  1. Hood: Yeah so I drove that girl home the other night... got a little make out action and a phone number

    BB: Sweet, way to go

Hood: Um yeah.... what did she look like? Was she alright? I don't remeber...

BB: Yeah she was a pretty cute black chick

Hood: She was black?... are you sure?..... hmmmm she was only 19, if that.

BB: (tears of laughter prevent response)

Hood: I'm going home early tonight

Raggamuffin was their usual predictable self, I enjoyed the show as always, but the scene has become infested with sleezy guys (other than Hood and Stapes). The ratio last night was poor!

I think the new hot pick up spot in town is the poutine shack next to Zaphods.... seems everyone is a winner there

  2. On June 1, 2002 Jukejoint will come to Ottawa and kick all your asses!

They have asked if anyone would be good enough to offer them a floor to sleep on after the show. Unfortunetly I don't have room for all 4 of them.

Anyone who offers up the space will be put on the list and receive waves of good karma

    thanks skanks

  3. THIS SHOW WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

    BEST TRUMPET PLAYER IN CANADA

2001 Montreal Jazz Festival Prix De Jazz Award!

2001 Jazz Composer of the year Nick Al1

    Worth calling in sick for

    -- Latin Jazz-Funk --

Formerly known as SHADES OF BROWN

Winner of the 2001 Montreal Jazz Festival Prix De Jazz Award!

CRUZAO "Since the late 50's jazz musicians have experimented with the tonal qualities of the 'chordless quintet'. In Latin America this approach has not been explored due to the dominance and omni-presence of the piano "montuno" or equivalent guitar structures. is modeled in that jazz tradition of 'the chordless quintet', and takes the same approach in a latin-jazz context. Featuring the Ali Brothers - Nick "The Brownman" and Marcus Ali - and dedicated to the amalgamation of latin rhythm, jazz harmony and funk groove,

. explores the inner workings of these artforms through Brownman's original compositions, intense *improvisation-interaction and raw energy."

  4. Starting this Sunday at 9:30pm and every sunday therafter

    The Groovebug

    Griffin's 284 Elgin St.

I will be curios to see how this room presents live music and the reaction of it's usualy "jock" clientel.

    Groovebug

Billed as "an infectious funk-insect with a soul-shaking bite", The Groovebug is a 9-piece funk band from Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). The Groovebug is all about 'energy' and it's their energy on-stage and in the studio that allows for a sound dripping in acid jazz and funk.

I know that The Groovebug is a band that most on this board would enjoy, I know that Griffins is a nice room(decore wise), this could be the start of yet another regular thing.

Is it possible that live music is becoming cool again?
