  1. do you know anything about the wafles site/ I haven't heard anything about it really, better than ST?

a buddy of mine has both a waffles and a STMusic account and he says there is a greater selection of music on waffles (though I suppose what he really means is that there is a great selection of music he's interested in on waffles).

other than that very little bit of info I really don't know if one is really superior to the other.. just that waffles got most of the hype after oink closed so it became the community everyone really wanted to join.

  2. its definately not oink yet. I could find 95% of what I was looking for on oink, so far, ST is about 55% I guess it'll grow with more members I suppose. The download speeds are wicked awesome though.

I found oink to be super easy to boost my ratio in the beginning then near the end it was hard as hell to keep it up, ST seems to be a bit more difficult in the beginning stages to build a solid ratio.

I'd agree.. and as much as I want a waffles account stmusic is certainly better than nothing.. and I'm sure it's largely just a matter of time for the users and database to build though.

  3. s is weird because it's, i think, "Battle Without Honor Or Humaity - Tomoyasu Hotei" from the kill bill soundtrack. there is another track on that cd called super 16 which would fit but im pretty sure that clip is battle without....

    track 9 here:

S is definitely that Tomoyasu Hotei track, but I guess they are using the other name for it: "(Theme for) Shin Jingi Naki Tatakai"

K is Kosha Nostra Theme by John Murphy (you can hear it on the Snatch soundtrack, it plays behind scenes with Boris 'The Blade' Yurinov)

you can hear it at the end of this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1xPiBB3-DM

and M is Mundian To Bach Ke by Punjabi MC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMR2MGuiq9s

  4. thanks for the plug Brad :)

I was always a big fan of Drew Nelson.. wicked slide guitar player back in the day.. rumour had it he hit the nose candy pretty hard and dropped out of the scene for a while.

All I know is he never go the kudos that Tony got and he doesn't play much anymore.

Other guys I'd check out would be "Dr. Dave" Foster, Rick Fines and/or Suzie Vinnick (though they don't play in town much anymore.. they tour all over now) and Scotty Doubt.

And though they aren't really blues, but rather Zydeco music, the Mumbo Jumbo Voodoo Combo are amazing!

  5. I'm ok with these bands not getting back together.. there is something to be said about artists moving on for whatever reasons and sometimes getting back together is worse..

    with that being said..

I beg you please Eric B and Rakim.. get back together and save the world for the shitty hip hop that's plaguing our youth!

  7. It's about time they got up on the Archive.

If you like what you hear you can catch these guys for free every Thursday night at The Clocktower Brewhouse, Bank and Pretoria, Ottawa.

Starting in August though it will only be the first Thursday of every month (still free though).
