  1. Jays trade Eveland

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired minor-league relief pitcher Ronald Uviedo from the Pittsburgh Pirates for starting pitcher Dana Eveland.

Eveland, who was designated for assignment by Toronto on May 24, posted a 3-4 record with a 6.45 ERA. The 26-year old left-hander has a career record of 16-21 with a 5.66 ERA with one save in 92 games, 53 starts.

Uviedo, has appeared in 16 games in relief this season for the Double-A Altoona Curve, where he's posted a 0-2 record with a 3.22 ERA. The 23-year old right hander has 28 strikeouts to go along with 13 hits and 12 walks in 22.1 innings pitched this season. He will report to the Jays' Double-A affiliate in New Hampshire.

  2. As a follow-up, we settled in on the Wild Goose Bar and Grill. It had a bazillion TVs, a giant screen with the game, and TVs showing the NBA game too. Lots of decent beer and an extensive menu. We didn't really eat, so except for the pedestrian mozzarella sticks, I can't comment on the food.

Of course, disaster struck in the third period, when karaoke night took over the main stage and PA system. Shudder. It was trainwreck into carwreck bad. We moved up to the bar to watch the end of the game, but it wasn't the same.

  3. Hey Sporties,

We have a friend coming in from out of town on Saturday, and his plane arrives right as the puck drops for game 1. He's a huge fan and we agreed to find a place close to the airport to whisk him to to watch the game.

Any suggestions? I'll preemptively rule out the rippers, he'll want to focus on the game.

  4. Unreal.

    Story, complete with video

A video has emerged of an Indonesian toddler who is hooked on cigarettes.

The footage shows two-year-old Ardi Rizal reclining with a cigarette in his mouth. He waves it around, and draws back deeply on the cigarette.

Ardi's parents claim that the child is addicted to nicotine.

His mother Diana 26, told Britain's Sun newspaper she felt powerless to deny the child.

    "He's totally addicted," she said.

"If he doesn't get his cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick."

Ardi Rizal smoked his first cigarette when he was 18 months old and now smokes 40 cigarettes a day.

The overweight toddler is deft at blowing smoke rings, but is so unfit he cannot play with other children.

"I'm not worried about his health and— he looks healthy," his father told reporters.

There has been an increase in the number of smokers aged between four and nine in Indonesia over recent years.

Authorities have blamed aggressive advertising and smoking parents.

According to the Sun, Indonesian officials have offered to buy the family a car if the boy quits.

  5. Okay, the line below is suspect although I doubt it is causing your trouble:

    ::1 localhost

Put a # in front of that line (i.e. # ::1 localhost), then save the file. When you save it, click save as, and make sure you change the file type from txt file to all files, because that file has no extension.
