My friends Earthbound Trio are playing some dates in Ontario.. please check 'em out!
http://earthboundtrio.bandcamp.com/
https://www.facebook.com/earthboundtrio
Earthbound Trio has been steadily fusing into a live act that defies what a trio can sound like. Dwayne and Bob use their acoustic instruments with multiple pickups and loop pedals, while mumble’s multidextrous drum and percussion adds layers of rhythm to the sound. EBT is truly a performance you must see to believe.

Nufunk.ca proudly presents the Original Wailers Showcase, Saturday April 12th at the Guelph Concert Theatre. This springtime reggae tradition celebrates the music of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer -- The Original Wailers who defined reggae music as a genre and brought it to audiences all over the world. Headlined by Toronto reggae warriors House of David Gang.
The Story Of The Original Wailers
The three original Wailers -- Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Neville “Bunny Wailer†Livingston -- came together as a band in 1963. They were also known The Teenagers, The Wailing Rudeboys, and The Wailing Wailers before settling on the name synonymous with Jamaican roots reggae music: The Wailers. Other early members of the band included Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, Cherry Smith and Aston and Carlton Barrett.
Some of The Wailers’ most notable songs were recorded with Lee "Scratch" Perry and his studio band The Upsetters. During the early 1970s, the Barrett brothers formed the Wailers Band, providing instrumental backing for The Wailers. The Wailers recorded groundbreaking reggae songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up". They disbanded in 1974, and each of the three main members then had a solo career. Bob Marley achieved international fame with Bob Marley & The Wailers (with the Wailers Band as backing band and the I Threes as backing vocalists) until his death in 1981. Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer both enjoyed considerable solo success as reggae music continued to gain popularity during the 1970s and 1980s. They were supported by their respective backing bands Word, Sound and Power and The Solomonic Orchestra.
Bob Marley died at age 36 of cancer in 1981, and remains the most beloved reggae icon of all time. Peter Tosh was murdered in 1987, his story immortalized in the Canadian-produced documentary "Stepping Razor Red X"; Carlton Barrett was killed that same year and Junior Braithwaite was also murdered in 1999. Cherry Smith passed away in 2008 at age 65. Bunny Wailer and Beverley Kelso are the only two surviving original members; Aston Barrett still tours with The Wailers Band.
About The House of David Gang:
www.houseofdavidgang.com
www.facebook.com/houseofdavidgang
House of David Gang is an uplifting Canadian reggae band that draws on the roots sounds of 1970s Kingston, Jamaica. They carry on the long history of top notch Toronto reggae, taking their name from an after-hours hang out on Queen Street West, which was popular with Toronto’s Rastafarian and reggae community. Since the release of their album Reggae Warrior on NuFunk Records – produced by Snappy Homefry with the support of The Ontario Arts Council and FACTOR – House of David Gang have become Canada's hardest touring reggae band. In the past five years, the group has played over 200 dates across Canada, including headlining sold-out tributes to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Jamaican 50th Anniversary events. They have shared the stage with top artists such as Xavier Rudd, The Mighty Diamonds, Big Youth, Bushman, Mad Professor, Dawn Penn, Leroy Sibbles, and Ill Scarlett. The band has performed at some of Canada’s top music festivals including Guelph’s Hilllside Festival, Fredericton’s Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, The Calgary International ReggaeFest, B.C.’s Shambhala Festival, and Nova Scotia’s Evolve Festival. A career highlight for the band was a performance for over 30,000 people at The Freedom Festival at Queen's Park in Toronto.

theNEWDEAL is back
Two years after the end of a successful fourteen-year run of over 1000 live shows, theNEWDEAL is announcing today a return to American festival stages in the summer of 2014.
“It feels like the right time for us to be playing together againâ€, says bassist Dan Kurtz. “theNEWDEAL needed some time to find some new musical inspiration and get some perspective on what is important about what, and how, we play togetherâ€.
“We just needed a break to go do other thingsâ€, adds keyboardist Jamie Shields. “When the thing you love begins to feel only like work, it’s time to step awayâ€.
Darren Shearer, theNEWDEAL’s original drummer, has decided not to continue in this next phase of the band’s career. In his place, Dan and Jamie are excited to welcome Toronto-based drummer Joel Stouffer. Joel is one of only two drummers who has ever managed to fill Darren’s shoes in the past, having played brilliantly with the band when Darren broke his hand in 2011. Joel has spent the last seven years touring the world with Dan in Electropop band Dragonette.
theNEWDEAL first began in Toronto in 1999, and came up through the American Jam scene in the decade that followed. Since the theNEWDEAL's beginning, it has been hard to categorize this band, which shows in the wide range of artists that they have played with (Everyone from Herbie Hancock to the Roots, from Moby to Fatboy Slim). A long-time staple of the Jam scene, theNEWDEAL’s improvisational interpretation of Electro House, Trance, Breakbeat and Drum & Bass has brought traditionally electronic music to the live music scene, adding a “human element†and vibrance that can sometimes get lost in the sea of computerized perfection.
