  1. I gotta say, I keep hearing a few tunes from this album and they sound damn good. I'm a real casual fan of theirs and not really in the habit of keeping up with them but this shit sounds promising. Anyone heard the latest album ("Are Me")?

Rae" "Oh, Michael..... I'm afraid I'm a living joke." Ignatieff: "What's a joke?"
  3. Happy Birthday - hope you have a great one!
  4. Laurie and I had lunch at La Luna today. Lebanese goodness. Fattoush rocks. What word rhymes with "fattoush"?
  5. Right now I'm listening to some old-school shit yo: Hi Willy.
  6. Oh dude I don't think we're in much disagreement regardless but I do appreciate your consideration. I'm willing to grant mainstream publications like Blender some hyperbolic licence. Everyone knows the list of shitty artists they've heard in their lives far exceeds the arbitrary # of fifty anyway! peace and love!
  7. I love it. He'll fuck around, sure, but he could drop another album of heartbreaking songs any time he wants.
  8. Credentials mean something to me in this context. This isn't some pimply-faced kid's blog. These cats know about popular music, it's their bread and butter. It's a mainstream magazine, not an underground thing. Sure, The Disco Biscuits fit the bill but a list of terrible bands no-one knows about isn't exactly going to sell copy.
  9. Good morning, Worm, your honor The Crown will plainly show The prisoner who now stands before you Was caught red-handed showing feelings Showing feelings of an almost human nature This will not do Call the schoolmaster I always said he'd come to no good In the end, your Honor If they'd let me have my way I could have flayed him into shape But my hands were tied The bleeding hearts and artists Let him get away with murder Let me hammer him today Crazy Toys in the attic, I am crazy Truly gone fishing They must have taken my marbles away Crazy Toys in the attic, he is crazy Call the defendant's wife You little shit, you're in it now I hope they throw away the key You should've talked to me more often than you did But no! You had to go your own way Have you broken any homes up lately? Just five minutes, Worm, your Honor Him and me alone Baaaaaabe Come to Mother, baby Let me hold you in my arms M'Lord, I never meant for him to get in any trouble Why'd he ever have to leave me? Worm, your Honor, let me take him home Crazy Over the rainbow, I am crazy Bars in the window There must have been a door there in the wall When I came in Crazy Over the rainbow, he is crazy The evidence before the court is incontravertible There's no need for the jury to retire In all the years of judging I have never heard before Of someone more deserving of the full penalty of the law The way you made 'em suffer Your exquisite wife and mother Fills me with the urge to deficate Since, my friend You have revealed your deepest fear I sentence you to be exposed before your peers Tear down the wall "Tear down the wall, Tear down the wall, ..."
  10. I recognize the majority of the journalists who wrote this collaborative piece from their many years of writing for Mojo, Q, Melody Maker, Rolling Stone and the late great Musician magazine. Some of their careers go back to the mid 1970's. It's cool if you don't like the article but their credentials are pretty solid. John Aizlewood I recall in particular wrote some amazingly lucid and rather hilarious articles for Q in it's glory days.
  11. I think "Love Is Hell" is excellent. Try it again. It's Ryan getting in touch with his inner Morrisey.
  12. What's happening on his site right now is not representative of his best music.
  13. His website is the shit. A truly manic experience! "I Got Drunk With Burger King" is a particular favorite of mine. Poor Ryan's getting distracted.
  14. there are nine authors of this article. Several of them have been music writers for decades now for magazines such as Q, Mojo and the late great Musician magazine.
  15. I was truly pleased to see they made the list.
  16. #51 - Annie Lennox imo. She could squeeze cheese out of a rock.
  17. I gotta say I have no problem with any of these artists making the list. Some amusing editorializing too.
  18. Just watched the trailer. This could be interesting, or it could be a collection of musicians who actually do quite well for themselves lamenting that things aren't the same as they used to be, to what end I don't know. Even the title of the film is a bit sensationalistic. Music isn't dying, I see fresh new artists doing their thing everywhere and garnering some support for it too. Branford Marsalis can go on and on about how the labels wouldn't sign Stevie Wonder if he was a new artist today. But he's stuck in the past with that logic. In the internet age, with all the DIY resources available to the common person, getting that record deal can be more of a hindrance than a blessing these days. So the new Stevie has to work with new models. And disposable pop music has always been designed for teenagers since the 1950's. The fact that a girl on the street doesn't know or care much about Bob Dylan tells me more that nothing has changed, not that we're on the cusp of The Death Of Music. By the way, Dylan's last album debuted at #1 on Billboard. Me thinks perhaps they dost protest too much.
  19. I agree. I'd rather listen to Insane Clown Posse than that shite. They shoulda been #1.
  20. Well I'm glad I caught a SYB show while I still could. That was a lot of fun and I regret not having seen you guys earlier. Some great songs in there and I appreciated the attention to detail in terms of presentation. TheGoodRev is basically my new hero. He's way cool and is super talented. What a revelation! Best of luck in all that you do Aaron!
