  1. Adam Jones needs some props too. He's the only metal guitarist that mattered in the 90's. Oh yeah AD, screw that analogy of yours. One gig cannot erase an entire career just because it bugged you on one night... or even tour. Hey, I'm AD and I hate Joey because he bugged me last night. He sucks. C'mon Adam!
  2. i'll second that vote on the pixies guitar players!! Damn, I meant to say Nick Drake's guitar playing fascinates me. I guess his normal lead player was Richard Thompson, so he fasciates me as well.
  3. I've changed my look, so keep your eyes peeled. I've got a full beard now.
  4. Actually, I bet the ball is really good. The Leafs have three legit ex Big Leaguers on their team that are still not past their prime. Hunt around that Can-Am website to see if any of the league's players have made the Bigs yet. I gotta run. I'm off to Cuff The Duke.
  5. Hey Marge, I'm meeting folks at 6:15-6:30 at Southside Louie's. I'm planning on heading over at around 7:00.
  6. Nick Drake's guitar player fascinates me as well. So does The Pixies Frank Black and Joey Santiago.
  7. That would be hard because of the cost of travel, plus the athletes are part-timers and still hold "real jobs". Yes, the western independant leagues seem to be thriving, but there's more of a passion towards those teams, like in Winnipeg. I think people would support an independant team if they knew there was a chance in hell one of their players would get a shot at the Bigs.
  8. I can tell you that the Intercounty League doesn't excite me at all, and the league is similar in quality to the Can-Am League. Rob and Rich Butler plus ace Paul Spoljaric play on the Leaf team and I haven't yet gotten jacked enough to go and see them at Christie Pitts, and the games are free. I want to see a game/league with Major League affiliations, whether it's A, AA, or AAA.
  9. Do you think any of those albums should bump-out the one's that are already listed... with all due respect? I love Albert King's Live Wire or The Quintet Jazz at Massey Hall or even Live Evil, but I don't think RS looks to jazz and blues too much, let alone 70's metal or art rock. Although the idea of Focus making the list makes me shudder.
  10. It's not hard for RS to make a decent Best Of list because each list draws from a time period when the magazine was actually respected and historically relevant. They jumped the shark in the 80's, which is understandable since that's when I jumped the shark. That disgustiung decade did a lot of us in, at least music-wise.
  11. And since I was more sober, I vividly remember you loving the soup just before your face planted into the bowl.
  12. Exit...Stage Left is far more significant historically, and it still didn't make the list. All The World's A Stage is better too. Old bands that make new live albums will rarely make a Best Of list.
  13. I have a hard time with a Top 10, so here's my All-Time followed by some other players that I've admired. 1. Pete Townshend 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. Duane Allman 4. Jeff Beck 5. Lenny Breau 6. Dickey Betts 7. Jerry Garcia 8. Tom Verlaine/Richard Lloyd from Televison 9. Frank Zappa 10. Jimmy Page I gotta add this big Honourable Mention list: Neil Young Roy Buchanan Robert Johnson Buddy Guy Warren Haynes Stevie Ray Vaughan Derek Trucks John Lennon Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore Danny Gatton Joe Strummer Eddie Hazel Jack White Trey Anastasio Bobby Stinson of The Replacements Jeff Tweedy Jim James Mattias Bärjed and Ian Person from The Soundtrack Of Our Lives B.B. King Junior Kimbrough R.L. Burnside Eddie Van Halen Dave Lauzon
  14. Add a splash of hot sause into the soup. I believe the beer is cheap there too. It comes in cans. By no means is the atmosphere good at Ginger - although the original restaurant at Yonge and Bloor, beside The Brass Rail, is always colourful. Ginger is like a cafeteria, but that's what keeps it cheap. There's also one at Church & Wellesley and a new one at Carleton & Parliament (Cabbagetown). All are close to Brad's hotel, but the one at Gerrard is less than a 10 minute walk.
  15. I've never had the iced Vietnamese coffee, but back to the soup. If you get the small of chicken noodle soup (you can get hot and sour chicken noodle soup, but it's not as good in my opinion), it's more than a meal, I'd add one or two spring rolls to go with it. The rolls are a buck a piece. The large bowl would almost fill-up Badhams or a really peckish Davey Boy.
  16. According to Wikipedia, the Can-Am League is considered to be at the same level as A Ball, just like The Intercounty League which fields teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs (the only good Leafs) play. Both are independant leagues with no major league affiliations, unfortunately. AA is damn fine baseball and in some ways, more important than AAA. It would've been cool if Ottawa landed a AA team.
  17. I'm assuming this league is on par with as A-Ball. Not bad, but a big drop. Too bad Ottawa didn't get an official A League affiliate.
  18. Brad, take my advice on what to order at Ginger. The chicken noodle soup is a meal in itself, but flesh it out with a couple of chicken spring rolls. Also, the beef/chicken/shrimp/grilled pork-chops on rice dishes kick ass - there's one that includes the first three meats grilled on rice, and I believe it's still around $6. Also, the place is more like a cafeteria-style, so tips are not manditory (there are no waiters or waitresses).
  19. Also, there are lots of great places to eat just one major block north of College, at Yonge & Wellesley, but you may want to take phish's advice since gay is your thing.
  20. I hope this new Black Crowes collaborative effort won't make Luther think he's a good songwriter and thus, abandon doing covers, the only thing The Allstars are good at.
  21. Have a great rest of your day/night!
  22. Crank up TSOOL"s "Mantra Slider" at least once before you pass out. Happy Birthday!
