  1. If they are going to go out, giving all of Canada one last tour was the way to do it.
  2. I love The Stripes live and their albums better than anything by The Raconteurs. The Stripes are in my Top 10 fav bands ever. However, I'm really excited to see how The Raconteurs grow and branch out past their power-pop, bluesy Brit Rock influences of their first album.
  3. Ah, but The Raconteurs are only one album in and Jack has said that their new stuff is heavy. Plus, their ACC show was on fire.

    BEER!!

I must say if I had to rank my favourite beers, my Top 3 are: 1. Mill Street Tankhouse 2. Kronenbourg 1664 (France) 3. White Tail (Kingston Brew Pub)
  5. From where I'm sitting, I'll take that as a compliment.
  6. Is there a word on the Sanctuary misspelled more than "weird"?
  7. He had no feeling in his extremities after the fall, but he does today. I'll never forget the sombre look on Sam's face during the final 90 seconds of last night's game.
  8. I heard it on MuchMusic via a recent L.A. Times interview with Jack. It boils down to Meg's acute anxiety which rears its ugly head on stage. This is sad news. I've seen them three times and consider their shows to be some of my most memorable concert experiences. At least they'll still be making excellent albums. There's always The Raconteurs. For all you fools that think Jack will tour with a "real" drummer, think again. It wouldn't be the same.
  9. And the new Wii Mario Party isn't getting good reviews, so if you have Gamecube versions (the best is #4 or #6 IMO), play them on the Wii.
  10. Yes, both 51 and Polaris are nothing alike. My beef with 51 Phantom was that it is predictable and boring. Polaris is too syrupy for my tastes, and I blame Jim Dickenson's influence.
  11. And I used to think my old roommate Stu's two tallboys before 9am, two at lunch and six after work was a lot. Although you can triple that amount for Friday and Saturday.
  12. I actually think they are a good studio band with albums that have excellent production values. I have a problem with their direction. That being said, the show will no doubt be good because they are a good live band.
  13. I know their stuff fairly well. I gotta know what I criticize. They can still bring it when they stay within their strengths. They're still a youngish band, so there's hope that they'll regress. Both 51 Phantom and Polaris are virtually unlistenable, but there work on Hill Country Review was excellent, however Electric Blue Watermelon was disappointing, even though it was blues.
  14. I've seen them four times, but their studio albums have gotten incrementally worse. It has everything to do with Luther's inability to write good songs and their evolving Big Star/rock influences, plus he doesn't have a rock voice. When they were the raw blues band of their first album, I was really excited. But they've lost most of their blues relevance. It's frustrating for us original fans.
  15. Once they start with the Luther-penned tunes, the Allstars should be renamed The House-Leaguers.
  16. I've talked with you in the past about Hendrix. That conversation was fortunately a long time ago.
  17. I'll never see them again.
  18. Here's David "The only credible music writer left at Rolling Stone" Fricke's review of last night's show: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/17601364/led_zeppelin_the_full_report_from_david_fricke
  19. Van Halen was the Tool of their time, meaning, the only metal band that mattered. Disco still ruled the charts and Sabbath went the Dio route. Van Halen's first album kicked metal back into the mainstream consciousness. And then came Ozzy...
  20. And for the longest time you didn't like Hendrix and I believe you think Townshend is a hack. Do you own any Zeppelin?
  21. Page's imagination and ingenuity on guitar is humbling to say the least. I know he "borrowed" a lot of licks and riffs from blues greats and even Hendrix (No Quarter's main riff was lifted off of the bridge of Machine Gun), but he used them to create some of the greatest rock albums ever, not to mention his guitar playing was killer and influential. Although he's not much of a slide player. No one's perfect, except for Django and Lenny Breau.
  22. Back in the 80's, I considered Quiet Riot a novelty metal band in the same league as Twisted Sister. I agree with Freak that the real metal bands were Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Sabbath and even early Scorpions.
