  1. Dave - haven't seen you for a long while but I'm Trevor and Brian's buddy, and we did Oswego together! Nice to have you aboard the crazy train!

Here we are spending some quality time together:

A question for you west-coasters: What ever happened to People Playing Music? They were a great band - are they still around, or have they broken up?

    Brian.

Oh, Brian, the stoooopid nights we had with People Playing Music when they hung out in Ontario for a spell!! Good band, I still listen to one of their CDs from time to time.

    Hopefully, they'll head East!

  3. I'm well, thank you, although suffering from a little bit of a chest cold.

Tonight Laurie and I are attending a housewarming party for Dave Hill, bassist of the Fat Cats. At some point beforehand, I will crank up Phish 11/22/97 Hampton, in honour of the five year anniversary of a splendid show from an amazing tour.

Tomorrow night, it's the Acousticats at the Winch in Dundas. Sunday, it's my "shows" night (Simpsons, Malcolm In The Middle, A Chef's Tour)!

  4. It has changed for the worse. I hate getting nasty looks from the bar staff just because my eyeballs are a little - oh, puffy, red and glazed. Used to be you'd get an understanding smile.

I guess from the Fatties perspective, they'll give it another go. They have been playing at La Luna-associated venues for upwards of 5 or 6 years now. As much as I love Pepper Jacks and trust Ken's efforts to get good music coming through, only time will tell if it will survive like La Luna's has. In many ways, it is still an unknown quantity.

Shane - maybe I'll see you in Dundas on Saturday night?

  5. just booked a room here:

    Newport Riverfront Travelodge

222 York St., Newport, KY 41071

0.5mile away from US Bank Arena, good rates

In case any of you wanted to get in on the same location, there are rooms left. Let's party in Cincy!!

If we don't get tickets, we just cancel!

Just go to the travelodge page and type in Newport, KY.

  6. Weird, I know. Appparently, he's been playing more keyboards than ever before on this last tour. Tim just went to Elmira, NY to see him and said it was real good.

Speaking of which, how's this for music-obsession? I have a friend who is a concert FREAK, and obsessed with all things music. His modus operandi as of late is, when he's going to see an artist, he'll listen to their entire catalogue in chronological order before going to the show. For CSNY, this meant listening to all permutations of that combo!!! Dylan, Neil, Yes, whatever, he'll take time out to listen to EVERY SINGLE RECORDING (that are available, obviously) before going to the show. If he sees that artist again three months later, out comes the catalogue again.

    He's *really* into it!

(Brian, can you guess who? And how come every photo I see of you in S. Korea you're in a bar drinking with gorgeous girls?!? [Roll Eyes] having a good time, are we? you dawwwg....)

I'd love that too but the trick is getting the band to agree to it and stick to it.

So, will Sundays replace Tuesdays at the Casbah or are they both happening?

(reminder, Acousticats at the Winch in Dundas Saturday night, who's there?)

  8. Ah, Trevor.... so sweet and innocent.... I'll never forget the day your Mother and I brought you home from the hospital... you laid there like a little hairy baby, gurgling and barfing for days. I cradled you in my arms and blew smoke up your nostrils and you giggled your little baby giggles. I never thought you would be walking before you left your Mother's tit but then I never thought you'd steal all the booze out of my liquor cabinet and sell shots on the schoolyard either. You're a good boy, Trevor, and your Mother and I are very proud of you. Now, go get Daddies rollies and stop spending so much time in the bathroom!

Happy Birthday Trevor!!!!!!! [big Grin][big Grin]

  9. It is amazing. Why do people feel that their favorite bands owe them anything? For over two years now it's been:

    - the new songs suck, they're repetitive, why doesn't Trey write like he used to?

    - Phish sucks because they're going on hiatus

    - the hiatus sucks

    - Trey Band sucks

    - Vida Blue especially sucks

    - NYE at MSG sucks. Nobody can get tickets. I want a pay-per view.

    - The Winter tour sucks. I have to travel to see them. They're only doing one nighters for the most part. Why don't they come to the North West? Why don't they come South? I'm going to Europe for Spring break, why didn't they go there?!?

    - the new CD is going to suck, they only spent 4 days recording it (seriously, I've seen this)

    - the TV appearances suck, they're spoiling the effect of NYE at MSG.

    - everything sucks.

As for me, I've never been happier to be a Phish fan!!! A clean slate, a fresh perspective, how can you lose???
