StoneMtn
Hey Tim: I just went to the site you posted. I don't see any indication that purchasing this DVD contributes money to anything, as I would have expected. Do you know if any of the proceeds are going to fight famine or anything? TimmyB
In the liner notes of the DVD it states: Money raised from the sale of this DVD will be used to continue the work of the Band Aid Trust in Africa. With Sir Bob Geldof continuing to be a trustee, I trust that the money is going to those who need help. Sir Bob is a Saint. A couple of years ago I was at Healey's Blues Club I was seeing Levon Helm and the Barnburners and Sir Bob Geldof walked right past me. I was like, "Damn, a knight just walked right by me and he's watching the drummer of the Band play blues songs!" I thought that was cool.
Velvet
Bob Geldof deserves god-like status.
TimmyB
Bob Geldof deserves god-like status. Agreed. That's why England gave him a knighthood.

StoneMtn
Cool. Thanks Tim. That's good enough for me; and I'm ordering myself a copy for sure. I was probably going to get one regardless, but if part of the proceeds are continuing the Live Aid work, then that decides it. And, agreed; Bob Geldof is very cool. I was even, at one time, a Boomtown Rats fan to a small degree (or at least a fan of that one song).
Jaimoe
I watched the entire concert in 1985 and I still have some of the performaces on tape ( that's slowly dissoloving ). Does anyone remember the worst performance I've ever seen EVER: Billy Ocean singing along with the album cut of " Caribbean Queen " in front of a giant curtain? This is unfortunately not on the DVD. Neither is the reformed Led Zeppelin's awful performance with an unneccessary Phil Collins filling in for Bonzo. Page hated Phil's drumming in Zeppelin. The DVD also omits Santana's great performace - they did a few songs with Pat Metheny too. A lot of the performaces are sooooo cheesy 80's dated, and the DVD will show plenty of " questionable " highlights: Phil Collins doing " Against All Odds "; Ronny, Keef and Bob drunk as skunks doing " Blowing In The Wind " ( it's fu©king great in a funny way however ); REO Speedwagon; Kenny Loggins; four Paul Young songs??? etc... Still, I must have this DVD! Queen put on an unbelievable show ( and I don't even like them ). The Who reformed ( for the first time!!! ) and did a sloppy but honest performance. I can't really remember B.B. King, but I can't wait to see him. Neil Young never sucks, even in this Geffen 80's years. I had the DVD in my hands yesterday at CD Replay ( $29.00 )and the back cover included footage of the late-great Albert Collins, but the track listing below has no mention of him. I think he played with Clapton. Could someone verify this for me? The money earned from DVD sales goes to a good cause and this is a great time capsule of 80's rock. Too bad country, punk, alternative rock and rap acts didn't get the invite to play that day.
