  1. It would've gone a lot better in past federal elections if people could actually vote directly for a party's leader. I liked Stephane Dion and voted for Andrew Lang, but my vote was wasted since I lived in Jack Layton's riding (I was pissed at him at the time). We had a chance to change the voting laws during the 2008 election (I believe it was this fed election), but people seemed not to see or understand what the box meant on the ballot.

"The MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tourâ€.

    Oy vey!

    Cool!

  3. Hmmm...another Bluesfest appearance perhaps?

I can see it now - the blues purists are gonna run to the hills!

I'm more or less a purist, but I'd run from the hills to the front row. These guys are more musically interesting now than their early days. I wouldn't expect a trip down memory lane either. From what I gather, their last tour focussed on newer material and intricate jams.

  4. I hated the end result of last night's game, but it was exciting to say the least. I'm loving the Lin saga too. Calderon was a little soft during the last :10 of the game, probably because Lin isn't a good outside shooter. Sinking the shot only added to his mini-legend.

  5. BrickworKs itself is awesome. I've gone to the farmer's market several times and it is the best in the city, plus there's far more things to do there too than eating and shopping for food. There's a free shuttle at Broadview station, which comes in handy since there's a restaurant there that serves a hearty selection of craft beers.

  6. Too bad John Frusciante left the band before the recording of their latest album. He's a fucking brilliant guitarist.

How much did he really add to Stadium Arcadium though? I feel like the RHCP are at the point in their career where they just release the same-ish album every 3 or 4 years as an excuse to go on tour. They haven't really recorded anything all that relevant since Blood Sugar Sex Magik' date=' which I always found overrated in the first place.

I guess what I'm saying is that for a band of supposed great musicians they don't show it that much. I would love for them to get jammier and creative with the setlists.

I think he was hampered by Anthony's gentrified song structure. When he was given any chance to shine, he usually delivered. John has perfect taste even when the songs aren't up to snuff. I'd like RHCP to be a hard funk trio sans Anthony.

  7. Agreed Dave. The cast is good though and the storylines keep you hooked. The series starts out creepy, but the scares gradually wear off (although this doesn't ruin the overall tone of the show). Jessica Lange certainly deserved a GG.

  8. The Jays do need another quality starter, and Darvish is the best "free agent" pitcher available. He has stunning stuff and a proven international track-record. I'd like to see AA add another power-bat. Exciting news, potentially.

  9. Sad news. I loved how Morgan smoothly took over for MacLean Stevenson on Mash' date=' which was no easy task.

I'm a big fan of westerns and Morgan was in two of the best, The Ox-Bow Incident and High Noon. I urge you to see both, but particularly the former. It remains a disturbing psychological masterpiece.

Wow, I didn't know he was in the Ox Bow Incident, I agree that is an awesome movie.

Yeah, he's in the first scenes with Fonda and you see him at the end of the film. The movie still haunts me.
