  1. I've got no interest in these gigs either.. and it blows me away that they are doing these as parking lot gigs inside heated tents.

One thing I have noticed though is that The Thirsty Toad is really trying to market itself to a larger touring band (as supposed to local bands). That's great if they can get the bodies out to support it. Ottawa needs more rooms to bring in bigger bands.

  2. www.doteasy.com is cheap and Canadian.

depending on what you want they've got a great basic package. If you own your domain name already you pay an initial fee (I think it's $40.00) to set up the DNS, but after that it's free.. and ad free as well!

You get 10 email addresses, 100mb of disk space, 1gb/month data transfer and full support.

It's not exciting feature wise but depending on what you need it may be perfect.

You can get the same deal but purchase your domain through doteasy.com and only pay the domain renewal each year.

  3. I wish sometimes I were independently wealthy so I could spend all sorts of time going from event to event like this to challenge these people - just so that they would have someone around who challenged them and forced them to account for what they say.

But I'd probably get branded an agent of the devil and kicked out (or kicked in).

Just starting to get in the mood for the upcoming holiday :)

  5. the first Justin Timberlake album was killer (rumour has it it was written for Michael Jackson but his ego got in the way and he went with some other producer/songwritter).. I wouldn't be surprised if his latest (JT that is) album is good too.

of course when I say good I mean good in that sugar candy pop kinda way ;)

  6. you know I'm really mixed about this...

James Brown is in my top 5 bands/artists of all time.. I could spend the rest of the day talking about the genius that is James Brown...

    BUT...

he lost it way back in the early 80s. You could even argue that he lost it back in the late 70s.. he was certainly over his prime at any rate.

I saw him when he came to bluesfest back in 200 I think it was. I just get sad seeing him now, knowing what he used to be and seeing how pathetic he is now.

That being said, he still has one hot bloody band, so that alone could be worth admission.

It's hard for me.. I don't know if I'll go to this gig... there are really times when I wish I could hop into a time machine and catch him back in circa 1971... that would have been amazing!!
