  1. YUMMY YUMMY AND INEXPENSIVE.

I went here the other night...corner of Dalhousie and Murray.

Smallish menu, but awesome grub and the choices they give you are terrific. I had the Pear and Brie burger. Plus they got GOOD beers.

    Someone elses review:

I have been here a number of times already and it's, hands down, my favourite pub in the overpriced Byward Market. And that's why I like it. Good burgers are available for $7. They make a rocking Croque Monsieur for the same price. The menu is limited but what I have eaten is great. Plus, they always have an interesting special... Also, great microbrews on tap — St. Amboise Pale Ale is always a sign the place is worth frequenting — and a free jukebox, with plenty of jazz.

A friend of mine attended the past 2 years and really enjoyed it. It's organized by the "natural food pantry" health food stores. (they 4 locations in Ottawa). They'll have over 50 exhibitors ( i.e Organic produce and organic health and beauty products ) Lots of sample of various organic foods for you to try along with recipes (which is always nice before you actually buy :)

It's free admission... but bring $$$ or your credit cards because you can buy produce from the exhibitors at this show.

  4. I'm really sorry if I offended anyone. What I am trying to express is that we as North American women have all of our rights and we don't need to fight for them anymore. We are not oppressed, we are not victimized, we do not need to distinguish ourselves by our gender. In fact, doing so is setting back the women's movement by creating an unecessary division between men and women. I am thoroughly impressed by the work done by historical women. In fact, I'm reading an amazing book right now that highlights some work done in the past that I reap the benefits of. (A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, check it out!) We have our rights now lets truly act as equals and not try to set ourselves apart, aside or above men.

Honestly, sometimes I think the women's movement went too far in some very strange directions. Two areas that immediately spring to mind are family law and standardized testing of emergency services workers. In family law, courts usually favour women, which is biased and illogical. In many divorce cases women are awarded alimony, which is absolutely assinine! Why would a man have to pay his ex-wife so she can maintain her living standard. If she wanted to keep her present lifestyle then she can either stay married or get a job that will allow her to stay in the same wage brackett. Also, custody battles often blindly favor the mother, which is not always in the child's best interest. As for emergency services workers, many of the physical tests have different standards for men and women. If your house was burning dowm, would you care about what is between the legs of the person rescuing your unconscious body from the flames? Would you be lauding the victories of the women's movement if your dad burnt to a crisp because the little waif that went to save him couldn't lift him? Of course not.

Gender discrimination can only be eradicated through making the whole concept of gender completely irrelevant.

You didn't offend me. I just like a little healthy discussion. And I think everything you said here was intelligent and to the point, whether or not I agree with all of it.

    ;-)

  5. What's with all the Lakehead bashing? I went to Lakehead, as did Large Marge and Cully, and we all seem to have turned out alright... ;)

    mn40logo.gif

Seriously though, I have no idea where Lakehead is...I guess I'll google it.

Never mind being a woman.....I LOVE GOOGLE!

    sorry, I can't stop.......

  6. I really don't understand why anyone would have a problem with celebrating a day to remember the strides woman have made and are making.

    Luv you Jules!

To answer your remark, I personally just feel stupid going "oooohhh, high five, I'm a chick".

I didn't ever think that because I was a woman that I should be treated differently because of what gender I was a birth.

  7. Hilarious!!!!!!

Preachie is fun to spell that way. It's fun to be silly and incorrect.

If you wanted to dispute IQ's or bump chests, I'm up for mudwrestling...that's a fair way to resolve our issue wouldn't you say? And it would be quite fitting in light of this topic.

p.s. I graduated High Honors in top 3% of my class...at Lakehead (where the hell is Lakehead anyway?)

    ;)

  8. This is why today I love being a woman:

    5. MEN.......do I need say more?

The Number One reason I'd hate to be a woman. Please have pity on us' date=' though. Men may be biologically and socially superfluous and largely redundant at best, and may compensate for that through overweaning idiocy, but we didn't ask to be born that way. Bear with us if you can.

    [/quote']

We love you despite all that Mousie. ;-0

    Mwaaahhh!

  9. BTW, I'm a strong, smart single parent, put myself through university, got a great job, take care of myself, depend on NO man and consider myself equal to anyone... MAN or WOMAN....

and I don't need International Woman's Day to remind me of that! If anything I find it somewhat condecending and silly.

  10. The only way to acheive true gender equity is to eradicate the division all together. By having international women's day and women's mechanics classes and other things that separate and isolate women and men we set back the progress of the cause of true equality. Equal means the same treatment. What is between your legs is only relevant in a few select situations. The voting poll is not one of them. A date on the calendar is not one of them. Shop class is not one of them. Yes, it sucks to be a woman and have to bleed. But you know what? I bet it sucks to have external sex organs too! It's also true that women have to be in pain to have babies. But you don't have to have babies. Don't want the pain, then don't have babies! I am so sick of all this bullshit about women being victimized and opressed. The only time my gender ever opressed me was when I couldn't join scouts in the eighties, and now that's different too. So stop whining and complaining and take advantage of all the opportunities that are out there for you.

Ok preachie....relax. Anothe reason guys make fun of us....flying off the handle.

I don't really hate being a woman...jeez. but I DO love it when people get all up in arms and go nuts like you just did.

Another thing to do so that you will be treated equally, stop bitching about guys leaving the toilet seat up. I don't hear them bitching every time they go in the bathroom and have to put it up, so why should girls bitch everytime we have to put it down?

  11. This is why today I love being a woman:

    1. PMS

    2. Menstruation EVERY month

    3. Carrying and Delivering babies, which includes nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diareaha, bruised ribs, lack of sleep etc etc etc. Do I sound like a pepto bismol commercial? ;-)

    4. Cute children grow up to be teenagers

    5. MEN.......do I need say more?

Can you tell I'm grouchy today?

    ;)
