  1. We cover everything from Foley to SFX/sound design, dialogue and music editing and mixing as well...we've done many animation series like Erky Perky, Franklin The Turtle, Max & Ruby, Medabots and on and on...there's a ton of animation from Toronto...

We did the SFX & atmoshere sound design in the movie. Foley was covered by Gary Daprato who's a brilliant Foley artist...

How was the film program at Humber and what are you up to these days in film land?...

  2. So I'm cruising through the local Blockbuster and what do I see on the shelves but the horror/suspense movie "KAW" which we did the SFX editing for...

KAW is a modern day version of Hitchcock's "The Birds" which also has actor Rod Taylor who also starred in The Birds...

It was a blast to make things squish and go BOOM in the night...

Yes, it's a bit cheesy, but for a Canadian film it's a good rent...and there are actual trained Ravens in the movie!!!...it's not all CGI...

  3. I've been planning to get out and see this, as I really loved the book, but with my dislike for movie theaters I've procrastinated in doing so.

But, my biggest concern is how true Penn kept to the story with the film. I've read some conflicting reviews from folks who have read the book about the movie but have yet to actually ask or hear from anyone I know.

CoP or anyone else who has seen the film, any thoughts on book > film comparison?

It's very close to the book but Penn took a few "liberties" yet he didn't "Hollywood" it up...

Emile did an unbelievable job of playing the role of Chris...the ending proved it to me as the closing shot is an actual picture of Chris but it takes a while to sink in as Emile looks so much like him and it is the finishing blow that drives it home...

  4. Well, it's just in theatres so if you were to show a DVD to your students then you'd kind of be promoting piracy ;)

Why not do a school trip matinee with them...guaranteed they won't be throwing popcorn or making out during this one...

There is the book that inspired Penn to make the movie though...kids still read these days, don't they?

  5. Or you could get a mac, which updates itself and never disturbs you.

Bad idea though if you're using programs that haven't been "apple approved" and compatible with the latest updates...such as Pro Tools, Logic, AVID, etc...

Better to turn off the automatic update and check to see if it's safe when your third party software states compatibility.

  6. Anything can happen at the Orbit Room on Monday nights, and most often, it does happen...and when a member is celebrating his 17th year of marriage it only adds to the surprises and truly amazing evenings of live music.

I don't even care what they play anymore 'cause it's all good ;) so when an old gem comes out of the bag like Galveston followed by a song that the band spent three minutes learning before the evening began it is such a treat to experience this most Mondays of any given week...

Same story as always...click on the link, click on the banner for David Drage and then click on the picture of the Sisters to hear a smokin' gem from last night!

    And as always, ENJOY! :o

    Led Sisters

  7. Made it into Orbit just at the end of the first tune Lowell last night to sit back and take in the Sisters and not throw up any mics...

Wouldn't you know it they decided to play Zeppelin's "Le Chien Noir" or for those of you who don't live in Hull ;) , "Black Dog"...what a blast that was and as always the music was smokin' and through the roof...

Here's Tumbleweed Tea from a couple of Mondays ago that I think is one of the best they've done...but after four years of Sisters maybe it's impossible to tell...and the "close to you" after Rob's beautiful solo says it all...

Click on the banner for "David Drage" and then click on the picture of the Sisters and enjoy some Tuesday Tumbleweed Tea...

  8. Granted, they've won an award....but it's a Juno

TOO FUNNY!!!...Kevin was commenting on that just the other night saying that the only thing the Juno has done for them is the occasional applause and some guy helping Rob carry his keyboard upstairs to the Orbit Room!!! :P;)
