StoneMtn
The only cover that I can think of that he does is "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith, but that doesn't sound like it could be the song you are thinking of. On the off chance, does that happen to be it? If not, I can email Don Ross and find out which TV theme song he plays. He is pretty good about replying to emails. Velvet
Don used to have his music used for a bunch of theme songs for CBC radio shows.
StoneMtn
Oh! That's true. In particular his music has been used for various radio and TV spots for aboriginal shows, including on that Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. (Don is half miqmaq / half Scottish; ie "MacMiqMaq" as he puts it.) Could those be the theme songs you speak of Howler?

bradm
Yes, Don Ross played Carleton, Friday, Jan, 10, 2003, which was a rare show for him, as he had a band (bass and drums, IIRC) with him. It was an awesome show. Aloha, Brad

bradm
If the song had vocals, it might be "Sweet Sister", a song about his sister-who-wasn't, because she died before Don was born. I got the love meant for you I was the one to fill your shoes While you were the one They had to lose Sweet sister of mine Aloha, Brad
Velvet
Yeah, Don has played at Carleton 3 or 4 times now. I think I'll bring him back again.
bradm
Do it! And maybe get Lauzon to do a solo acoustic set as an opener. (Or Shane Simpson, with or without Paul Bourdeau.) Aloha, Brad
Jakis
Definitly do it. I know he and 3 other accoustic guitar players..i think they are called men of steel were at Carleton last year. A freind of mine went but said it wasnt a good turn out but thought it was probally because of the big snowstorm that hit ottawa that day.
Im going home Donny
::yahskies :: Bring him back, yes, please do mon ami :: ....on the friggin song-I think it was more a cancer death...oooh dam my memory.
StoneMtn
His wife died of cancer a couple of years ago. I think there is a song about that, but I don't recall the name right now. It was a very sad situation, and Don shared his feelings with his fans on his listserv, in a surprisingly blunt manner. It really pulled at the heartstrings, especially with all the mention of their two kids (who now often go on tour with him).
