  1. Kudos to them for giving away the download w/ show ticket. That's cool.

That is not at all what they are doing. They are including the price of the download in the ticket, which is why the tickets are now $10 more than they were previously.

  2. After two scintillating legs of summer touring, Phish has just announced the schedule for Fall Tour 2010. The 15-show tour starts with a headlining set at Austin City Limits and brings them to a number of venues they haven’t played before including the new 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, CO; the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, ME; the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, NY; the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH and Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Phish also visits three venues they have played before – the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, SC (11/18/1995 & 10/27/1996), the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI (12/29/1994, 12/12/1995, 04/04/1998, 04/05/1998 & 12/13/1999) and the Mullins Center in Amherst, MA (04/16/1994, 11/03/1994, 12/04/1995 & 12/05/1995). The tour ends with a three-night stand at Boardwalk Hall that includes a [color:red]three-set Halloween performance in which the band will don a musical costume by covering another group’s album.

(The entire text of this post came from Hidden Track. At this time there has been no announcement that the 10/31 show will be three sets, or whether or not the band will cover an album.)

In a first, the group will give ticket buyers free MP3 copies of the shows they attend after it happens at LivePhish.com. The band’s MusicToday site will be updated momentarily for online ticket requests with the request period ending on Friday, September 3rd at Noon. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 10 and 11.

  3. From http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/phish-to-release-coral-sky-dvd/

It’s been quite some time since a new Phish DVD came out, so we we’re overjoyed to see that – according to a newly created page on Allmusic which includes a JEMP catalog number – the band will be releasing video of its November 2, 1996 performance at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL titled Coral Sky. The show came just two days after the groundbreaking Remain In Light cover set in Atlanta and features a ridiculously good Crosseyed and Painless > Run Like An Antelope segment.

We’re still awaiting more details on the release, but at least now we can start salivating over what should be an incredible archival release. Other highlights besides the 45-minute Crossalope include a unique version of Ya Mar that opens and percussion guest star Karl Perazzo’s work throughout. Segments of this show were broadcast on the radio including the aforementioned Ya Mar and Crossalope. This marks the first time video of this gig will be seen by the masses and makes two archival DVD releases in a row from a three month period along with the previously released Clifford Ball set.

Saturday, 11/02/1996 Coral Sky Amphitheater, West Palm Beach, FL

Set 1: Ya Mar, Julius, Fee -> Taste, Cavern, Stash, The Lizards, Free, Johnny B. Goode

Set 2: Crosseyed and Painless -> Run Like an Antelope, Waste, Harry Hood, A Day in the Life, Sweet Adeline

    Encore: Funky Bitch

Notes: Karl Perazzo sat in on percussion for the entire show. Butch Trucks joined the band on drums for the encore while Fishman played Trey’s percussion rack. The lyric “Norton Charlton Heston†replaced “Marco Esquandolas†in Antelope. Portions of this performance (Ya Mar, Crosseyed/Antelope, Waste, Hood, and ADITL) were released to the syndicated radio program The Album Network.

  5. Clemens to Be Indicted for Perjury in Doping Testimony

    20clemensspan-cnd-articleLarge.jpg

    By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

Federal authorities have decided to indict Roger Clemens on charges of making false statements to Congress about his use of performance-enhancing drugs, according to two people briefed on the matter.

    An announcement is expected shortly.

The indictment comes nearly two and half years after Clemens and his former trainer Brian McNamee testified under oath at a hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, directly contradicting each other about whether Clemens had used the banned substances.

The committee held the hearing in February 2008, just two months after McNamee first tied Clemens to the use of the substances in George J. Mitchell’s report on the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball. After Mitchell released the report, Clemens launched an attack on McNamee, saying he made up the allegations.

Federal authorities had McNamee cooperate with federal authorities in 2008 to avoid charging him with steroid distribution.Clemens will become the second baseball star from the past decade to be indicted for making false statements about his use of performance-enhancing drugs. In 2007, federal authorities in San Francisco indicted Barry Bonds, the career home run leader, on charges he perjured himself before a grand jury investigating the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative. Bonds, who has retired, is cheduled to go on trial next March.
