Also sending vibes, hope & a nod to the venues that keep trying to get back up despite what the government keeps throwing at them through inequitably targeting them in comparison to other industries

Drummer Gene Champagne (The Killjoys, Teenage Head) in Burlington ICU with COVID-19
This hits close to home. I hope he pulls through. 52 years old....
Now off of ventilator, yet still in hospital. ((((())))))

There's a natural mystic blowing through the air

For those of you who have a fondness for the unique brand of gritty, dirty beats, grooves, light, darkness & sketch that was the Comfort Zone & Silver Dollar, there is a cool little piece from Spacing magazine:
So many great shows there....cheers to NewRider & Mulemomma for all the amazing acts they brought through there. I have often wondered whatever happened to Cosmic Steve.
These are among my MOST memorable nights, in no particular order:
-Regular Fat Cats residencies;
-Burt Neilson Band;
-Fat Burt New Years 2000;
-Jazz is Dead (faaaackin awesome...holy shit, like Jimmy feckin Herring in your living room, that band launched me);
-Derek Truck Bands (he was so wee...and so was I. Also mesmorizing);
Tony Trischka (nuff said);
Gov't Mule (among the sweatiest shows of my life, briefly met Allen Woody & Warren that night in the staircase before the show, poor Allen passed away days later I believe it was. I remember thinking at the time of running into him that he looked a little...tired. But the show was 'bumpin')
Burning Spear (ya mon....positive, uplifting times)
There are many more nights that have likely been lost or obscured in the haze.
It was a matter of time, but sad to see it go

I mean this kid is even younger than I am

But as c-towns eluded to earlier one of the absolute highlights of their Saturday night set was getting to watch 14 year old (he looks about 12) Brandon 'Taz' Neiderauer just STEP to Jimmy and shred the hell out of his guitar. Watching them trade licks back and forth set both my wholesome mom and wild wanderer sides afire. It felt like a moment in history to me. I was in the right frame of mind. Seriously though you may know this kid or recall his presence and solo on stage the evening that Colonel Bruce Hampton followed the light at his own birthday show...if you don't know who he is, you probably should, because I suspect he will rock us into our graves over the decades to come.

Good feckin riddance....not sure any of us really knew how dark it was going to get.
One way or another.....

This vid was a nice way to start the morning....an anchor in the chaos lol. I hope he is resting peacefully. Gone too soon....seems he may have dropped while making coffee...I suppose that's not a bad way to go at all.
Swifty!!! Good to see you around these parts...stick around!

Live Nation President on Future of Live Events
Vague at best...but maybe a glimmer

40 years ago that he left this plane (had to think real hard on whether to use plain or plane). My very first tape that belonged to me and me alone was The Beatles' greatest hits double album. Launched my love for music for sure.
Nobody told me there'd be days like these, strange days indeed

Hard to put a price on all those words. Feels icky...though would be interesting to hear thoughts on what else he should have or could have done while he has his faculties to choose

You always had your finger on the pulse there Davey Boy!

Was hoping that reading this would make me hopeful but admittedly it just feels icky on multiple levels. Perhaps scalping will be a thing of the past as a result but good lawd....hard to envision having the same opportunity for transcendent life altering experiences amidst such a heavy cloak of surveillance. The process of getting through the door sounds very expensive & exhausting.
