CyberHippie
That guy is on crack... It seems to me the scene is getting bigger not smaller. The molson amp was far from being full, but they NEVER could have pulled that show off 3 years ago, it would have been completely empty. Oh well, whatever... In any case I'm sure the money grubbing big wigs didn't make enough off that show, so can we expect anything like that again soon?
bouche
Is the 'reviewer' suggesting that they played "Unbroken Chain"? "Whether Lesh & Friends were dipping into the Dead songbook (as on Box of Rain or Unbroken Chain, both of which were penned by Lesh for the Dead) or debuting songs from the new There and Back Again album release (such as Again and Again), the results were similar"
CharlieDon'tSurf
another snippit from the reviewer: quote: a long set that offered, again, lots of lengthy and intricate jams it was my first trip to a show like this and I was under the impression that lengthy and intricate jams were a given... maybe i'm just too niave for my own good
dancingfool
Playing Devil's Advocate here, but... Remember that the audience the guy's writing for are not "jamband enthusiasts", so describing the long and intricate jams was necessary. This said, judging the state of the scene from the number of empty seats (as opposed of taken seats) is a hasty thing to do. OTOH, reporters no longer have the time to do any kind of meaningful research, so they interpret with what they find. About the only thing to do is write a short, insightful, polite and corrective letter to the editor...
