  1. unfortunately, most dogs can not just be put back out in the wild as they have been domesticated and will probably not survive very long. I don't think you can really compare a dog to animals that have not been domesticated (nor do i think they should become domesticated)... I agree that people should not have 'exotic' pets such as lions, cougars or even pythons.

I am sorry to hear that you were bit. I also have been bit by a german shepherd/rotti. I find german shepherds get a little nippy in their old age. My dog even got nippy (not bitey) in her old age when there were too many people around...in which case you give them their space and more care (as we do with our human elderly)(not to compare them to dogs ...please don't run with that!..u know what i mean)

I don't think banning is the answer. Nor do I think all dogs should not be apart of human society. I have found much love and companionship through these animals. It is unfortunate that some are raised to be mean and aggressive. But to bunch them all together as being so is not right. Yes, I am afraid of certain dogs...dobermins being one...but that doesn't mean that there are not perfectly loving ones out there.

hopefully there will be something in place to control owner behavior instead of banning breeds of dogs.

  2. good night indeed...i was a little tipsy though n'est pas?? okay OKAY...i was right sideways!!! Good times though..great pics by Steve and Keri..good to meet some new folks as well! I just love Halloween...dressin' up is my favourite.

Santa santa...lucky man indeed. Still think you should consider the mall job man ;)

So who ended up winnin' the prizes anyhow??

  3. WOO HOO!!! i LOVE bc!!! I get to go there in less than 2 weeks for a wedding on the island.. in Duncan..and then i get to go to the interior for another wedding on May 24!

I will definitely be living there one day...don't really want to raise kids here in ontario (that is...when i have them)

  4. i am in agreement with mr. musicface and cyberhippie in the fact that yes, to each his own..some people like some things that others don't and vica versa...i too love some 80's hair rock (hehe) and it is not because it is particulary talented but it is fun and brings back memories for me. I have a wide taste in music with very few dislikes. Some may not agree with me, but you can't really argue likes and dislikes.

But Zero, i will agree that maybe more folks in the scene do need to broaden their showgoing (or something to that effect, but who am i to say though really???). Through out the summer when I was a Pepperjacks fairly often seeing incredible bands or artists performing with no one there because everyone would be out seeing the same band they always see. I am not say there is anything wrong with those bands but there were so many times when i thought "man, this is really amazing and no one is here to see it". It is a shame sometimes but hell, i love to see some of my favourite bands alot too. But i don't think it merits this level of frustration, generalized name-calling and judgement. All of us could bitch 'till the cows come home' about this, that and the other thing in life. If you feel you are in the right about something then live that for yourself, not others, and be a living example. I learned a long time ago that pushing your thoughts on folks doesn't work and creates anger. (had that sort of problem being frustrated and angry with people's lack of environmental concern).

ps..i love dancing to diesel dog ;)

  5. hmmm...where to begin...maybe what i am about to write is completely out of line but oh well. Zero, i have never met you in person or even had a discussion with you on this board, but from reading the things you post i don't think i would ever want to. Sounds to me like you put yourself on some pedestal above the rest of us on here and in the scene, using a ridiculous amount of long dictionary words to make youself sound superior. Personally, I would find this board pretty boring if all i read here was constant long-winded music reviews. I come to this board for reviews, tour dates and other things to do with the scene but also to read and to share like interests with other folks on this board...that isn't always about music. To group everyone together as "lurking dipshits" is ignorant. You yourself said you don't know most of us from a hole in the wall..well maybe you should take the time to talk to people individually and see what a person is all about before making such rash general judgements. And maybe, just maybe, if before you went and talked to a person, you went into a conversation without putting up this wall of judgement and bitterness and be open minded to the fact that we all have something to learn from eachother in this life...that you (and i for that matter) do not 'know all' and won't until the day we die. Open your heart and your mind man. See that in everything there is love and beauty, then maybe you will have more compassion and understanding and respect for the differences in us all. Everyone has their place...on this board, in the scene, in life. Some folks are gifted writers and therefore write great reviews or what have you. Others are not. Just because i lurk more than write or if all i say is "wow that show was awesome last night" instead of going into some long wordy review of it, makes no difference.

meh...i have written enough...think what ya want but judge not lest you be judged my friend...

  6. For those with the constant nightmares...is the head of your bed under a window? I found that I had way more nightmares when my head was at the window...apparently it is a Feng Shui (sp?) no-no. If so, change it up if you can...i also read that having any mirrors facing your bed is not good..but who knows.

Last night i dreamt that i was on this roof and there was a crack in the roof. When i went to examine it, an infestation of beetles or little black bugs of some sort came spewing out of it. I woke up and momentarily thought they were in my bed as i was swishing them away...yuck. Then I fell back to sleep and dreamt i was in this orchard of massive trees and i saw this huge weasel come out of a tree with a squirrel in its mouth. Then there were 2 weasels..male and female. THey were trying to get my friends baby so we had to run inside while my mom tried to scare them off. Last I remember was the voice of my step-gramma say that her and my grandfather were going to sleep in the tree house....hehe...weird

  7. So i got the call...word is that there will be 2 bands playing on the saturday night. Prices for non-members are $35 for the night, $40 for the weekend. Take $10 off that for members and a membership is $25 if ya don't have one.

Mark Wilson and the Way It Is are playing but then Rick says there is a "mystery band". Personally, I don't like this mystery band business (if anyone would like to come forward and say who it is,please do). I find it a little pricey.

Anyone planning on going?? If there is quite a few people, maybe it will be worth it. I got to go to the cottage that weekend anyhow so I may go as it is on the way. I just dunno....

  8. well i heard that from my photographer friend who heard it from the guy she develops her black and whites with in Grimsby....so indeed, it may not be fully accurate. All i know is she is havin a heartattack thinking she can't get anyone black and white film through them.

  9. if you are a photographer......

i am not a super photographer but a friend of mine is and for any of you that are into takin black n' white photos the old way (non-digital), black n'white giant Illford film had been put out of business by this new digital age...i suggest finding the film where ever you can and stockin up like crazy!!! Just a shame....

  10. taken from the site....

FOR SALE - 50 acre property with zoning that allows for

further development as an education centre. Cdn $255,000.

Fifteen years ago this beautiful property began operating as

Sun Run Centre for Sustainable Living and later also became

designated as an Ecovillage Training Center. The property

includes 15 scenic acres of fertile organic gardens, pasture

and hayfields, along with cedar and mixed hardwood bush.

It is about 90 minutes northeast of Toronto (15 mins north

    of Lindsay).

    BUILDINGS AND EQUIPMENT:

House: Two-story, 2,450 square foot house (half log

construction built Circa 1860 and renovated in 1989; other

half passive solar frame built in 1993); large country

kitchen, pantry, two common rooms, five bedrooms,

office, 2 1/2 baths, other areas; two basements (one utility

    and one with freezers, bulk food storage and a root cellar);

    large sun/mud room, wrap-around deck.

The fully electrified house is not connected to the electric

grid, but is powered by 24 solar roof panels, wind

generator, propane-fueled backup generator, and a large

bank of storage batteries capable of storing 3 to 5 days

worth of electricity. It is a very reliable system; no power

brown or blackouts in 15 years.

    Heating: propane-fired forced-air furnace, or 2 wood stoves;

solar gain, extensive insulation, windows with 3 - 4 panes.

Other Buildings: Small barn/tractor shed, utility sheds,

summer house used for training workshops, cob cottage,

    greenhouse, and more.

building lot on the southwest corner. The large parcel is

zoned as an "agricultural education centre," which allows

for the immediate development of a "400 square metre (4252

square feet) educational centre," and later development of

"accessory buildings and structures, which may include

    greenhouses, demonstration structures for alternative

building techniques and additional training and boarding

facilities." The zoning appears to allow for a wide range

    of future development possibilities.

self-sufficient living plus public workshops, internships

and educational programs. Its unique and hard-to-get zoning,
