So the Sound of Music Festival is coming up in my town of Burlington Ontario. For those that have never been, this is a free event over the weekend of June 17th - 20th, located at Spencer Smith Park, right on lake Ontario. There will be 6 stages this year, although really I think I will only be visiting between 2 or 3 of them myself. A BROAD spectrum of music, vendors, the fair and good food and BEER TENTS! Check the schedule on the website for times and bands/performers. Some of them I have never heard of but checked out their sites and they sound pretty good. I have been going since I was a kid and no doubt this is a fun time to be had!!!

I hope to be able to go on Thursday night and check out Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards and Spirit of the West on saturday...but meh..that's just me. Maybe go see some of the other celtic bands too and I think there are a couple blues artists as well. Some bands from this scene should really try to get on the bill for next year.

Anyways, hope to see some of you come out. Should be a good time and hopefully the weather is good!

well right now i work at a company that takes oil pipeline data from big oil companies in the states and i convert that data using autocad and another program. It is totally against what i believe...helping these companies make more money but it is a job for now. Contract is up in July...here's hoping they don't renew until october so i can have some time off!!

And once a week i clean an office and get paid really well for it. Takes about 2 hours tops.

Other than that, my real passion that I rarely get paid for (but should be gettin paid for) is doing nutritional consultations and Iridology. I have finished my first year of my Clinical Herbalist diploma but have put that on hold for a bit till i know where i want to finish it. Soon enough, that will be how i make my livin'..... :: :: ::

well taurine is not a bad thing for you...at least not in small doses. As said, it is simply an amino acid which is a good thing. We receive these through a regular healthy diet. The sale of individual (as in single) amino acids is not currently legal in canada. This is due to people such as body-builders misusing them and often taking a lethal dose (far beyond what is in said drinks). This is unfortunate cuz amino acids taken as a supplement can help with a variety of illnesses.

As for the drinks, avoid tonnes of sugar, guarana (sp?), caffine and ephedrine. the best way to get your energy is through a good balanced diet and good sleep.

lookin pretty good! I've seen Melissa Mclelland before at an earth day thing here in burlington a few years back..her father happens to be "friends" and an associate of my dad....she has a wikked voice..very beautiful. Too bad that is during the week or I could make it out.

great idea for the bush for sure, but i would like to recommend taking something that has less "crap" in it (additives, etc.) Try something from the Greens+ line or Prairie Naturals. The stuff in those is much better for you. I believe they sell them at all Fortinos (the Greens anyways).

This really pisses me off. I was raised fairly strict Protestant and it has taken me so long to get my father to realize what an evil man Bush is...he liked him so blindly for the pure fact that he would quote scripture and profess to be Christian...without even questioning or researching anything that the man has done.

It truly bothers me that he hides behind this "god-fearing" persona, spouting about the "evil-doers" and the "axis of evil" when he is actually taking part in so many evil things...puppet or not, he is apart of it. It is that sort of shit that makes my dad like him all over again. Frustrating indeed!!

Actually i haven't played in a while. Maybe i should try to get an even higher score..hehe I totally wanted to go to PJC last night but no one I was with wanted to go. They wanted to stay in Burlington. Oh well. Next time I will just go by myself. The only issue then though is finding somewhere to crash or having big money for the cab home!

i have just had a super rough week and all i wanted to do was go out with some friends. Just before i go out i look for my licence thinking i had it all along and it is missing....i have looked absolutely everywhere...So i try to get in anyways and they won't let me! I know they are not supposed to without any id...i am sure if i went to PJC they would let me in but i have no one to go with.

Sorry to rant, just down...really wanted to go out and let loose and forget about this stupid week. man, i hate it when i loose stuff.

hmmmmm well first off...not all the bands are announced yet but so far i like what i see ---jomomma, gorilla funk monsters, caution jam, diesel dog ::, the resinators...and these are the bands i have actually seen! I am sure they are all good...

Personally i go to the festival to'cometogether' (pardon the pun) with people of like interests and what not. The folks are always good (with a few exceptions) and the vibe is as well.

I also think that Izzy's is nice...granted, it is no frontier town and good luck EVER finding a venue even close to being like frontier town. But the people and music are what make the festival when it comes down to it...not the venue. I am sure something has been arranged now regarding our close proximity with the families there (although i didn't mind myself). The best thing about izzy's is the water to swim and refresh in and the bathrooms.

man...we really need to get some more good bands out to Avalon...as i said in another thread, its a pretty good place other than the tiny smokin bubble but now that it is beginning to get nice out i can go outside (this just coming from a dirty smoker..hehe) They have some really nice pool tables and ladies play free on fridays! awesome for me cuz i love to play pool and that can add up after awhile. Also, it is $10 pitchers on fridays i think...not bad...so come on people..come out to Burlington!!

I went to the Avalon last friday...it is where philthy mcnasty's used to be...pretty nice other than the smokin bubble is too small!! But hmmmm...i was going to go to PJC but now i may just stay in burlington...ohhhhhhh the options.

There was this band there last friday called Combo Number (#) 9....they were pretty good....they should be booked other places!
