  1. Hey all! Posted this one originally a couple of months back, but we're still looking! [Roll Eyes]

The band Toronto band Uncle Seth (www.musicface.com/uncleseth) is looking for a new bass player. The band plays mostly original music in a sorta Blues Traveler/Widespread/Big Sugar/DMB mold with a female vocalist. They have just released their first CD, and have regular gigs at Reilly's and elsewhere.

They're looking for someone who can commit to at least one rehearsal a week, the Toronto gigs and in the near future, various gigs around southern Ontario.

The long range goal is, of course, world domination. [Wink]

Check out the tunes online at www.musicface.com/uncleseth/media/songs.html and if you're interested, give a shout to guitarist Jeff Jones at 416-283-6944 (best) or via email at uncleseth@musicface.com" target="_blank.

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  2. Hey, this site is kinda neat:

    http://www.band-mates.com

It's a review site, here's how it works:

    • You set up your account so you can do reviews
    • If you're representing a band, you can set up a page for them. If not, you can do your reviews "on behalf" of another band. I've been doing them on behalf of Uncle Seth which seems to be working 'cus as of tonight they're rated #37 on the site. If you want to help us out by doing some reviews on their behalf, I know the band would appreciate it! [smile]
    • For each review you do "on behalf" of a band, you get a random song to review, and their song gets put into rotation to get reviewed by someone else.

Get it? So far I've discovered some good, bad and ugly music. My fave new discovery so far is Laine, a groovy singer/percussionist from Austin.

    A fun distraction!

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  3. The crazy thing I was thinking was, how much do you think Big Bird weighs? 'Cus, conservatively let's say he's 200 pounds without the feathers and whatnot - at 3 minutes per pound, you're cooking that poor bastard for more than 10 hours just to make sure you don't kill off the rest of the gang.

Oh yeh, and Happy Thanksgiving from me too! [Wink]

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

    YOUR FAVOURITE BAND SUCKS!
    [Eek!]

Hah, I got told by most of the folks on my soccer team the other day that DMB and Big Sugar both suck! [Frown]

Then again, they'd just spent the last 1/2 hour talking about what a great band Cold Play was, so I couldn't take them that seriously. [Eek!]

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

P.S. I think the .ca awards could be fun.

  5. Brad, I'm SO happy to hear you dig the stuff from Rift - I was begining to think I was the only one! Personally I'm big on "Maze" and "Weigh".

I'd like to gather all your friends and squish them all into a small swimming pool so I can weigh them, what do ya say? Come on, that's gold! [big Grin]

musicface is a shower head that's biodegradable! It craves attention.

I also thought this one was cute:

    buzzkill

buzzkill is an electric drill that takes high-quality digital photos! It exists in five dimensions and plays the American national anthem.

  7. Hey yo, did anyone else get to the show? I was there, a GREAT time! Random Piece were pretty good, and they got better once the fronts actually got turned on. [Roll Eyes] A little too wannabe-Radiohead-Oasis-ish for my liking, but not bad.

Chris Brown was okay, although I definitely prefer him when he's playing keys over guitar, and I DEFINITELY prefer him with Kate. It was hard sell with his very quiet guitar style and a trash band playing downstairs, but he pulled it off pretty well. Although did anyone understand any of what he said between songs - whatever he's smokin' these days, I want some!

The the Bros. rocked! I didn't know if it would be slightly mellower 'cus the Sleepyhead album had alot of quiet songs on it, but even the songs from that had a punch. For three guys playing acoustic instruments, they make a terrific noise! And when Jim and Andy sing together it's magic - you can tell they've been doing it practically since they were born.

Anyway, if you missed the Brothers Creeggans, catch 'em in the future 'cus they put on an amazing show.

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

That's really cool. Great tip too!.

Thanks bouche - yeh it's a good site, I'd definitely recommend it for fans as well. Sorta like a Canadian MP3.com with less advertising and BS. [Wink]

That's for tonight? I'll try and remember to get that on. Is there a live stream? I have CBC on Expressvu I think as well.

Tomorrow actually. And CBC has TONNES of streaming options, check out http://www.cbc.ca/audio.html - and remember it's Radio Two at the bottom of the page, not one of the local Radio One broadcasts.

    Peace,

    Mr. M.
