As far as Trey being cocky??? I had the opportunity to party with him and all of those guys at CK5's birthday party in '99. Trey was anything but cocky...more like very drunk and very humble and nice---just one of the guys.

Yeh, I'm sure it's true - I suspect a lot of the stuff in the film was mugging for the camera. Damn funny thou!

  2. Oh, and the thing they do with the phans who want to get them to pose in a photo with them, and they aim the camera so the heads are cut off?!? What bastards!

Can you imagine following Phish all the way from Buttsville USA to Italy or where ever, you see them on the beach and you think "now's my chance to get a picture with them" and then you develop the film and the heads are cut off?!? What a riot!

  3. I really like singing along with old King Crimson 'cus I have the same vocal range as Greg Lake, and I really like singing along with new King Crimson 'cus Adrian Belew is just friggin' brilliant!

    Talk, it's only talk

    babble, burble, banter

    bicker bicker bicker

    brouhaha, balderdash, ballyhoo

    it's only talk

Come ON, how much fun is that to sing? [smile]

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  4. Personally, I actually enjoyed it more on DVD than when I saw it at the Bloor. I find music movies are always cooler on DVD 'cus you can jump to the parts you like. Don't know how many times I've watched that ver of "Punch You In The Eye".

One thing that kills me every time I put on that film is what a funny, cocky prick Trey can be! If he had his own show, it would kick the crap out of Tom Greene. [Wink]

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  5. P.S. I'm not sure if they are even still around but DO NOT deal with a mail order company called TFE Industries and/or Just Imagine Computers (they go by different names depending on which ad you respond to.)

As Comic Book Guy would say: "Worse company EVER!"

  6. Hey Puddles I'm not sure where you're at in relation to Toronto, but for your money I'd recommend going with used. These guys would be my pick:

    http://www.pcused.com/

My wife got a used laptop there around Xmas - we had some weird driver problems when we got it home so I took it back down, they were very cool about it and fixed us up in about 10 minutes.

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  7. Hey Velvet, great thread!

I'll have to put two: 1) anything by the Sisters Euclid, a Toronto band featuring star guitarist Kevin Breit, and they play every Monday night at the Orbit Room...

Absolutely! And Breit featured heavily on two of my picks, Big Boy and Up and At 'Em by amazing TO harmonica player Carlos del Junco. Carlos takes the Howard Levy thing and extends it into blues and latin music - extremely cool!

Yeh, what these guys do is very different from BNL. They're actually doing the Peace by Peace benefit at the Reverb in Toronto on September 26th - check out their site at www.brotherscreeggan.com.

  8. Hey, how about a band covering itself? Did anyone ever hear the version of 25 or 6 to 4 that Chicago re-recorded in the 80s? YUCK!

The Police redoing Don't Stand So Close To Me in '86 was also pretty unnecessary. What was it about the mid-80s, too much coke?

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

  9. Hey all!

The band Toronto band Uncle Seth (www.musicface.com/uncleseth) is looking for a new bass player. The band plays mostly original music in a sorta Blues Traveler/Widespread/Big Sugar/DMB mold with a female vocalist. They have just released their first CD, and have regular gigs at Reilly's and elsewhere.

They're looking for someone who can commit to at least one rehearsal a week, the Toronto gigs and in the near future, various gigs around southern Ontario.

The long range goal is, of course, world domination. [Wink]

Check out the tunes online at www.musicface.com/uncleseth/media/songs.html and if you're interested, give a shout to guitarist Jeff Jones at 416-283-6944 (best) or via email at uncleseth@musicface.com" target="_blank.

    Peace,

    Mr. M.

Yeh, good points in there - that's the main reason I put that it was arguably the first! [Wink]

I guess it's always hard to say what's really the FIRST when you're talking about something like rock'n'roll which encompasses so many styles. But that was definitely an important moment nonetheless.
