  1. No shit. wow. This guys crackers right?

Hey Kev, I know a few people...and how to make a great shank. Seriously though, hope all works out for ya.

Hahahahhahahha, we're being watched, now the whole internet is going to know about my 4.5 erection.

Meh, I saw a facebook group about that.

  2. Wow. Not to be a basement dwelling monitor starer- but what is the consensus as to Bobs issues?

Someone I know on another board had this to say last night.

Just got home from the show. During Unbroken Chain he almost fell over. They brought a chair out, he pushed it aside and kept playing. Then he started leaning over, then drooping over. who knows what he was playing. Then he fell. The band kept playing and they helped him to a chair an he pretended to play. Even kept playing after the song ended. They took a break and Bobby was done for the night. China>Rider was the best part of the night. Built to last encore. People were saying he was drunk, but he's old and its been 9 shows, plus 2 after parties and if he was on prescribed muscle relaxers, I guess its understandable.
  3. Another great loss to music. :(

I grew up hearing his music at home, in the truck and at our cottage regularly. I wasn't really much of fan growing up, but as years went on and my musical tastes and curiosities expanded and matured I began to appreciate a lot of his music, and when I do hear it it always reminds me of my Father. Thanks George. May you rest in eternal peace.

  4. Canada Post is now claiming they own on the term "Postal Code"

“It’s very odd. This isn’t happening in other countries,†said Ruci. “In England, the postal code is in the public domain. Government created these codes and people now have to use them. If they try to create what I call a ‘postal code tax,’ it will be preposterous.â€

The Canadian government’s open data initiative is patterned after a similar initiative in Britain in 2010. Britain opened its stores of government data to citizens in hopes of seeing people use that data to create new notification systems, public awareness campaigns and businesses based on statistics that were previously accessible only to bureaucrats. Postal codes were included in the information opened to public consumption.

Here's another article worth checking if your interested in this. Talks costs of using CP data base.

Almost exactly a year ago I wrote a blog post on Canada Post’s War on the 21st Century, Innovation & Productivity. In it I highlighted how Canada Post launched a lawsuit against a company – Geocoder.ca – that recreates the postal code database via crowdsourcing. Canada Posts case was never strong, but then, that was not their goal. As a large, tax payer backed company the point wasn’t to be right, it was to use the law as a way to financial bankrupt a small innovator.

This case matters – especially to small start ups and non-profits. Open North – a non-profit on which I sit on the board of directors – recently explored what it would cost to use Canada Posts postal code data base on represent.opennorth.ca, a website that helps identify elected officials who serve a given address. The cost? $9,000 a year, nothing near what it could afford.

Canada Post and the War on Open Data, Innovation & Common Sense (continued, sadly)

  5. Sad news.

I only saw him live twice.

1989 Molson Park, Barrie - Q107 psychedelic sunday. It was the 20th anniversary of woodstock (same weekend too I believe almost). Richie Havens, Melanie, John Sebastian, Country Joe, Buddy Miles, Sha na na, Iron Butterfly and a few others.

My only other show was the Comfort zone. My girlfriend at the time & I chilled pre-show with him and some other folks, and after the show we hung out on Queen for a bit. Glad I got to meet him.

Rediscovering a thought lost stub album recently, these were in it.

    Rest in peace Richie.

  6. So, they caught the guy and he's off to hospital currently, good. I'm curious though about the others I heard they have in custody, I heard 4 people at first, but then on the scanner I just heard suspect 2, and 3 before they got the guy in the boat.

    haven't you ever played COD?

When the first comment came the officer said "flashback" and then corrected himself minutes later.

"hold fire it might be flashbacks" >> "correction, bangs, it might be flashbangs"

    [edit to add]

and yes to playing COD, all but black ops series. Never used the flashbangs though, those were for the scrubs. ;)

  7. After the lockdown was lifted, reports of more gunfire (30+ shots) and apparently suspect was found hiding under tarp in parked boat in a backyard in Watertown. Suspect either dead or in standoff with police apparently.

    [edit]

Finally got scanner feed working again and heard "We have movement, just sat up, flailing about" and talk about thermal imaging from blackhawk responsible for locating him. No confirmation if it's the suspect though.

  8. Here is Eric Burton's band, I post this because Molitz is (pun intended) an animal on keys.

Particle keyboardist Steve Molitz will join Rock & Roll Hall of Fame singer/songwriter Eric Burdon (The Animals, WAR), guitarist Eric McFadden (Stockholm Syndrome, P-Funk), percussionist Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, Jackson Browne), drummer Eric Bolivar (Anders Osborne, Pimps of Joytime), and bassist Ron Johnson (KDTU, Warren Haynes Band) on tour as Eric Burdon & The Animals. The group is touring in support of Burdon's new album, 'Til Your River Runs Dry, and fans can expect to hear a mix of new material, as well as the Animals and WAR classics that helped land Burdon on the Rolling Stone List of the Top 100 Singers.

Dang, I hadn't heard about this. After checking Eric's website it looks like Ottawa is the only Canadian date, and the rest are festival or casino type gigs. Too bad, I was hoping for more Canadian dates, looks like an interesting band.

    Thanks for the info.

  9. What a disaster. Police claimed they robbed a 7-11 last night (even showed very cropped video snap shot of suspect at a store) - now they claim they didn't rob it. Police claimed one brother had bomb vest, then he didn't, now not sure. Police claimed one suspect ran over the other after he was shot dead in a shootout, now they claim the living suspect escaped on foot not car. (Original reports at 430am were of police running over the suspects body) and now finally, after holding the entire town in lock-down all day with tons of gunfire being reported by residents and media, police say the suspect may not be in Boston at all.

Oddly, on the scanner police were talking about inspecting a body (not the suspect killed), the hearse and route it was to take late this afternoon, so it sounds like someone else was possibly killed.

    It's like police squad. :dazed:

  14. The US has already sent a battery of missiles to Guam (US base), and a couple warships capable of shooting down any NK missiles.

Gaum is defended by terminal high altitude area defense system (THAAD) which can strike down ballistic missiles but only on their decent, although not that effective in protecting large territory, so the US brought the warship(s?) with the AEGIS defense system which can shoot missiles down on their ascent, or before they re-enter atmosphere which allows it to better protect large territory.

The US hasn't been conducting military exercises at sea on the border of NK for nothing.

I have zero faith, nor trust in the UN, after my eyes were opened to 'agenda 21' years ago. But, I'll save that rant for a different time. I will say though, the way the CPC have been dealing with them may be the only thing I've ever agreed with from that party.

  15. NK definitely shouldn't and can't be ignored, I agree.

It's just our media is so skewed it's tough to really know what's fabrication and what isn't. For example, US media portrayed Xi Jinping's speech condemning NK's actions as support for SK and the US. From what my friend Min was saying, China has warned NK, but certainly isn't supporting SK, and definitely not backing the US. Yet, western media has since the get go, claimed otherwise.

China really needs to step up and put some pressure on NK, they would be adversely affected if NK attacked SK or Japan. Wouldn't help the trade agreements they've been building (and built) if they don't, in my opinion.

Meanwhile in the US, Cheney has now come out of the woodwork and is claiming NK is a threat to global and "US freedom". That is a good reason for concern as well. Cheney is condemning Obama since he has dialed back the US military budget. Track record shows when this war monger gets involved, things get tense, fast. Especially since, aside from his oil interests, Cheney has a lot of interests in arms sales. Cuts to the military budget directly affect his bottom line. Going back to the Reagan days (or sooner?) he and people like Rumsfeld have been advocating and profiting from conflicts greatly. In my opinion, the world, especially media should be paying close attention to what's being talked about in Washington as well. I believe if conflict starts, war mongers like Cheney, Rumsfeld and their ilk will have a big part in it.

Wait for the phrase "war on terror" to pop up in relation to NK, there'll be a big shift in concern. At least that's my take on it.

  17. http://www.westislandchronicle.com/Brian-Mulroney-endorses-Justin-Trudeau

The Conservatives in Ottawa are furious. Brian Mulroney is not supposed to be going around praising Justin Trudeau. After all, Trudeau is Stephen Harper's biggest political adversary.

In an interview on CTV's Power Play political affairs show Monday night, Mulroney went out of his way to praise Justin Trudeau. And he did it so effusively, better than any Liberal so far.

"I've known Justin since he was a child. He is young, articulate, attractive - a flawlessly bilingual young man. What's not to like with this picture?"

Mulroney added a warning to Trudeau's political rivals.

"Anybody who treats Justin Trudeau with scorn or derision or underestimates him does so at his own peril," he said.

"We'll see what happens in the future; it's a long way from here to there. But no one should underestimate Justin. He is a man of some consequence."

The Conservatives didn't know how to react. Hey sat around waiting for a signal from Harper and "the boys in shorts" in his office.

But the Conservative party social media lashed back at Mulroney.

"It's amazing what old age can do to a person," wrote one Conservative blogger.

Another wrote that after Pierre Trudeau, Brian Mulroney was the worst prime minister in Canadian history.

There could be a connection with the Oliphant inquiry of a few years ago which revealed that Mulroney had accepted brown envelopes from businessman Karlheinz Schreiber.

Subsequently Harper ordered his MPs never to have anything more with Mulroney.
