  1. Hey all you Ottawans,

Beau's brewery is celebrating Octoberfest! They are hosting a party at the Vankleek Hill Fairgrounds Oct. 3rd. They will also be unveiling their new Octoberfest beer. There is a shuttle leaving Ottawa at 10am and 2pm. Tickets are available at all Bridgeheads for sure... (and maybe elsewhere in Ottawa not sure though)

Special guest is Norm from Cheers.

  2. Wow, I had no idea how much discussion this would generate! Thanks for keeping me informed on all the debates, I've passed it along to a few people at work. It turns out we rec'd a 'nice' letter from the mint just last week 'asking' us to stop putting on the decals. Fortunately by then all of our stickers were already distributed. Thanks for your support!

  3. Hey Everyone!

If you are interested, there is an on-line petition at www.notankers.ca that will hopefully protect the BC coastline. Up until now, for fear of environmental disasters, oil tankers have not been allowed along the coast between the mainland and the Queen Charlotte Islands in particular. The gov't wants to lift this ban to facilitate oil transportation.

If you live in the Ottawa area you might have seen a loonie with a decal on it...this is part of the initiative to spread awareness. Please check out the website to learn more and pass this info along to others that might be interested.

    Thanks! :)

  4. Hey Benny!

Great to hear you're doing well. We've been missing you at the shows, but have been getting lots of Marcy time which is always fun! Can't wait to see you again...(2 nights Saranac perhaps?)

    Take care,

    Kyla.

  5. Well, I don't remember too much, but I think I can help you out. My friend Dave Payant's older brother was the guitarist, but I can't remember his first name. Last I heard he was living out West. Pierre-Yves Martel played bass, he's still playing a bunch in many jazz ensembles and orchestras.

I think I even have a very badly recoreded tape somewhere...I remember REALLY liking them too. Thanks for reminding me about them

  6. Hey everyone,

I promised Ian at work that I would post about this...

So, for those of you who don't know me, I work at a coffeehouse. Ian is taking place in a latte art competition on-line and he needs votes. The website is jimseven.com

The finalists are about halfway down the page, and his is the guitar one (it also has Phunky Bitch as the soundtrack, if you search it on youtube, which I thought was pretty cute)

Anyways, if you check it out and feel like voting, please vote for him.

    Thanks!

  7. Wowsers,

    here we are, home again

where did it start and where will it finish?

    where does the time go?

(yeah, I'm too lazy to post it all)

Well, thanks to everyone who made my times there sooooo amazing. There was always tons of laughter and music. Thanks for putting up with the snow beast, she really needed a home. ;)

I will always cherish (not necessarily remember) the many Saturday nights and Sunday mornings with all of you. I definitely bonded with the basement, and I'm glad I had at least one visit with the attic. Meggo, I can't wait to see the pictures!

Thanks to the many boys of 40 Main for opening up your home to us for so many years. You da best!!

  8. Hey all you Ottawans, Blue Rodeo is going to be playing on York St. in the market for Canada AM this Friday the 21st...the only catch is that it is between 6:30-9am. If any of you are that motivated, be sure to come by Bridgehead and get a coffee ;) (yes, we open at 6:30!)

  9. Hey ya'll!

Thanks for the love! I've been pretty busy getting things set up here but it is a lot of fun. I've had some great visitors so far and always enjoy seeing familiar faces.

The Clover brewer is a must see/taste. (It is also the 1st in Eastern Canada!!) mmmmmmmm.

    Take care,

    Kyla.

  10. The phrase 'don't even get me started' comes to mind...

I was a huge Strangefolk fan, went through mourning when Reid left, and definitely love AOD. I rarely get to listen to them because most people just make fun of me when I try - you know who you are ;) - but I throw them on every once in a while.

    Buenos Diempos es la verdad!

  11. Hey everyone!

I know this is really short notice but...a few of us were thinking:

Why not celebrate tomorrow night in quasi-style!?

Ladies, perhaps it's time to dust off those old tacky prom/bridesmaid's dresses...

Gents, maybe you have an old monkey suit kicking around, or some funky slacks?

Looking forward to seeing all of you there looking sharp(ish)!

Of course there is no obligation, but more is always merrier!!

    Take care, and safe travels!
