Blane
Since I don't have a clue about those Rolling Stone albums I thought I'd start my own thread!I'll offer up a few that I loved from this year:In no particular order.- Smog: A River Ain't Too Much to Love (possibly his best album, or at least a tie with Dongs of Sevotion)- Bell Orchestre: Recording a tape the colour of light (great debut album!)- Wolf Parade: Wolf Parade (great debut album, sorta!)- Feist: Let it Die (more canadiana. YES!)- Calexico/Iron & Wine (forget the title but I can't stop listening to this)- M. Ward: Transistor Radio (not as strong a follow-up to Transfiguration as I'd hoped for but still freakin' great)HONOURABLE MENTIONS:(Stuff I've heard great things about but haven't checked out yet)- Bonnie Prince Billy and Matt Sweeny-Superwolf - Beck - Guero!- black mountain - s/t- Coletrane- Live at the Half Note- Wilco- Kicking TV (Live)Also: Broken Social Scene- s/t (a bit too hit and miss to make the list for me)Tortoise and Will Oldham- The Brave and the Bold (didn't think much of it at first but this is growing on me)Islands: Return to the sea (doesn't come out 'till 2006 but this is going to be a big hit I think) Edited December 20, 2005 by Guest
Guest Low Roller
Although I won't attempt to rank 50 albums that I listened to this year, here is a quick list of what caught my attention this year: - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - self titled - Sufjan Stevens- Illinoise - Neil Young- Prairie Wind - Beck- Guero - The Decemberists- Picaresque - The Mars Volta- Frances the Mute Once again, there was just too much to listen to this year to really embrace the whole spectrum. I was disappointed by Get Behind Me Satan by the White Stripes, and my guilty pleasure record is The Cookbook by Missy Elliott.
