WOW. Make It Funky would like to thank everyone who came out last night for joining us in one of the most solid nights of music that Toronto has witnessed in a long time. From front to back the room was lit up with smiling faces and shining eyes, and mouths dropped in awe at what went on last night on the revival stage. King Sunshine were in top form! For thier return to revival for the first time in over 3 years they pulled out all the stops and funkafied the crowd. Dropping tunes both old and new they pillaged through a set of disco funk house material that kept your feet groovin and your body moving. A special thanks to KS for laying down a 3rd drop on "Its Da Joint" driving the crowd from awe to utter bliss as every arm in the room reached for the sky as the next breakdown approached. These guys are one of the best bands in Canada and they proved why with thier set last night. Just when you thought it couldnt get any better........Last night we witnessed the landing of an alien. Having played in Toronto 3 times before (twice for make it funky) last night was the true arrival of Mat the Alien in Toronto. That being said Mat layed down what is probably the best set of music ever witnessed at a Make It Funky event. That is a huge statement and its been a long time coming but last night Mat played the set he was meant to drop in Toronto. Seamlessly jumping from genre to genre with what seemed like ease on a set that had a difficulty rating of 11/10. Playing old funk weaving in prodigy, sharon jones, I wanna rock right now, and many other favorites laying them down on the crowd like no one else can. The crowd came to witness King Sunshine and Greg J and got schooled by an alien. Aliens do exist and last night one appeared in Toronto. Last but certainly not least came the one and only Greg J who stepped up to the decks like a champion after Mat to take us on a ride through mashup city, and we got down for the funk of it! Greg's talent as a dj was incredibly impressive on his sophmore appearance in Toronto as he showcased tune after awe inspiring tune of funky beats for the floor. The Make It Funky collective would like to thank everyone who came together to make this fantastic event happen. Big League Chu who warmed up the main room in style. Mez, Turtle, Linzee, Cory Dawkins, Farbsie Vs Sunpredictable, Mickey d (who gracefully gave up his set to allow for Greg to get his fill), Summit Rouss and our fabulous doorstaff laura, Morrissa and Erica, Who put thier all into making the event one of the best Make It Funky's to date. It was a true team effort and those efforts are greatly appreciated. Please let us know your experiences, jump on a msg board and tell a friend about your experience at the party. We love to hear from you about the good and bad as we are constantly evolving the formula and making the shows better and better which has been our goal since the beginning. Ol'Hickster you never cease to amaize me with your hillarious posts - keep posting while drunk! Kae Sun played a great set - he definitely was bigging up the NUFUNK Tonight at Clinton's. Funny thing about that article is that it says at the bottom the wrong date of the show! I guess bad press is better than no press!

I was pretty pissed to read this yesterday. uggh.. Kae Sun phone me today to explain... ... his side of the story is this: He was completely clueless as to who booked him - he knew it as "Jay from Toronto" not NUFUNK. He thought he was being asked if his sound was in the genre "NUFUNK" - he said he thought he was more hiphop. Brad asked him - so do you think this is more of a marketing thing ? Kae Sun then said -yes maybe, you'd have to ask the guy putting the festival together. words were kinda put in his mouth.

Sounds like a lot of fun making pedals! I think i'm more interested in making music than pedals - but in the pursuit of finding your own voice on your instrument I see this is a great skill to have.
