shainhouse
The band I play in, KAE SUN , will be playing in Hamilton, Toronto (our debut) and London (our debut) next week and I'd just like to forward over the information of the shows so hopefully we can see you there. Our band is led by Kae Sun, our MC. He is originally from Ghana and is an eclectic, West African influenced hip-hop singer/songwriter. He has a six piece back-up band behind him (including me) which features Tristan Drysdale on Guitar, Nathan Haldane on Bass, me on drums and percussion, Joel Harvey on Keyboards, Kojo Damptey on percussion, sampling and drum-programming and Brian on drums. We are an honest, original, political LIVE HIP-HOP band that is against mainstream, gangsta-style hip-hop. We use positive lyrics and live instrumentation in our quest to purify hip-hop, mixing in funk, soul, rock and various West African influences as well, including High Life, Juju and Afrobeat. Here's a quote from our recent COVER STORY in View Magazine in Hamilton." Lyrically and musically, Kae Sun's expression is for themost part competent and cosmopolitan, melodic andmature, and even at times as inspiring as it is inspired, casting aside the boasting that permeates pop hip hopand delving into his own musical roots from the classics." - Ric Taylor, View MagazineHere's a link to the full article --->> http://www.viewmag.com/viewstory.php?storyid=3760We are playing these three shows in February. If eclectic, original live hip hop sounds interesting, then please come out and see what we're all about. Also, Please forward this message around to anyone who you think would be interested in us. We're on at 11PM.Our BIO is below:The magic of music is its ability to transcend the current human condition creating a sense of escapism and freedom. This is the philosophy with which mc/singer/songwriter Kae Sun approaches his art.Kae Sun alongside his band are gradually sculpturing a sound that blends the the traditional rhythms of Africa with the "boom bap" sound of hip-hop and the spirit lifting melodies of soul music. This sound is showcased on his upcoming debut cd Soliloquy that was released worldwide on Life Records Entertainment in January. In a truly unique fashion, Kae Sun's music attempts to restore the fundamentals of songwriting with the performer as a lyricist or poet of sorts, shedding light on a variety of social and spiritual issues without compromising the basic need for sonically captivating, neck snapping, heart thumping music.Kae Sun nearly sold out the Underground in Hamilton (over 250 people) for his CD Release Party, as well as being featured as the COVER STORY in View Magazine that week, Hamilton entertainment weekly. In addition, he received full length articles in both the Hamilton Spectator and McMaster's Silhouette to promote the event. He has been featured on McMaster's CMFU as well and will record a music video for "Stay Up," the single off Soliloquy in March. Come witness the future of eclectic, respectful and original hip-hop in Canada. Come see Kae Sun.Thanks and please contact either myself here or Kae Sun himself at kaydimes@hotmail.com for more info. For phone interviews or further info, you can also call either 905.526.0089 or 905.667.4389. Best Wishes and have a wonderful weekend.
