Hey Sharon, Happy Birthday eh.. I'm so glad I got to ring in your 30th on stage with you!!
-
Like bradm said.. on behalf of Inglewood Jack a big thanks to Tad Hackish, The Souljazz Orchestra, The Crowd (for the gear loan) and Dave "Wooly" Ouellette (better known as one of the many guitar players in The Music Never Stopped) for a great night.
An even bigger thanks to those who came out and supported us.
A gigantic apology to those who got screwed by the bar's inability to handle crowd control
And the biggest thanks of all to Dan Sidoli and Ms.Huxtable for coming up and lending their singing voices to the Inglewood Jack set!

oh.. you can also check out these great hallowe'en mashup albums
(The original Monster Mashup seems long gone from the net)
what is a mashup you may ask? the urban dictionary defines it as this:
Musical genre. Involves cutting and pasting samples and loops from two or more popular tracks to form a new track, often forming a suprisingly catchy new tune. Not as complex as remixed music. There are a number of bedroom djs who create moderate quality mashups.
The more different the genres of the source tunes, the more effective the mashup.

give me a couple of hours and I can hook you up with a lot.. I'll start zipping and upload now.

it seems to have a bunch of live concerts in nice high quality video for you to watch for free. I'm currently enjoying a great Steve Kimock show!

not bad.. that's $20.00 cheaper than Futureshop and $10.00 cheaper than the sale price at Best Buy
looks like a fun little point and shoot.. awesome!

www.cnet.com is a great site as well
and Galaxy Photo (which is the photo shop at Bank and Catherine, and is next door to my office) is a great shop, I'd add to the list of places to check out.. the guys in there really know their stuff.

I laughed pretty hard in The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror V when they decided to stop doing funny tombstones
the only one you saw that season said:
"Amusing Tombstones R.I.P."

I saw the Iron Maiden on Monday in T.O. and Bruce Dikinson made a point of saying that reality showslike Rockstar:Supernova do not create bands, they create brands and they are simply a long expensive commercial! He then proceed to tell the audience that they dersverve better and must demand it. TO that the entire ACC erupted in thuderous applause!
I could not agree more! I also fuckin' hate that the mouthpiece that won, is a Canadian dude! Uggh!
Everyone needs to calm down about winning these reality shows. it's just a sexed up Karkoe contest!
as much as I agree with Bruce's statement, that it creates brands more than bands, I have to say, the real trick to Rockstar was to not win, but stick around long enough to start playing some originals.
There's not way that it was a coincidence that all these guys who started to play originals all had records ready to release as soon as they were voted off.
You get on the show, get some hype going, play your lead single off your album to the large TV audience, get voted off (so you aren't stuck with the contract they'll make you sign when you win) and use the promotion from being on the show to get people to come out to your shows. Sounds like a half decent plan to me.
-
well.. I think they are just starting up with trying to pull bigger bands in.
From the email I got this morning they were sending around a list of gear they have, plus they listed what they offer the band (band room size, tour bus parking, stuff like that) and then went on to say that they are finishing building their permanent stage.
So.. though I don't think it's an exciting place yet, it may be a place to keep your eye on.
Sure this Rockstar:Supernova stuff is a good cash grab, but hopefully they use this to get some money and press and start bringing other bands in that aren't as gimicky if that's the right word.. know what I mean?
What movie did you watch on Halloween?

I watched Hostel, and yeah.. I was expecting more exploitation level violence and gore, so I was disappointed. Saw (the first film) is a much better torture movie in my opinion.
