shainhouse
saw this on Jamhub. some might be interested.FLOW 93.5 & Dose PresentTHE ROOTSWith special guests K'Naan and Mayhem Morearty, and DJ Starting From ScratchSometimes a band comes along that defies all traditional methods of their genre and performance. The Roots are one of those bands.Although popular success has largely eluded the Roots, the Philadelphia group showed the way for live rap, building on Stetsasonic's "hip-hop band" philosophy of the mid-'80s by focusing on live instrumentation at their concerts and in the studio. Though their album works have been inconsistent affairs, more intent on building grooves than pushing songs, the Roots' live shows are among the best in the business.Known for their unique sound and fresh style of hip-hop, The Roots are more than just two turntables and a mic - they are a full band. Universally acknowledged as the best live band in hip-hop, the tried and true team of Black Thought, Kamal, Hub and ?uestlove have taken hip-hop music in a positive direction and helped revolutionize it. They're even the hip-hop band of choice for many, including Jay-Z when he perform with a live band.Last year the Roots released a ten track album which was based on a series of jam sessions they had to give the album a looser feel. The results were edited down and released as The Tipping Point in July of 2004. A 2004 concert from Manhattan's Webster Hall with special guests like Mobb Deep, Young Gunz, and Jean Grae was released in early 2005 as The Roots Presents: A Sonic Event.Wednesday October 12, 2005The Docks (11 Polson Street)*** Tickets on sale Friday September 9, 2005 ***Tickets are $35.75 in advance (inclusive of facility charge) and are available at:Ticketmaster, Play Da Record, Rotate This, Vice, Sonic Temple, Shanti Baba & Ed's Record WorldLicensed & All Ages Event à Doors @ 8 pm
