CyberHippie
I wouldn't really listen to MarcO, he's generally a drunken, raving lunatic who humps many inanimate objects... I had to get that out there...

MarcO
Thanks for the kind words, you dirty fucknuts. See you in hell! Jay - the show is by Michael Varey, called "Footprints of the Universe", on through April at the Transit Gallery (230 Locke Street South - (905)522-1299). He doesn't lay out his technique, apparently he's rather secretive about it, but from what I can gather it involves the chemical reaction that happens when you take a pure colour (not the dye) to a base material. The result is a rich, quartz-like marbling of the base material, very beautiful and vibrant. It's kind of hard to describe but suffice to say, we see shows at the Transit Gallery all the time and this is probably my favorite so far. Definitely worth an hour of your time, if you get the chance. As an aside, David and Priti of the Tranist Gallery are really sweet people, soon to have a regular artists series starting. Keep in touch with them and the gallery, you will be rewarded. They are closed Mondays.
