phorbesie
so, who all lives in montreal, and are there any jazzfest shows you are *sure* to hit up this week? just curious, as i am leaving for montreal tomorrow and i'll be there until the 7th. i rented an apt. downtown on berri st...looking forward to a great week of fun and music! so far the only *paying* shows i have tickets for are mmw and bill frisell, but considering dave holland for friday night. other than that i am going to discuss with the friend i'm meeting there before buying any more tics. but looking forward to catching lots of free stuff every day and some evenings. i'm not a jazz aficionado (sp?) so recommendations are welcome. and meeting for drinks is welcome too!! Blane
I'm going to see Feist on the 30th, MMW on the 2nd, Kaki King's free show (forget the date). I'll put in a plug for my buddy's band "Richard White Trio" playing for free a few times during the fest. He's a pretty smokin' guitar player.Make sure you check out l'off festival de jazz at Lion D'or as well. Not too far away and more cutting edge (cheaper too!). Stuff going on every night.Truffaz is usually good, David Sanchez is good, Zakir Hussein is a god and playing 3 shows, lots to choose from really. Also if you want some guidance around town let me know. I've lived here a few years now and know the city fairly well. Anyone who wants a beer tour of montreal is more than welcome to let me know, and I'll provide. One of the best beer cities in the world IMO.
