  1. lol ... Thanks for the detailed insight!

Seriously though, from the Great Hall website I have a hard time seeing that there are two separate concert venues.

On another note, my tickets to this show arrived today ... that was quick!

  2. What an AWESOME night. They sounded sooo great. I had a blast getting to hear some real old gems, many of which had probably not been played in 15 years or so. It was great to see so many of the old guard come out of the woodwork and see the "newer" Fatties fans getting exposed to some of the old stuff as well. Bernie was top notch and you could really see how much it inspired the boys.

Nice to read! Is anything else in the works for the future?

  3. There's no doubt that Hillside is an excellent festival on many levels. Having said that, there are lots of other fabulous summer options for music and I don't find myself being lured to Hillside like I am to other concert and festival events. My last few times at Hillside, it felt crowded and I felt like I'd "been there, done that." Having said that, I will likely go again at some point in the future. But not this summer, as Gathering of the Vibes is pulling me East ...

    Peace, Mark

  4. Wow, I've seen this sort of thing happen before, but never to this extreme. And in those situations, it's happened when the concert was likely to sell out on day one.

It begs the question: Who bought all of the tickets? Phish fans? Ticket resellers? Scalpers? Are they being held back to try and get people to "panic" and buy up the cheap seats, with blocks of good seats to be released at a later date? Is this something that is being conducted by Ticketmaster and/or Live Nation and/or the Molson Ampitheatre, or is it something happening because of outside forces? It is interesting to follow this from a business perspective, and frustrating from a fan perspective.

I remember when the Phish show at Darien Lake sold out in 2009. I know a few friends who bought tickets from Stubhub for a premium. Come show time, there were all kinds of extras in the lot.

I personally would not buy a greatly marked up ticket to this show. Not because I'm against it morally, but simply because I still hope to be able to buy a good ticket to this show on the day of this show for face value. And on July 9, I will almost certainly be able to buy a ticket in the 400's or on the lawn for face value (or even less).

And keeping the positive train of thought, if there really are this many people wanting to go to a Phish show in Toronto, maybe next year they'll come for a 3 day long weekend run!

But it's still damn frustrating to this fan who simply wants to buy good tickets at a fair price!

    Peace, Mark

  5. This show will be a really easy ticket I think. Lawns will be close to worthless at showtime.

I'm gonna guess attendance will be 11-12k tops.

    Agreed :)

More agreement here re: the availability of tickets at show time. I'm going to try for tickets tomorrow, but if I can't get good tickets (200's or pit) I am going to wait until closer to show time or the day of the show.

  6. After some gentle arm-twisting it looks like I'll be heading to the Vibes!

The troops be rallying...and yes Phil's guests are sweet. Probably helped seal the deal for me amongst other things

I'm guessing one of those other things is Jackie Greene with the Crowes.

    Peace, Mark
