound system the Gypsy will have created for this great series.

  5. Yes, lasts years show in Toronto, which included someone falling out of a tree for "In my tree" (Thanks God! ;) He was okay of course). Eddie getting drunk off of Wine given to him by Geddy Lee that day or the day before, and feeding it to a mask of GWB which he wore out on stage for the encore and then placed on his mic stand for some Vintage Geddy wine tasting... and then for the Triple Encore(ok, 2nd maybe, I could be hyping it too much), he defied security and came crashing out after the house lights came on, to then play Baba O'Riely to a crowd who was scattering back to their seats becasue they assumed it was over!!! Also, too many Ramone covers (those guys were sucky too. Kidding) Truly boring... I won't even trouble you with the voice echo-sample delay chant Eddie opened the 3rd encore with in Montreal the night after... too boring... hehe... Or that during three nights in Boston, and over 8 hours of performance, they managed to play over 100 different songs... none longer than 7:00mins. Clearly not enough to keep my attention...

But I guess this wouldn't be Canada without someone piping in and sharing their negative sentament

    Kitchener... what!!!!

    Goulet!!!

  6. "The meaning of a word is its use" L.Wittgenstien. I'm trying to convey the use of the word jazz as conversationalist music, either scripted, or adlibed, but certainly with signiffacant amounts of both. Perhaps an adjective would of provided you with a direction to the jazz in the series, though I found it hard to pick only one with this line up, and it started to look silly on the flyer, so I regressed to the broadest definition I thought could contain it. Sure this isn't the 'traditional' jazz that fits so nicely with-in the realm of d'jango to be-bop to headhunting to crooning... but it certainly posseses the same spirit that each of the prior-mentioned was born from. Hope that clears it up. :)

  8. Great show last night!!!

I'm feeling it today though... or maybe it's this high pressure cell that seems to have snagged itself on the CN Tower :P. Stephen plays one mean (and shiney) guitar. And the rest of the Toolshed was buzzing aways nicely too. Hope you guys had a nice trip back home! And congrats, in waiting, to Stephen and his wife for their new arrival due this summer! High Plains, you guys were wicked, and so much better when the bass is actually pumped through!!!

Thanks a million Jay, once again!

  9. Good times indeed. I certainly enjoyed the vibe. Nice to have a big PA and sound guy to have all your new friends come over and jam out on! Totally diggin the Urbanizer thing... I think Wisers going to be a big band one day, great sounds comming from the stage for their set.

Mark Wilson is amazing... but what a foul mouth on that guitar player!!!

Thanks to the Ottawa/Stratfordonian contingent making it out too... and for the hula hoopin lesson.

Marge... Golf... yikes... bring your snowshoes or ice skates!!!

Everything was fun... that's the bottom line!

  10. Don't get me wrong... they're making a good move making it a stationary Festival. It just bums me out that so much of last years set was this years set too. It seems to make more sense though. Wish them luck...

So what are we going to bring to the Toronto Area of this Magnitude... Or does the Ampitheathre just fill this niche?

I like the whole camping aspect though.

    Anywho.
